毕 业 论 文（设 计）开 题 报 告1本课题的研究目的和意义The Snows of Kilimanjaro is a favorite short fiction among Hemingways works of African theme. As one member of the colonizing country, Hemingway reveals an unconscious sense of superiority to the blacks and shows thoughts usually held by imperialist countries. From the perspective of post-colonialism, these thoughts are discovered and analyzed in great details that we can easily find colonial and imperial discourse and the Imperial hegemony of west-centralism and racial superiority. The interpretation provides a bland new point of view for the reader to get a further understanding of this literary text. We will easily find that black Africans are in a colonized position of being marginalized and objectified losing their self-identity and equal rights of discourse in the post colonial period.2本课题的国内外研究现状The Snows of Kilimanjaro, published in 1966, is one of Hemingways best short fictions on African theme. Previously, readers tend to biographical reading which may neglect that Hemingways unconscious sense of superiority to the blacks. They have always appreciated it from the perspectives of symbolism, stream of consciousness, iceberg theory and so on. Nowadays, with the prevalence of postcolonial theories in cultural studies, critics pay more attention to the problems of complex class and racial oppression. They begin to realize there is obvious racial prejudice in the literary text in the imperialist epoch.3本课题的研究内容和方法The 1st part, it is the introduction of this work and the general idea of the analysis of this work at home and abroad. The main part of the paper is to interpret the Snows of Kilimanjaro from the perspective of post-colonial. This part will be divided into three parts：1) Comparing Hemingway to Harry by analyzing the story of Harry, the hero, and the authors experiences.2) Interpreting the relation between Hemingway and Africa, its natural redemption and Hemingways sense of superior as white race.3) Interpreting the dependence relationship between master and servant, the import of the whites life-style in Africa, proving the black people are deprived of discourse rights.
