Study ing this course should provide you with an overview of the problems facing a finan cial man ager in the commercial world. It will introduce you to the concepts and theories of corpora

4、te finance that underlie the techniques that are offered as aids for the un dersta nding, evaluati on and resoluti on of finan cial man agers problems. This subject guide is written to supplement the Essential and Further reading listedfor this course, not to replace them. It makes no assumpti ons a

5、bout prior kno wledge other tha n that you have completed Prin ciples of acco un ti ng. The aim of the course is to provide an un dersta nding and aware ness of both the un derly ing con cepts and practical applicati on of the basics of finan cial man ageme nt. 15、e in class is a very important part of your learning experienee. As such, failure to attend class will reduce your grade, and maybe grounds for failure in the course. If you are late to class, your attendance score mayalso be affected. In the eve nt of un avoidable abse nces, such as serious ill nes

16、s, or deaths in the family, stude nts may be requested to provide docume ntary evide nee of the reas on for their abse nee to their academic coordi nator. You should not give these to your in structor. Stude nts are solely responsible for the makeupof any missed classes, and for obtaining any class

17、materials or assig nments that they may miss. You are expected to come to class prepared to actively participate in class discussi ons. Participati on Policy Students should participate in theirchosen classes actively and effectively.The ParticipationGrade is related to the Attendance Grade. Student

18、s final attendance grade is the maximum of their participation grade. Participationgrade will be based on a variety of factors including,but not limited to taking part in class discussions and activities, completing assig nmen ts, being able to an swer questio ns correctly, obey ing class rules, and

19、 being prepared for class, freque nt visit ing your in structors and chatting in English during their office hours is highly recommended. Policy on Assig nments and Quizzes Students should finish their assignments completely and punctually. Assig nment should be submitted on the date appo in ted by

20、the in structor. If a stude nt cannot hand in the assig nment on time, the reas on able excuse will be n eeded. Late assig nments will receive a maximum grade of 80. An assig nment that is late for 3 days will be corrected but receive 0. You are recommendedprint all your assignment in the uniform fo

21、rmat with the heading of Student s Pledge of no cheating. Written assignment or printed ones without the uniform heading of pledge will receive a maximum grade of 80. It is mandatory to have weekend assignment every week. Any weekend assignment should be submitted on first class of next week. It is

22、mandatory to have holiday assignment on the public holidays. Any holiday assignment should be submitted on the first day on returning to school. Students are required to do a multitude of presentations during the course. Plagiarism and Copy ing Plagiarism is using some on eelse s work or ideas as yo

23、ur own without giving them proper credit or copy ing some one else s work and prese nting it as your own.There has a very strict plagiarism policy and will not tolerate academic cheati ng in any form. Pen alties can be as severe as expulsi on from the uni versity. At the very least, no one will rece

24、ive any credit for assig nments that appear to be copied from ano ther stude nt. To avoid plagiarism, do your own work, or cite the work of others appropriately. You can refer to the course catalogue for more informationabout plagiarism policy. If you cheat on the homework, I can guarantee you that

25、you will fail the class. Every exam I give has several problems that require you to submit journal en tries, create finan cial stateme nts in proper form, or to create schedules show ing certa in details that you have to calculate. If you do not practice doing these things by doing the homework your

26、self and correcting your own work in class, you will lose a significantnumber of points on the exams. Classroom Policies No eating, cellular phones, electronicdictionaries,smoking, chatt ing or drows ing in class. Please speak in En glish rather tha n Chin ese in class. Stude nts are not allowed to
