To have Self-respect means to like yourself, to be comfortable about your values and the way you practice them in your life. It is entirely an inner judgment you make of yourself, which no one else can make of you. Respectability, on the other hand, is a judgment others make of you. The person with respectability is one who, in the eyes of the others, adheres to conventional and accepted values. For example, a teacher with a sense of duty, responsibility and gentle dignity is often looked up to by his students and the woman with respectability may be regarded as a good mother, a faithful wife of a conscientious career woman.
