文档简介
1. It goes without saying that drawings aim at revealing a common and series problem in the world: how to protect the ocean resources.2. I cannot help relating these drawings to reality. They clearly show how human interpersonal relationships have developed.3. This is also true in the case of Singapore, which has many restrictions on cars.It is the same with African countries, which have huge debts. The same thing goes for aother cities in China. The same sort of thing happens in developed countries, though not as often. In this case, Shanghai can also serve as a good example. Keep a balance between work and life Present situation: Exposed to great stress and pressure, a great many modern people are forced to be “workaholics”. In todays fast-paced society, an increasing number of people ,driven either by their job or their ambition, work overtime even burn the mid-night candle almost everyday. They try to carve out their career via a dot-com start-up, sweating like work bees. To them, work is everything and therefore small wonder things like sleep-under-the-desk; never-log-off; and 24-7,etc are doubtlessly common. Problems: What problems may be caused by being a workaholic? A workaholic can not have a right work-life balance. They achieve certain success at the cost of physical (even mental )health. Some hard-working employees, driven either by the ambition of climbing higher on the corporate ladder or by the motivation of earning more money, are likely to encounter the problem of burnout and fatigue. For instance, those who often get themselves physically exhausted, probably suffer from poor appetite or stomachache which may lead to undernourished, etc. Those who frequently have their brain racked, possibly will be ill with insomnia. The sleeplessness and restlessness may ultimately lead to mental health problem. One of such mental health problem is depression which makes the sufferer fall into sadness, grief, even despair. Possible solution: If you were an employer, what practices would you adopt to assist employees and yourself to maintain work-life balance? As an employer in todays competitive world, I firmly believe in the idea of “do your best but dont kill yourself”. There are two key concepts that are relevant to each of us everyday. They are daily achievement and enjoyment. Achievement and enjoyment are the front and back of the coin of value in life. You cant have one without the other. Trying to live a one sided life is why so many successful people are not happy, or not nearly as happy as they should be. Although all successful businesses require lots of hard work, I assume that any sound business should make room for the personal lives of employees. According to my own experience, demanding long work hours from the employees can result in employees personal accomplishment and their becoming rich quickly. But the results can also include stress, family problems and even their health problems. As far as Im concerned, I would rather sacrifice some growth in revenue than work people 70 or 80hours a week. So, in my company working extra time is considered as the exception rather than as the norm. However, enjoyment does not just mean Ha-Ha happiness. It means pride, satisfaction, happiness, celebration, love, a sense of well being all the joys of living. For example, employees should have time with their family as well as their participation in community activities, voluntary work, personal development, leisure and recreation. In addition, employers should fully realized that its definitely necessary to reward spouses and significant others for their contribution to their partners success. Doubtless to say, the establishment of work-life balance will help to protect employees physical and mental health.Topics:1. Everyone wants to be successful in career and amounts to something. How do you define success in career? What are your standards of measuring ones success in career?High salary?A good position?A job that you are really interested in? A job that you can develop yourself?A stable job?Respect from your colleagues?Contribution to the company and society?2. More and more people are reported to be stricken with depression. What factors lead to so many people falling into depression? Are there any effective ways to avoid depression?Work pressureSevere competitionMore complicated relationships Pessimistic about the futureFamily burdenHealthful life styleMore communication with family members and friendsConsult doctorsHow to Develop Ones Creative ThinkingWhen we think of creative people, the names that probably spring to our mind are those of men such as Leonardo da Vince, Albert Einstein, and Pablo Picasso, i.e., great artist, inventors and scientists an exceptionally gifted body of men with rare talent and genius. the tasks we regularly have to facethe discovery and development of new methods and techniques, the improvement old methods, existing inventions and products.Everyone has creative ability to some extent. Creative thinking involves giving oneself a problem and then originating or inventing a solution with new and unconventional means and methods. It involves analyzing new issues, discovering new clues, and new applications of things that are already known. It is obvious that a creative person will display his great intellectual curiosity and imagination. He will be alert and observant with a great store of problems. He will be emotionally receptive to new and unconventional ideas. And most important of all, he will not be too concerned about other peoples reaction to his apparently “crazy or mad” ideas or notions. For instance, people called the Wright brothers mad but it did not stop them from becoming the first men to construct and fly a heavier- than-air craft.Present situationThe destruction of our natural resources and contamination of our food supply continue occur, largely because of the extreme difficulty in pinpointing legal responsibility on those who continue to treat our environment with recklessness. I believe we have a three-part mission for the present. First, we must continue to press for improvements in the quality of life that people can make for themselves. Second, we must investigate and understand the link between environment and health. Third, we must be able to communicate technical information in a form that citizens can understand. If we can accomplish these three goals in this decade, maybe we can finally stop environmental degradation退步, and not merely hold it back. We will then be able to spend pollution dollars truly on prevention rather than on bandages. As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of relaxation. Once you are in the habit of rushing through life, being on the go from morning till night, it is hard to slow down. But relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body.Stress is natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it. In fact, it is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be. A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life. It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health. The amount of stress a person can bear depends very much on the individual. Some people are not afraid of stress; others lose heart at the first signs of unusual difficulties. When exposed to stress, in whatever form, we react both chemically and physically. In fact we make choice between “flight and fight” and in more primitive days the choices led to the differences between life and death. The crises we meet today are unlikely to be so extreme, but however little the stress, it involves the same response. It is when such a reaction lasts long through continued exposure to stress, that health becomes endangered. Such serious conditions as high blood pressure on heart diseases have established links with stress. Since we can not remove stress from our lives (it would be unwise to do so even if we could), we need to find ways to deal with it.The positive and negative aspects of advertisingThe appeal of advertising to buying motives can have both negative and positive effects. Consumers may be convinced to buy a product of poor quality or high price because of an advertisement. For example, some advertisers have appealed to peoples desire for better fuel economy for their cars by advertising automotive products that improve gasoline mileage. Some of the products work. Others are worthless and a waste of consumers money.Sometimes advertising is intentionally misleading. A few years ago a brand of bread was offered to dieters (节食者) with the message that there were fewer calories (热量单位,大卡) in every slice. It turned out that the bread was not dietetic (适合于节食的), but just regular bread. There were fewer calories because it was sliced very thin, but there were the same number of calories in every loaf.On the positive side, emotional appeals may respond to a consumers real concerns. Consider fire insurance. Fire insurance may be sold by appealing to fear of loss. But fear of loss is the real reason for fire insurance. The security of knowing that property is protected by insurance makes the purchase of fire insurance a worthy investment for most people. If consumers consider the quality of the insurance plans as well as the message in the ads, they will benefit from the advertising. Each consumer must evaluate her or his own situation. Are the benefits of the product important enough to justify buying it? Advertising is intended to appeal to consumers, but is does not force them to buy the product. Consumers still control the final buying decision.Keep a balance between work and lifeFew of us can escape from rough competitions. There are damaged dreams, abandoned projects and missed promotions. Most of us face the pressures There are people who are especially attracted to the notion of “climbing the ladder” so as to increase their status, financial position, and sense of self-worth. Some people are internally “driven” to work. People have little time for leisure or personal relationships. In American English a new word, “workaholic”, has been created to describe an individual who is as addicted to work as an alcoholic is to liquor. There are conflicting points of view about workaholics. Those concerned with problems of mental stress believe workaholics abuse themselves physically and mentally. Others hold that workaholics are valuable members of society because they are extremely productive. The American culture values achievement, efficiency, and production-a workaholic upholds these values. Despite the presence of workaholics, there is a growing realization: people realize that excessive work demands can be physically and mentally harmful. Many people have been rebelling against the work ethic, claiming that when a job is too important, personal relationships suffer and relaxation becomes secondary. Consequently there has been a shift in values, with more emphasis being given to personal relationships and non-work activities. The development of ones compassionEach of us is important to ourselves, and we should take the best care of ourselves. But, there are other people in our lives who also deserve our attention and our help. If we spend all our attention taking care of ourselves and neglect the needs of others, we are in danger of wasting our lives. Very often the best way to take care of yourself is to do kind deeds to others. Kindness is a hard thing to give away. It keeps coming back to the giver,. It is like a boomerang. Giving does not diminish us, it enhances us. We say that “ a candle lights a candle”. Many candles can be lighted from a single candle. When we light other torches, we give light and warmth without losing either for ourselves.
