Walk around the class andoffer help when necessary. Introductory remarks on this unit:Food is a central part of the Chinese culture Chinese cuisine is one of the greatest methods of cooking. Many elements that have influenced its development. The Chinese people enjoy eating good food at all levels of society so cooking has developed into a very sophisticated art. Confucius once said: Eating is the utmost important part of life.Chinese food culture Famous for its abundance and exquisite, Chinese food culture has occupied an important part in the nations tradition cultures. China is of long history with a vast territory. Due to the diversity of the climate, products and customs, there are widely different food styles and taste in local regions. Through creation by past dynasties, the long standing cooking art has formed rich and colorful local dishes. Among them, the eight major dishes enjoys the upper reputation, which consists of Shangdong, Chekiang, Sichuan, Jiangshu, Guangdong, Hunan, Fujian and Anhwei.Healthier and Tasteful Most Chinese dishes are cooked with meat and vegetables together, so the foods contain lower calories and are less rich than Western style food. Vegetables stay bright and crisp by cooking them for a short time over high heat, either in their own juice or in a small amount of water. This method retains most of the vitamins and minerals.I. Korea cuisine(韩国料理) II. Listening Skills 听力训练 (20 minutes)(Listening for Peopoles Food Preferences)1. Objectives: 短对话听力练习,侧重各国各种食品的听力技能的训练。In this part you are going to learn how to listen for peoples food preferences. Say some food names in Chinese including meat, vegetables and fruit, and ask the students to give the English names for them. Or ask the students to name whatever food they know.烤鸭(roast duck), 蒜泥白肉(sliced pork in pounded garlic), 怪味鸡片(multi-flavor chicken slice),脆皮鸭(crisp duck), 虾仁锅巴(shrimps with crispy fried rice crust).2. Speaking Out口语训练 (50 minutes)1. Objectives: In this part you are going to learn how to ask for and offer suggestions. 有关如何使用英语获取建议和提供建议这两种交际技能的视频对话,训练学生跟读、模仿、对比。1.1. The models present some expressions used for ask for and offeringsuggestions. The underlined parts are either such functional expressions or the expressions that help to form the framework of the models. 1.2. For the part “Now Your Turn” after each model, divide the class into pairs to do the exercise. Walk around the class and give help as needed. Encourage the students to use their real names to act out their parts.2. Learning Strategies: Gap-fillers in English.1) Well, let me see2) Let me check3) Good question.4) Im afraid5) Lets say,etc. 3. Do exercises After watching each model, let the students try their best to imitate and practice the intonation and pronunciations. 4.1. Practise the dialogue with your partner in your group. 4.2. Make performance on Now You Turn in front of the class.5. Explain Useful expressions to the class.5.1. Explain to the class that suggestions can be direct or indirect. They can also be phrased formally and informally. For example, “How does a trip abroad sound?” can count as an indirect suggestion phrased in informal language, whereas “I strongly advise you to take a trip abroad.” Is a direct suggestion phrased in formal language. 5.2. Tell the class that suggestions can be accepted or rejected. People may also show indecision or make alternative decision when offered suggestions. For example, when you say “Good idea!” you show that you accept the suggestion. On the other hand, if you say “Its easier said than done.”, you mean that the suggestion is somewhat impracticable.5.3. Here are explanations of some of the words and expressions. 1). You say “Why not?” in order to introduce a suggestion. Note that sometimes you say “Why not?” in order to agree with what someone has suggested. For example, when someone says to you “Want to spend the afternoon with me?” you may say “Why not?” 2). You say “Take my advice!” when you urge someone to follow your suggestion. It is a strong plea for listener. 3). “That hadnt occurred to me.” Has the same meaning as “I hadnt thought of that.” 4). When you say “Its easier said than done.”, you mean that the suggestion sounds good but is hard to carry out.6. Create a dialog with your partner in ten minutes according to the given situations after each Model in Part IV. You can choose one from the three situations as your assignment. And then make a performance in front of the class.V. Lets talk口语训练 (20 minutes)1. Objectives: In this part you are going to 1. Listen to a conversation about students eating habits.2. Learn how to express ideas about different food and eating habits. 这一段对话较长,是关于食品和学生的饮食习惯的,学生效仿,以说为主,听说结合。2. Explain the new words. (听力练习之前的工作。) survey, nutrition, leaflet, lettuce.3. Exercises:Steps: 1). To model how to use the clues, you may ask one of the students to be your partner and act out a situation. 2). Divide the class into pairs to prepare the dialogues.
