There are no construction drawings for this sectionB. Scope of this Specification shall be the preparation of the site including clearing and grubbing procurement, transportation, and delivery of stolons; preparation for planting including soil tests, provision of seedbed mix, and temporary water system; planting of the stolons; fertilization, and maintenance of the area. The area shall consist of a total of 5 ha (5000) or 12.35 acres divided into two areas: one/half ha (1.25 acres) for the growth of certified Tifway 419 Hybrid Bermudagrass/Greenlees Park bermudagrass.1.03 Related Work:A. Clean-up: The Contractor(s) shall be responsible for full clean-up of the site on a continuing basis. The Contractor(s) shall provide receptacles for debris and rubbish and be responsible for hauling and disposing off-site in a manner acceptable to the Project Manager. Upon completion of all work under the Contract, the Contractor will be responsible for final clean-up of the project work surface to be cleaned as determined by the Project Manager. All debris shall be disposed of a sites or in methods approved in advance by the Project Manager.B. Irrigation: Contractor shall supply a temporary irrigation system to the nursery area. The source of water to be used shall be in ample supply and be available on a dependable basis.1.04 Quality Assurance:A. Substitutions: No substitutions are allowed in this section of specification.1.05 Submittals:A. The Contractor shall provide a written copy of the projected work schedule for the Project Manager prior to commencement of any work.B. The Contractor shall provide a sample of topsoil to be used to a USGA soil Testing Laboratory for Fertilizer recommendations and soil amendments, if any (as per section 1.05 ”Submittals of the Seedbed Preparation and Planting Specification”.C. Contractor shall submit authenticity of certification from Southern Turf Nurseries to Project Manager (for Tifway 419/Tifdwarf).PART 2-PRODUCT2.01 Materials:A. Growing Medium:1. Tifdwarf Area (0.5 ha) Identical seedbed mix as described in Section 2.01 of the “Golf Course Putting Green Construction” specification.2. Tifway 419 or Seashore Paspalum: Topsoil to be identical to that to be used on the final surface of the golf course as approved by the Project Manager.3. Fertilizers: A commercial, inorganic pellet or granular fertilizer containing a N:P:K ratio of 1:1:1 (Nitrogen, Phosphorous, Potassium) shall be applied as per section 3.03,B “Seedbed Preparation and Planting”,and according to soil test results for the topsoil.B. Stolons: Stolons shall certified stolons purchased from Southern Turf Nurseries, Tifton Georgia, USA. There shall be no exception or substitution. Contractor shall provide for an initial supply of a minimum of 400 bushels of Tifway 419, and a minimum of 100 bushels of Tifdwarf Hybrid Bermudagrass.Should Seashore Paspalum be used (as an alternative to 419), stolens should be obtained from an approved source or an alternative approved source.PART 3 - EXECUTION3.01 Location: Location of the nursery shall be in accordance with Project Managers direction.3.02 Preparation:A. Time Requirements: The turfgrass nursery shall be constructed as the first order of business in the construction process. There must be at least three months of growing time prior to the first transplantation onto any final golf course surfaces.3.03 Grading:A. Slope: The entire area shall be graded to a uniform slope of 3% (maximum5%). There shall be no low areas where water can pond.B. Erosion Protection: Swales shall be developed where necessary to divert and prevent run off water from entering the area and causing erosion.Silt fences of 18 in height similar to that used as a pvc lake lining material (20mm) shall be erected around perimeter of nursery area and to separate the 419 area/Greenlees park from the Tifdwarf area.3.04 Condition of Stolons: Project Manager shall judge whether or not the stolons received from Southern Turf Nursery are in the proper condition for planting. Project Manager shall also judge if stolons are ready for transplantation. If material is rejected, Contractor shall also replace the certified Stolons from Southern Turf Nurseries at his own cost.3.05 Initial Planting: Contractor shall hand spread the certified stolons from the center of each section of nursery area. The 419/Seashore Paspalum stolens should cover approximately one acre(0.40ha.);and the Tifdwarf should cover approximately 10,000 square feet(3050m2).3.06 Weed Control: Contractor shall keep nursery area completely weed-free by hand weeding or other means as approved by Project Manager during the entire nursery operation, or until nursery area is turned over to the Owner .Failure to do so will be cause for rejection of material.3.07 Watering: Contractor shall commence watering of stolons immediately after planting and keep the stolons in a moist, not wet, condition for the first two weeks.3.08 Transplantation: Contractor shall transplant stolons every two to three weeks until the entire nursery area is filled. Stolons shall be harvested by mechanical means,or as directed by Project Manager.3.09 Mowing: Mowing shall occur when the stolons reach 65mm in height. Mowing height shall be such that the stolons are never taller than 65mm,or lower than 40mm. Leaf clippings or other debris such as leaves, etc. Shall be completely removed after every mowing.3.10 Nursery Turnover: The turfgrass nursery shall be turned over to the Owner at the time of first watering of the last turfgrass on the golf-course. Owner may elect to take over maintenance of the nursery prior to that time with a written agreement between the Owner and the Contractor, at which time the Owner shall take full responsibility of the condition of the turfgrass within the nursery. END OF SECTION GOLF COURSE SURVEY STAKING AND LAYOUTGOLF COURSE SURVEY STAKING AND LAYOUTPART1-GENERAL1.01 Conditions: Requirements of the General Conditions of the Contract and of the Special Provisions-General Requirements are a part of and apply to all the work of this Section.1.02 Work Included:A. This section shall establish points plus the identification, through the use of survey methods on the job site, of the actual positions of reference points may have shifted during previous grading works-Contractor shall verify all points with Project Manager.Owner shall provide a professionally qualified survey crew to determine the locations of all primary reference points within the site (Tees, Greens, Turning Points, and Property Lines).B. The working drawing to be used with this section is the Staking Plan.1.03 Related Work:A. Clearing: Where necessary to execute the works of this section, clearing of brush may be applicable.1.04 Quality Assurance:A. Substitutions: Substitutions must be approved by Project Manager.1.05 Submittals: Flags or signs other than those specified within this section shall be submitted either by verbal description or photographs to Project Manager prior to commencement of work.PART2-PRODUCT AND EXECUTION2.01 Primary Reference Points:A. Designated by concrete, PVC over steel rebar, wooden or metal stakes not less than 3000mm in height and with a minimum diameter of 75mm.Posts shall be secured into the ground to stay throughout course construction.B. Each stake shall be designated by appropriate hole number and identification letter(s), for example: 17T(17tee), 17TP(Fairway turning point), and 17G(17green). Tee stakes to be spray painted fluorescent blue; turning point stakes to be painted fluorescent orange; green stakes to be painted fluorescent green.C. Horizontal tolerance for location of any reference point shall be 500mm.Property boundary limits shall not be crossed.D. Repositioning of the location of any reference point shall not be made without the specific approval of the Project Manager. END OF SECTIONCLEARING AND GRUBBINGCLEARING AND GRUBBINGPART 1 GENERAL1.01 General Provisions: The General Provisions preceding these specifications shall govern this section of the work.1.02 Work Included:A. Furnish all labor, materials, equipment and tools necessary to accomplish all clearing and grubbing work as indicated on the drawings and as specified herein.B. It shall be the responsibility of the Contractor to examine the project site and determine for himself the existing conditions.C. Obvious conditions of the site existing on the date of contract signing shall be accepted as part of the work, even though they may not be clearly indicated on the drawings and/or described herein or may vary therefrom.D. All debris of any kind accumulated from clearing or grubbing shall be disposed of offsite, and the whole area left clean. The Contractor shall be required to make all necessary arrangements related to the proposed place of disposal.E. The working drawings to be used within this section are the Rough Grading Plans.PART 2 PRODUCTS(Not Applicable)PART 3 EXECUTION3.01 Sequence of Work: All sequence of work shall be subject to the approval of the Project Manager.3.02 Protection:A. Adequate precautions shall be taken before commencing and during the course of the work to insure the protection of life, limb and property.B. The Contractor shall protect from damage all surrounding structures, trees, plants, grass, walks, pavements, utility boxes, etc.3.03 Permits: The Contractor shall obtain and pay for necessary permits prior to the commencement of work.3.05 Maintaining Traffic:A. The Contractor shall conduct operations with minimum interference to streets, roads and agricultural haul roads.B. When necessary, the Contractor shall provide, erect and maintain lights, barriers, etc., as required by traffic and safety regulations with special attention to protection of life and as per local regulations and codes.3.06 Construction Lines, Levels and Grades:A. The Contractor shall verify all lines, levels and elevations indicated on the drawings before any clearing, excavation or construction begins. Any discrepancy shall be immediately brought to the attention of the Project Manager and any change shall be made in accordance with his instruction. The Contractor shall not be entitled to extra payment if he fails to report the discrepancies before proceeding with and work whether within the area affected or not. B. All lines and grades shall be verified and established by a Licensed Surveyor or Civil Engineer.3.07 Clearing and Grubbing:A. The Contractor shall clear off and remove from the entire area within the area to be graded, all rubbish, grass and weeds, stumps, large roots. Buried logs, garbage and other unsuitable material. In the case of permitted burning, Contractor shall obtain approval of project Manager for locations of burn piles and burial sites prior to such work.B. The Contractor shall grub the ground surface within the area to be graded of all grass and weeds and tree root structures to 300mm below present grades. Grub out tree root structures.C. Any stumps and roots larger than 3 inches in diameter shall be removed to a depth not less than 450mm below the original grade level. Voids shall be filled with select fill to maintain indicated grade.D. No excavation or filling shall be undertaken until area has been cleared and grubbed.E. The Contractor shall perform all clearing and grubbing in accordance with local codes.3.08 Specimen Trees to Remain: Certain major or minor trees as indicated on the drawing are an important element in the golf course and shall remain at all costs unless directed by Golf Course Architect. Contractor shall clearly mark these trees in an obvious, identifiable manner and shall keep the trees unharmed throughout the entire project.3.09 Contract Zone Limits: The Limits of Clearing shown on the drawings indicate only in general the limits of the work involved. The Contractor, however, is required to perform any and all necessary and incidental work which may fall outside of these demarcation lines, The Contractor is also expected to confine all of his construction activities within the limits of clearing and not spread his equipment and materials indiscriminately about the area. Extreme care shall be taken not to disturb any natural or other features outside of Clearing Limits.3.10 Verification of Existing Grades: Utilities shown on the plan may or nay not be complete. The Contractor is responsible to verify all utility locations prior to commencement of work. . Immediately bring to the attention of the Project Manager any discrepancy and make any changes in accordance with his instructions.3.11 Selective Clearing: At any time during the Course of Construction, the Golf Course Architect may require the Contractor to remove specific trees which, in the Golf Course architects opinion, are not of particular value on the golf course. Some of the subject trees may already have been designated as trees to be saved. This work shall be considered incidental and the Contractor shall remove and dispose of such trees and roots without additional compensation from the Owner.3.12 CleanUp: The Contractor shall clean up and remove all debris accumulated from construction operations from time to time, when and as directed by the Project Manager, Upon completion of the construction work and before final acceptance of work, the Contractor shall remove all surplus materials, equipment, etc., and leave entire job site clean and neat.END OF SECTIONGOLF COURSE ROUGH GRADINGGOLF COURSE ROUGH GRADINGPART 1 GENERAL1.01 Conditions: Requirements of the General Conditions of the Contract are a part of and apply to all the work of this Section.1.02 Work Included:A. Construction drawings to be used with this section are the Grading plans; and the Cut and Fill Plan.B. Earthmoving shall consist of soil transport and contouring of the cut sites and various stockpiles of fill material using whatever mechanized equipment the Contractor deems suitable and desirable. It is intended that bulk transport of cut and fill materials shall blend directly into finish grading with no direct separation.The Grading Plans detail the desired finish grade elevations of fairways, teeing areas, sand bunkers and mounding, drainage swale slopes and general landforms. The contour lines indicated are to be followed closely in all grading and earthshaping. Supplemental field modifications to grading as directed by golf course architect shall be carried out by the Contractor at no additional cost to the Owner.1.03 Related Work:A. Clean-up of the Site: The Contractor(s) shall be responsible for full clean-up of the site on a continuing basis. The Contractor(s) shall provide receptacles for debris and rubbish and be responsible for hauling and disposing off-site in a manner acceptable to the Project Manager. Upon completion of all work under the Contract, the Contractor will be responsible for final clean-up of the project worksite. All cleaning shall be done in a manner appropriate for the surface to be cleaned as determined by the Project Manager. All debris shall be disposed of at sites or in methods approved in advance by the Project Manager.B. Irrigation: Irrigation system installation works may have commenced within scope of this specification.Coordination shall be necessary between the Contractor of this section and the Contractor of the Irrigation System Installation. Irrigation system installation may commence as the grading and earthshaping work is completed in a given area.Coordination between the Contractor performing the rough excavation and earthmoving and those following with the final contouring and shaping works is necessary. There shall be no significant visual separation or demarcation between excavation, transport, stockpile, grading and shaping. These various works should be performed in a continuous sequence.C. All buried work such as green, tee, and bunker drainage systems and carry-off lines shall be marked clearly in the field by the installing contractor and reviewed by the installing contractor and the irrigation contractor together in the field. Any and all damage done to such buried work by the irrigation contractor shall be his responsibility and shall be repaired at his expense.1.04 Quality Assurance:A. Substitutions: Substitutions must be approved by the Project Manager
