However, the most important job you have to do is to be always careful. If you feed them thewrong foods, youll suffer the consequences at last. The digestive track of African cichlids is so long that a little more protein to their diet will disturb their system. When their system gets disturbed, a parasite known as “Hex” begins to expand. As it grows, your fish will begin to swell up. When the parasite reaches acertain size, itll begin to eat your fish from the inside out. Its called Bloat, an illness whichis hard to deal with. So you know why I have lost all of nine fish within the last month.Luckily, it can be avoided by simply feeding them a diet high in vegetable matter. To figure out what is in any food, just look at the list of ingredients (成分) printed on it. Thefirst ingredient is the ingredient of the highest proportion in the food. The second one is the second highest. Therefore, to know if a fish food is high in vegetable matter, you should see vegetable ingredients closer to the beginning of the list.Typically, if a fish food is designed for African cichlids and its made from a reliablebrand, its typically a safe choice for your fish. Well, if you talk to experienced fish keepers, most of them will tell you to go with New Life Spectrum (NLS). Its a safe choice, one thats been around for many years and is still trusted by most. However, in the last few years, many people have preferred to choose NorthFin. The difference between these two kinds offish foods is that NorthFin includes clay into their fish food, while NLS doesnt.Whether this ingredient is extremely beneficial to your fish has been unclear so far, but there are two things that youre going to notice with NorthFin compared to NLS. First, it makes the fins of your fish grow much larger. Its a good thing, for large fins like thesereally make your fish look healthy. Second, when you open up the bag of NorthFin, the smell is greatly powerful. It smells like a healthier, hardier food compared to the pretty much smellless NLS.38Why did the authors fish die off?AHe always fed them too much.BA decline in water quality was to blame. CHe fed them an improper diet.DThe space in his fish tank was too limited.39What does the author say about NLS? AIts perfect for green fish keepers. BIt enjoys a good reputation.CIts popularity has declined considerably. DItll be replaced by NorthFin soon.40What is mainly stressed in the last paragraph? AThe features of NorthFin fish food.BThe function of the clay ingredient. CThe importance of healthy fish food.DThe taste difference between NorthFin and NLS.CAbout four in five US drivers experienced road rage (路怒症) at some point over the past year, according to a study. The study collected data from 2,705 licensed US drivers aged16 and up.They were asked how often they engaged in driving behavior generally regarded as aggressive.“Inconsiderate driving, bad traffic and the daily stresses of life can change minorfrustrations into dangerous road rage,” explains Jurek Grabowski, an author of the study.“Far too many drivers are losing themselves in the heat of the moment and trying to hit someone in ways that could turn deadly.”According to the study, 51% of the drivers tailgate (紧跟行驶) others on purpose on theroad.47% of the drivers yell at others.45% honk (按喇叭) to show annoyance or anger.Other common ways of acting out include making rude gestures, trying to block another vehiclefrom changing lanes or cutting off another car.Whats worse, some drivers go so far as todeliberately crash other vehicles or get out of their cars to find fault with another driver. Some behavior was more common among certain groups or geographic regions.Drivers, who reported breaking traffic laws like speeding or running red lights, were more likely to express aggressive behavior on the road.Male drivers were significantly more likely to engage in aggressive behavior than female drivers.Younger ones had a bigger tendency toexpress road rage.Drivers aged 25 39 were most likely to report a majority of theaggressive behavior examined in the study, while those aged 1924 were most likely to block other vehicles from changing lanes or intentionally blocking other cars.Drivers in the Northeast were almost 30 percent more likely to have made an angry gesture compared with those in other parts of the country. In the same region, drivers were also more likely to yell or honk.Of all drivers surveyed, around twothirds expressed the belief that aggressive driving is worse today than it was three years ago, and nineinten claimed that road rage does no good but harm to them.Previous studies have linked aggressive driving to a significant portion of fatal crashes.According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, between2008 and 2012, nearly 1,400 people died in fatal crashes tied to road rage or aggressive driving.41What may be the most common way to express road rage?AKeeping honking all the time. BChanging lanes randomly to block others. CDriving too closely to another vehicle. DRunning into another vehicle deliberately.42Who is most likely to block other cars on purpose? AA 30yearold female driver.BA 21yearold male driver.CA 39yearold Southeastern driver. DA 19yearold Northeastern driver.43What can we infer about road rage from the last paragraph? DEfforts should be made to protect people from it.44What is the purpose of this passage?ATo show the result of a study. BTo analyze the causes of road rage.CTo raise readers attention to road safety. Thats why we have called him theyoungest painter.Young people are always trying new things and new ways of doing things. Eager to experiment, they welcome new ideas. They are restless and alive and never satisfied. No one could be sure what kind of picture he would produce. If he had painted a picture of you it might have looked exactly like you. Or it might have been all lines, squares, circles and strangecolored shapes. Itmight not have looked human at all. At such times Picasso was trying to paint what he saw with his mind as well as with his eyes. He painted the side of the face as well as the front. He may have painted it flat, as though it had no depth. Sometimes he seemed to paint just as a child paints, simply for his own pleasure. He didnt imitate others.“If the subjects Ihave wanted to express have suggested different ways of expression, I have never hesitated to use them,” he said. Most painters discover a style of painting that suits them and stick to that, especially if people admire their pictures. But Picasso was like a man who had not yet found his ownparticular style of painting. Picasso painted a picture of Gertrude Stein in 1906. She visited the painters studio eighty or ninety times while he painted her picture. While Picasso painted they talked about everything in the world that interested them. Then one day Picasso wiped out the paintedhead on which he had worked for so long. “When I look at you I cant see you any more!”hesaid. Picasso went away for the summer. When he returned he went at once to the unfinished picture in the corner of his studio. Quickly he finished the face from memory. Hecould see the womans face more clearly in his mind than he could see it when she sat in thestudio in front of him. When people complained to him that the painting of Miss Stein didnt look like her, Picasso would reply, “Too bad. Shell have to arrange to look like the picture.” But thirty years later Gertrude Stein said that Picassos painting of her was the only picture thatshowed her as she really was.If ever anyone was born to be a painter, Picasso was. Picasso won a prize for his firstimportant painting, “Science and Charity”, when he was only fifteen. He studied art in several cities in Spain. But there was no one to teach him all he wanted to know. When he was nineteen he visited Paris, which was then the centre of the world for artists. When he was twentythree Picasso returned there to live and lived in France for the rest of his life. For several years of his depression, he painted people from the poorer parts of the city. His colors got darker. Most of these pictures were painted in shades of blue and showed very clearly what the artist saw and felt. The paintings of this “blue period” are full of pity and despair.Picasso did not have to wait long for success. As he began to sell his pictures and to become recognized as a painter his pictures took on a warmer look. At the same time he began to paint with more and more freedom and in
