But for me, this is the very 1st time Im hosting this final competition and I have already been very much impressed by the performance of the preliminary round.C: Exactly. Ive seen so many outstanding contestants. They demonstrate such a high level of English, and Im so looking forward to enjoying more in the coming 2 hours.J: The President Cup, featuring English debate, speech and performance, is the most well-known English event on our campus. Up to the present, it is celebrating its 7th birthday. C: It provides us with a great opportunity to display the best of our capability and creativity of language, inspiring students like us to take courage and show ourselves on the stage. J: After last Fridays heated competition, today is the day when the 6 top group finishers will be showcasing their best. Each of them will be hoping to take home the much coveted President Cup.C: So the question really is who have made it to final of the finals held today. Actually if you have been watching the preliminary round last week, you will realize that the 36 contestants altogether have presented quite a show.J: the top 6 groups that excelled themselves in the preliminary round are from: School of Life Sciences and TechnologyC: College of Humanities and Social ScienceJ: School of Food Sciences and TechnologyC: School of Animal Sciences and Technology J: Zhang zhidong ClassC: And last, School of Plant Sciences and Technology. In deed, last Friday we had the pleasure of witnessing the 18 contestants to demonstrate their brilliance in English. J: And we really did have a wonderful time. Now lets give all our best wishes to all the contestants tonight and may you succeed. But before we get down to real business, dont forget another very important part of this competition, and they are guests and judges.C: so, lets take a highlight of the distinguished guests and honorable judges present today.J: Firstly, lets welcome Vice President of HZAU, Mr. 高翅. (applause)There are also the deans and leaders from the school Administrative Offices.C: and the deans and leaders from 7 relevant colleges and schools.J: So our President Cup wont be complete without the presence of these VIPs. C: Absolutely. Now, here is the distinguished panel of judges. They are Mr. 秦军.J:C: So these are the important people our contestants will have to try very hard to impress.J: Well, I guess everyone is in his place, so can we start right away?C: Not yet, because todays competition is very important and a little bit complicated as well. I think it is necessary to tell them a little bit more before we kick things off. J: OK, you are right, Comcom. Lets briefly go over the rules of todays competition. C: The final contest consists of Debate, Speech, and Performance.In the Debate section, the total score is 70. Pros and cons are decided by drawing the lot between 2 teams. 2 of the 3 contestants are to make presentation and conclusion respectively. Free debate should be completed with the joint efforts of the 3. The time limit is 6 minutes for each team, 12 minutes for the group.J: in the Speech part, the total score is 30. That is 3-minute speech for one representative. And as to the Performance section, it scores totally 20. A wide variety of forms are allowed with the involvement of 3 contestants within 5 minutes. C: of course, during the entire procedure, English is the only language allowed.J: those are the principles that the judges will be following and judging the contestants performance in the following 2 hours.C: Dear audience, in the following 36 minutes, I, alone, will be chairing the exciting Debate section.J: All right.
