It was the first time she had ever left her motherland. 译:这是她第一次离开自己的祖国。链接高考:句中的It was the first time (that) . 意为“这是第一次”, that引导的是定语从句, 从句通常用过去完成时, that可以省略。此外,在It is the first time (that) .中, 从句通

13、常用现在完成时。此句型中的first也可以是second / third .。e.g. It is the first time that he has been to Beijing. 这是他第一次去北京。The teacher criticized him, because it was the second time he had made the same mistake. 老师批评了他, 因为这是他第二次犯同样的错误。小试 用以上句型翻译下列句子。 这是他第一次接受我的建议。It is the first time that he has taken my advice 昨天, 我为

Its not just study that is difficult. 困难

15、不仅仅在学习方面。强调句的肯定句结构:It is (was) 被强调部分(不强调谓语)+ that (who) +句子其他部分。此结构强调的成分仅限于主语, 宾语和状语。 e.g. It is from the sun that we get light and heat. It was not until I had read your letter that I understood the true state of affairs.3. You have to get used to a whole new way of life, which can take up all your

16、 concentration in the beginning.语法结构分析:此句中which引导的非限制性定语从句指代前面的一句话。which引导的非限制性定语从句不仅能修饰前面的先行词, 还可指代前面的一句话。考例1 By serving others, a person focuses on someone other than himself or herself, _ can be very eye-opening and rewarding. 18、know what I thought, which confused me because I thought that the author of the article knew far more than I did. 翻译 他想知道我所想的是什么。这倒把我弄糊涂了, 因为我认为这篇文章的作者知道的比我多得多。点拨 该句是一个复合句。主句是He wanted to know what I thought; 从句是which引导的非限制性定语从句, which指代前面整个主句的内容。此外, 主句中, 包含一个what引导的宾语从句; which引导的从句中包含一个because引导的原因

19、状语从句, 该原因状语从句中又包含一个that引导的宾语从句, 而该宾语从句中又包含一个than引导的比较状语从句。6. My tutor explained that I should read lots of different texts that contain different opinions and analyse what I read. 翻译 我的导师解释说, 我应该阅读大量的、有关不同观点的文章, 并进行分析。点拨 该句是一个复合句。主句是My tutor explained; 从句是第一个that引导的宾语从句(从that一直到句末), 作explained的宾语。此从
