Hating the headmaster, helping nuns raise money for survivors, caring his sister carefully,Holton was really aboy beyond a protagonist in the novel.What on earth made Holton become such a

4、 kind of younger? In my opinion, there are three reasons. Firstly, every person lives in his specific social background. The book was written after the Second World War, the American society and economy was waiting to recover to the level before the Second World War. Secondly, different person has d

5、ifferent living conditions. Holton was living in a middle class. He don t worry about how to live. So he had much free time to think about the society. And his education in the school planted the social responsibility deeply in his heart. Thirdly, the American value makes contributions to it. It emp

6、hasizes a single person is more important than collectivity, which is much different from the values of us.
