And most Muslimsdont celebrate their birthdays.Pat: I think Shaheen has raised an interesting pointhere. The Christian ch
4、urch, too, was actively againstcelebrating birthdays.Shaheen: Of course some Muslims do celebrate theirbirthdays.In Egypt,Turkey and Indonesia,forexample,the richpeople invitefriendsand familiesaround.Butnot in small villages.Chairman:Here in England your twenty-firstused to bethe big one. In Finland, for example,eighteenisthe age when you can vote,you know, or buywines, drive a car and so on. But in Japan I think youhave to wait till youre twenty be

20、brideand bridegroomare bowing to them. The bridegroom in his long gownlooks very respectful. The bride is dressed in brightred but we cant see her face since it is covered witha pieceof red cloth.Along the two sidesof the weddinghall stand the family members, relatives and friends.Pictures (f) (h) s
21、how a wedding banquet held in abig restaurant in China.In Picture(f),we can see the brideand the bridegroomstandingat the entrancegreetingthe guests.The bridewears a long white dress, and the bridegroom is in atuxedo. In Picture (g), we find ourselves in a largebanquet hall, decorated with the cheer
22、ful colors of awedding party.About a hundred guests are seated aroundtablesthatare graced withallkindsof deliciousfoodand drinks. The host, who is the father of the bridegroom, is making a speech, expressing his thanksto the guests for coming to his sons wedding. In Picture (h) the bride has changed
