One day, feeling very sad and lonely, she was walking through a grassland when she noticed a small butterfly caught in a thorn (荆棘) bush. The young girl carefully released the Butterfly. Instead of flying away, the little butterfly changed into a beautiful fairy. The young girl rubbed her eyes in disbelief. “For your wonderful kindness,” the good fairy said to the girl, “I will give you any wish you would like.” The little girl thought for a moment and then replied, “I want to be happy.” The fairy leaned toward her and whispered in her ear. Then the fairy disappeared. As the little girl grew up, there was no one in the land as happy as she. Everyone asked her secret of happiness .She would only smile and answer, “The secret of my happiness is that I listened to a good fairy when I was a little girl.” When she was very old and on her deathbed, the neighbors all gathered around her, that her unbelievable secret of happiness would die with her. “Tell us, please,” they begged, “Tell us what the good fairy said.” The lovely old woman simply smiled and said, “She told me that everyone, no matter how secure they seemed, no matter how old or young, how rich or poor, had need of me.” 61. _ the girl felt sad and lonely.A. Our suggestion is for people to increase their intake, through diet or a vitamin supplement, Dr. Cedric Garland said in a telephone interview. Garlands research team reviewed 63 studies, including several large long-term ones, on the relationship between vitamin D and certain types of cancer worldwide between 1966 and 2004. Theres nothing that has this ability to prevent cancer, he said, urging governments and public health officials to do more to fortify foods with vitamin D.Garland is part of a University of California at San Diego Moores Cancer Center team that published its findings this week online in the American Journal of Public Health. Vitamin D is found in milk, as well as in some fortified orange juice, yogurt and cheeses, usually at around 100 international units (IU) a serving. People might want to consider a vitamin supplement to raise their intake to 1000 IUs per day, Garland said, adding that it was well within the safety guidelines established by the National Academy of Sciences. The authors said that taking more vitamin D could be especially important for people living in northern areas, which receive less vitamin D from sunshine. African Americans, who dont produce as much of the vitamin because of their skin colour, could also benefit significantly from a higher intake, the authors said.71. According to the passage, people are advised to take more Vitamin D because_. A. it is nutritious B. it cant harm peoples health C. it can lower cancer risk D. it is not taken enough every day72. Which of the following can not help people get more Vitamin D? A. Have some sunshine B. Have more meat C. Have more fortified cheese D. Have a vitamin supplement73.Who can Garland probably be? A. A health researcher B. A doctor C. A scientist D. A public health official74.Which of the following food can lower peoples chance of getting cancer? A. Milk B. Fortified orange juice C. Fortified yogurt D. All of the above75.People from which area should take more Vitamin D according to the passage? A. Asian people B. African people C. American people D. European peopleIn peoples minds, Beijing women are taller, bold, and uninhibited, while Shanghai women are smaller in figure, and always speak in a soft voice. The image(形象.)of Beijing women is usually bigger than Shanghai womens. However, it turns out to be just the other way round after I have worked in Beijing for some time.Everybody goes Dutch in Shanghai; even at a grand party, but in Beijing it s usually the men s treat. And it is also impossible to invite a female friend who already has a boyfriend or a young married woman out, even if you promise to see her home that night,The conditions of the men in Beijing are no better at all. All their cellphones will ring one after another at 12 oclock sharp at night. The voice on the other end is usually loud enough for anyone nearby to hear. Where have you been? Do you remember that youve got a home? Now whos with you? and these three sentences are usually the main parts of the call.Shanghai women could never understand this. If it s a Shanghai woman who shouts in the phone, the Shanghai man on the other end must think that she is crazy (or drunk, perhaps). The Shanghainese go Dutch in life, and they appreciate the independence in both economic and love affairs. Many of my friend girls in Shanghai are office ladies with very high income. The tiredness of life cannot kill their pride in saying: I dont depend on any men. Thus no men can command them, for example, to force them to come back home before 10 pm. Beijingers do not admire the Shanghai way of life, anyhow. How can a couple be addressed as a couple when they dont know where the other has been last night? They wondered.76. The underlined word uninhibited in Paragraph One probably means _.A. relaxed enough to do as they like B. very cautious about their behavior
