2、ated debates among both citizensand peasants.Peoplemultiplydailyarecomplainingagainsttheskyrocketing housing prices.Yesterday, I saw a TV program through Shenzhenchannel concerning the soaring housing prices in ourcountry. That program dispatched many journalists tohave interviewswith thepublicinwhi

3、ch theyareaskedaboutwhatretheiropinions ofthetheme. Unexpectedly,mostoftheintervieweesmake complaintsaboutthesoaringhousingprice.They holdfirmlytobeliefthatsuch state of affairs is irrational and abnormal. Thehigher housingpricesare, thelesspeoplewhocanaffordit.Hence,thismayconducetoexceedinglysever

4、e living problems. With no lodgings to live in, people begin to do something immoral, and more crimeswill come forth, then, social instability ensue. Outof thispoint,some peoplemay blame thegovernmentfornot being able to command macroscopic regulation suchas notcrackingdown on illegalpurchasingappro

5、aches.While others hold the view that some special groupsshouldtakeresponsibilityforthesoaringhousingpricesproblem.As some wealthypeopleorpowerfulpersonages are in pursuit of being wealthier by owing more housesthroughproperorimproperways,thehousing pricesareforcedtoberaised.Constantcomplaintsagains

6、tsoaringhousingpriceswillcontinueunlessthattendency drops off.Afterstatingthisuniversalcomplaintagainstsoaring housing prices, I would like to come up withmy viewpoints.Personally,I deem thatthisproblem isreally a hot potato. It depends on the governmentalcontrol and personal morality. However, in o

7、rder tostop the housing prices from going up, I stick to theidea thatthecentralgovernmentshouldmakesomeeffective laws , levy more taxes on house property just as western countries do to restrict rich people to purchasing and selling their houses. With the mutual efforts made by people and the govern

11、vies, called Gorillas in the Mist, based on a truestoryofMrs.DianFossey,whospentmostofbetlifetimein Rwanda toprotectthe ecoenvironmentthereuntil the very end of her life.To me, the movie not only presents an unforgettable scene but also acts as a 6) timeless reminder that we should not develop the t

12、ourist industry at the cost of our ecoenvironment.Today, we live in a world of prosperity but stillthreatened by so many new problems. On the one hand,tourism,as one ofthemost promisingindustriesinthe21stcentury,providespeoplewiththegreatopportunity to see everything there is to see and togo any pla

13、ce there is to go. It has become a lifestylefor some people, and has turned out to be the drivingforceinGDPgrowth.Ithas the magic toturna backwardtown into a wonderland of prosperity. But on the otherhand, many problems can occur-natural scenes arentnaturalanymore.Deforestationtoheatlodgesisdevastat

Oil spills from tourist boats arepollutingAntarctica.Tribalpeopleareforsakingtheirnativemusicand dress tolistentoU2 on Walkmanand wear Nike and Reeboks.All these7) appallingfactshave broughtus totherealizationthatwecanno longerstandbyanddonothing, because the very thought of it has been 8

Encouragingly, the explosive growth of global travel has put tourism again in thespotlight,which iswhy theUnited Nationshas made 20xxthe year of ecotourism, for the first time to bring tothe worldsattentionthe benefitsoftourism,but alsoits capacity to destroy our ecoenvironm

16、ent.Noweveryyear,manylocalecoenvironmentalprotectionorganizationsan:receivingdonations-bignotes, small notes or even coins-from housewives, 9)plumbers,ambulance drivers,salesmen,teachers,children and 10) invalids, Some of them can not affordto send the money but they do. 18、tsallcomingfromascenetoremember, a scene to recall and to cherish.The other night, as l saw the moon linger over thelandand beforeitwas sentintotheinvisible,my mindwas filled with songs. 19、ce untouched, a fieldof grass where no one seem to have been except the deer. And all those unforgettable scenes strengthenedthe feeling that its lime for us to do something, for our own and our coming generation.Once again, I have come to think of Mrs. Dian Fossey be- cause its with her spirit, pas

22、thecomingof a new century.Im grateful that Ive been given this opportunity,atsuch a historicmoment, tostandhereas a spokesmanofmy generationand totakea serious lookbackat thepast 15 years,a crucialperiod forevery one ofus andfor this nation as well.Though it is only within my power to tell about myp

23、ersonal experience, and only a tiny fragment of it atthat, it still represents, I believe, the root of aspirit which has been essential to me and to all thepeople bred by the past 15 years.In my elementary years, there was a little girl inthe class who worked very hard but somehow could neverdo sati

24、sfactorily in her lessons.The teacherasked me tohelp her,and itwas obviousthat she expected a lot from me. but as a young boy,restless, thoughtless, I always tried to evade her soas to get more time to enjoy myself.One day before the final exam, she came up to meand said, Could you please explain th

25、is to me? I wantvery much todo betterthistime.Istartedexplaining,and finished in a hurry. Pretending not to notice herstillconfusedeyes,Iranoffquickly.Natsurprisingly,she againdidverybadlyinthe exam. Andtwo months later,at thebeginningofthenew semester,word came ofher deathofbloodcancer.No one everk

26、newaboutthe littletaskI failedtofulfill,but I couldntforgivemyself.I simplycouldntforgethereyes,whichseem to be asking, Why didnt you do a little more tohelp me, when it was so easy for you? Why didnt youunderstand a little better the trust placed in you, sothat I would not have to leave this world

27、in such painand regret?I was about eight or nine years old at that time,butina way itwas theverystartingpoint ofmy life,for I began to understand the word responsibility andtolearntoalwaysdomy dutiesfaithfullyanddevotedly,forthe implicationsofthat sacredword hasdawned on me: the mutual need and trus

28、t of people, theco-operationand inter-reliancewhichare the veryfoundation of human society.Later in my life, I continued to experience manyfailures. But never again did I feel that regret whichstruckme at the deathof thegirl,foritmakes my heartsatisfied to think that I have always done everythingin

29、my power to fulfill my responsibilities as best Ican.As Igrew up, changed and improvedby thisincidentand many other similar ones, I began to perceive thechanges takingplace aroundme and to findthatsociety,in a way, was in its formative years like myself. Newbuildings,new commoditiesandnew fashionsap

30、pearevery day.New ideas,new information,new technologies.People can talk with each other from any corner of theearth in a matter of seconds. Society is becoming morecompetitive.nds.Societyisbecomingikeindividualityandcreativity are getting more emphasis and more peopleare rewarded for their hard wor

31、k and efforts. Such isthe era in which this generation ,grows and matures.Such is the era in which this generation will takeover the nation from our fathers and learn to run it.Yet in the meantime, many problems still exist.We learn that crimes take place in broad daylightwith crowds of people looki

32、ng on and not assisting. Wehear that there are still about 1 million children inthis country who cant even afford to go to elementaryschoolswhileenormoussumsofmoneyarebeingsquandered away on dinner parties and luxury cars.We buy shoddy medicines, or merely worthless junkin the name of medicines, tha

33、t aggravate, rather thanalleviateour diseasessince money, many people believe,is the most important thing in the world that must bemade,evenattheexpenseofmoralityandresponsibility.Such an era, therefore, determines that we are agenerationwithakeener senseofcompetitionandefficiencyand a greaterreadin

34、esstothinkcriticallyand act creatively.Such an era, furthermore, demands, that we are ageneration with a clear perception of our historicalresponsibility and an aggressive will to take actionand solvethe problems.Historyhas longbeen preparingthese qualitiesinthisgenerationand itisnow callingusforwar

35、dto givetestimonyto ourpatriotismandheroism towards this nation and all humanity.Standing here now, I think of the past 15 years ofmy life as an ordinary student. Probably Ill be anordinary man for the rest of my life. But this doesntdiscourage me any, for I know that with my sense ofresponsibility and devoted efforts to always strive,forthebest,itsgoingtobe ameaningfulandworthwhile life th
