A.300 yuan B.220 yuan C.180 yuanD.160 yuan BLast month, on Oct. 15, there was a marathon(马拉松赛) in the city of Luoyang, Henan Province. A lot of people in and around the city took part in it. It was Sunday. There were some clouds in the sky in the early morning but the sun was shining when the race began. Eighteen boys and girls in my class, as well as four of my teachers, gathered on the south side of Luohe River to take part in the marathon. It was the first time that we had been in a marathon. We were excited and had fun running with people. We had to run 10 km. It was not a race, but an event to challenge ourselves. We helped each other during the run. When someone fell behind, others would go to encourage him or her not to give up. Tired but happy, all of us made it in about 90 minutes. The marathon is like life, in which we can choose whether or not to keep going when we feel tired or meet difficulties. The biggest enemy(敌人) is ourselves, whom we should fight with and defeat(打败). We never know what will happen in the future, but what we can do is to try our best. If we can keep running, success will belong to us, because its impossible to defeat a person who never gives up. Challenges make life interesting and meaningful. This very first marathon will always be remembered as an unforgettable event in my life. 4. Recently my class had a field trip to the Cadbury Chocolate Factory in Toronto, Canada. We were divided into 10 groups and visited an old building. The guide first explained the history of the factory. Then we got some earbuds(耳塞) to protect our ears from the noise of the machines. We also needed to wear disposable(一次性的) lab clothes and hairnets(发网) to make sure we didnt dirty their work area. After these preparations, we went upstairs and entered the chocolate-making area. The floor was filled up with many machines. Each machine had a different job. The whole floor only had two people working, because machines did most of the work. Next, the guide explained the history of chocolate making. There was a picture of the factory 100 years ago, and there were more than 1,000 people working in the factory. But now the factory is very different. Its amazing how technology is changing peoples life.Later, we saw the chocolate-making process. We got a cocoa bean, some powdered(粉状的) chocolate and a final chocolate product. I opened the cocoa bean and tasted it. It tasted bitter, kind of like dark chocolate. It is the raw material used to make chocolate. The powdered chocolate tasted good already. It is a combination of cocoa beans, milk and sugar. The final product tasted delicious. Finally, we bought some chocolate at a shop in the factory. It was at a very low price. This field trip taught me how important technology is. But he still felt happy for getting one.Two of the queens men appeared. One carried a mirror. Red jewels(珠宝) shone on top of the mirrors silver frame(框架). The other carried a wooden cage with a chicken inside it.“Only one gift can be yours,” the queen said. “Choose wisely.” “Thats easy,” Peter said. “Ill take the chicken.” Some of the queens men laughed. It was clear that they thought he had made a foolish choice. “And why did you choose the chicken?” the queen asked. “Well, I dont know much about jewels,” Peter answered. “But I do know about chickens. The chicken will provide eggs for my family for a long while.”Queen Olivia smiled. “Then you did make a wise choice,” she said. “That mirror may look beautiful.
