When AC power source is available, apply a two-wire single-phase system. The two wires are respectively a live wire and a zero wire, and power connection should be properly earthed. Before installation, check compliance of AC or DC input voltage with rated value and whether the polarity of DC power and grounding are correct. When connecting equipment located at different places, possible potential difference among different grounding wires may damage the equipment or cause performance deviation. Therefore, such potential difference must be eliminated before connection. Please ware an electrostatic ring when plugging, unplugging or touching the circuit since static discharge may damage the equipment. The equipment room should comply with relevant rules in the native country. Never put weight on or walk on the power cable; install protecting plates if necessary. Cooling holes on the frame or stander have been designed to prevent overheating of equipment, and mustnt be covered during running. If the circuit board is to be repaired, symptoms and relevant information must be specified in the guarantee form. Besides, the circuit board should first be put into static screen bag and wrapped in mats before being packaged together with the guarantee form and being returned to the UTStarcom for an overhaul.Contents ContentsIIndex of tablesIIIIndex of illustrationsIV1Overview11.1Product profile12Hardware structure12.1Appearance12.2Indicators12.3Ports22.4Side view33ONU 204i-h installation13.1Package contents13.2Preparation13.3Procedures24WEB configuration4-14.1System information4-14.2System management4-14.3System configuration4-44.3.1ONU configuration4-44.3.2PON configuration4-44.3.3Port configuration4-64.3.4VLAN configuration4-84.4Qos configuration4-94.4.1Algorithm4-94.4.2User priority mapping4-104.4.3DSCP priority mapping4-104.5Multicast configuration4-114.6MAC configuration4-124.7Upgrade4-134.8Restart ONU4-134.9User management4-145Technical parameters5-1AAbbreviationsA-1 Name and content marks of hazardous substancesA-3Index of tablesTable 2-1 ONU 204i-h meaning of indicators2Table 2-2 Port description3Table 5-1 Technical parameters5-1Table 5-2 Ethernet port parameters5-1Table 5-3 Optical port parameters5-2Index of illustrationsFig. 1-1 Network topological diagram1Fig. 2-1 ONU 204i-h front view1Fig. 2-2 ONU 204i-h back view1Fig 2-1 ONU 204i-h front panel indicators2Fig 2-1 ONU 204i-h rear panel ports2Fig 2-1 ONU 204i-h side view3Fig. 3-1 Cable connection diagram2Fig. 3-1ONU 204i-h back view2Fig. 3-1 ONU 204i-h port wiring3Fig. 3-2 ONU 204i-h wiring complete3Fig. 3-2 ONU 204i-h front panel indicators4IVONU 204i-h 光网络终端单元Users manualChapter II Hardware structure1 Overview1.1 Product profileEPON system of UTStarcom provides broadband operators a low-cost fiber access solution. This system is mainly composed of the OLT (optical line terminal) at operators central office and the ONU (optical network unit) at user end. The OLT generates optical fiber signals which are then transmitted, in a descending manner, to each optical fiber port; ONU serves as a remote transmission destination. The optical separator receives an optical signal from the OLT, splits it into multiple uniform signals and then broadcasts them to relevant ONUs each receiving respective optical fiber signals. Optical fiber signals ascending from the ONU end are transmitted in a time-slice method. Transmitter at the ONU end works in a burst mode. Ascending signals and descending signals share the same optical fiber. Length of ascending signal wave: 1310nm, length of descending signal wave: 1490nm. With current signal separating techniques, PON ports of each OLT can support up to 32 terminals (ONU). Using optical fiber, EPON can realize a transmission speed of 1.25Gbps, up to 20km in distance (32 shunts).Fig. 1-1 Network topological diagramInstalled indoors, ONU 204i-h provides four 10/100M Ethernet ports. Suppose its laid flat on the table. Four rubber pads are attached to the back of ONU 204i-h to stabilize it on a flat surface. Make sure the device is within the touch of power cable and EPON optical cable. Step 3: ONU 204i-h connection0 Wiring diagram of each ONU 204i-h port.Fig. 3-1 ONU 204i-h port wiringWiring should follow the procedures below:1 Optical cable: Plug optical fiber adapter of the SC cable into the EPON port at the rear panel ONU; this port is SC/PC.2 Power adapter: Plug AC/DC adapter into AC wall jack and ONU 12V DC power jack.3 Ethernet connection: connect RJ-45 Ethernet to any LAN (LAN1-LAN4) port and each family device (i.e. computer or household gateway) of ONU.0 Diagram of completed port wiringFig. 3-2 ONU 204i-h wiring completeStep 6: Check correctness of installation Check connection status through LED displayFig. 3-2 ONU 204i-h front panel indicatorsWhen ONU runs normally after power connection, POWER indicator is normally on with RUN and ALARM indicators flashing. If not, please check the fitness of power adapter and restart ONU. If this problem remains, consider ONU fault. When ONU runs normally after power connection, POWER indicator is normally on. If not, check whether optical fiber of PON port is firmly plugged, make sure the tail optical fiber is not bent or folded and optical power is not too low. If the problem remains, check operators network.4 WEB configuration ONU 204i-h has a built-in Web server which allows for examination of link state and configuration through Web interface.Login: default IP of ONU is .
