After that, we were asked to name our team to make it different to others. So our team leader found a fantastic name-Blue. There are six members in our team consisting of three boys and three girls. Afterwards, all group members began to discuss our topic. We talked a lot with each other. At last, it was our team leader who determined our title. And our title is American TV series & Chinese TV series, which do you prefer. We want to know how our school students will choose. Then, we adopted ourselves into the project. We did the field survey, individual interview, questionnaire survey on aspects of quantitative and qualitative analysis. From proposal to final presentation, we spared great efforts. Finely, we found the differences between American TV series and Chinese TV series and from these we knew the culture differences between America and China. Nowadays, a growing number of people are found of American TV series including students in southeast university. However, we hold the opinion that both American TV series and Chinese TV series are important to our life just as both American culture and Chinese culture are important. Methods and ProceduresAfter settling down our topic, we had some discussion, trying to figure out which aspects we are going to investigate, what questions we need to handle and what the result will be. Then we think and list some questions whose answers are vital for our research.Considering the location of the campus and our condition, we decided to conduct our research in the campus. Whats more, about a quarter of them like both the American TV series and Chinese TV series . So we could know that it looks like that more students like American TV series. Lets look at this table, we may find most students like American TV series for two reasons: to study English and like their plots. However, this phenomenon doesnt exist in Chinese TV series. Thats interesting, isnt it? I think it is the environment and different kind of characters that make a difference.We can see from the table that the students who like American TV series not only for study but entertainment as well and the students who like Chinese TV series think it closes to life so that they like it. On the other hand, there are many students think its boring and rigid(呆板) . We have divided these questions into nine parts including communication ,family, love, sex, dressing,etc. Most students think it influences them indeed but a little. For what we have been discussed above ,we have known that more students like American TV series though violent and pornographic(色情的), from which they can study and get entertainment. Our Chinese TV series should learn from them to make our TV series better and better.ConclusionAfter our investigation, we draw our conclusion like this: young people in SEU do love American TV series better than Chinese ones. Reasons can be multiple, most students in SEU are trying to get their English improved by watching American TV series and they like the plots. Also, compared with China, American playwrights and directors are more brave to put creative ideas into the TV series, not afraid of facing the sensitive topics. But Chinese TV series also gained its own fame. As most of its audiences are Chinese people, they are easily understood. The spirits of our nation have been deeply and vividly conveyed through domestic TV series. They are educating ordinary people with positive energy. American TV series or Chinese TV series, no matter which one people choose, its absolutely OK. They all can get what they want as well as the things that can secretly influence them.The reasons why these two kinds of TV series are different are complicated, besides the producing, culture, history, economy, and social classes can all be factors. But the most important one is always politics. USA and China are two different countries, almost different in every field.
