、一、关于选秀节目Over the past couple of years, a variety of talent shows have emerged on TV channels across the nation, from Super Girls to Happy Boys and so forth. This type of entertainment program is intensely popular, especially among young adults and has produced profound impacts on their studies and l
、ife. There are a couple of reasons behind the tide. To start with, young folks need role models to learn from. So many of them are crazy for contestants participating in these programs. This gives rise to the increasing emergence of these shows because TV networks naturally need to cater to young au
、diences. Plus, thanks to economic and political reforms carried out by the government, this crop of young generation have more freedom and desire to express and showcase themselves. Therefore, a growing number of young people desire to get involved in these shows. This is a divisive topic. On my per
、sonal level, the talent show is a superb means of relaxing and amusing and can hugely relieve our strains. As college students, however, we could not afford to indulge in them and should be aware of the utmost importance of studies.二、食品安全问题On the Food SecurityOver the past couple of years, several c
、ases of the food scandal have been disclosed on various media. The problem of food security has become a hot button across society. The prevalence of food insecurity has greatly impacted public health, which the government could not afford to ignore, according to the online edition of the People Dai
、ly. There are a couple of driving forces, I would argue, behind this undesirable tide. First, in the course of the rapid economic evolution, we ignore moral education, giving rise to the rising rate of the problem. More importantly, the lack of adequate regulation and punishment on those illegal pro
、ducers enforces the trend. As Confucius instructed, it is better late than never. Prompt and strict measures should be taken to turn back this evil trend. The government should launch a massive moral campaign to educate all citizens and draw up tougher laws to crack down on those irresponsible corpo
、rations and prohibit them from entering the food industry again. I am firmly convinced that through our combined efforts we are bound to enjoy more risk-free foods in the days ahead.三、网上求职Nowadays, there is a completely new way of finding jobs for college graduates and laid-off workers. Instead of l
、ooking for a job in the newspapers ads or job markets, a job seeker can go on the internet to browse for a job. In fact, as this new way of job-hunting promises to be more successful, many people prefer it to the old traditional way. There are many reasons for their preferences. First, it is conveni
、ent. A job hunter can find a job without bothering to ask for help from his relatives or friends or register at an employment agency. Besides, it is efficient. A job seeker can get a job by simply browsing among the want ads online and sending one's resume via e-mail. Finally, the success rate i
、s usually higher, and even if one fails to find a job it can spare one the embarrassment of being rejected. All in all, I believe, with the increasing popularity of the Internet, this new method will win more and more favor among job seekers. 四、电子书籍的前景Many people believe that with the development of
、 computer technology, electronic books will replace books in their present form to become the chief mode of reading. Even now, we have mini electronic dictionaries and CDs which hold dozens of classical works. The day won't be far off when we can have a notebook-sized LCD screen, which presents
、any page we want to read from a long book list. Just imagine . everything you could want to read is contained in a few "notebooks"! People will no longer have to make room for heavy books or carry them around. However, convenience is not the only thing. Although electronic books will be ea
、sy to carry and store, they don't provide the old pleasure of fingering through a favorite paper book. To many people, electronic things are more "inhuman" and more unreal. Besides with the copyright issue, an electronic book containing hundreds of books may be too expensive for most p
、eople, which might hinder its production. In my opinion, e-books will become popular in the future for their compactness and convenience, but they cannot entirely replace paper books. Just as the existence of mini electronic dictionaries today does not mean the end of quality paper dictionaries. 五、选
、择好专业还是还大学Every student will be faced with the same question when he passes the College Entrance Examination: should he choose a good major or a good university? Different people will offer different answers. Some students give priority to a good major. What they cherish is a specialty they like most
、. To their mind, whether or not the university is famous doesn't matter-so long as he works hard, he can learn well in any university, and a bright future is awaiting him. Other students pay more attention to the fame and quality of the universities. They attach great importance to the universit
、y because the environment is vital to the making of an excellent person and is the symbol of good job prospects. How can you have a wide vision and a broad horizon if you receive your education at a small college? Frankly, the best choice is a good major at a good university. We can only get such a
、chance after making great efforts. If we cannot obtain both, the first thing to consider is a good major itself. 六 文凭In modern society, we come across many people who put too much emphasis on diplomas. In many cases, the diploma has become the sole criterion for judging a person, deciding whether he
、 can get an opportunity or even get a job. I argue that we should not put too much emphasis on diplomas. To begin with, we should not take it for granted that those who hold one or two important diplomas will naturally do a good job. Moreover, on and off campus, people are busy taking part in all ki
、nds of training classes, where they are taught only specific skills for passing examinations and obtaining diplomas. What worries me most is that fake diplomas are on the rise: the buyers want to get the diploma without working hard while the sellers want to make easy money. All that has been discus
、sed above points to the fact that if we want to evaluate and judge a person objectively, we should find out his practical abilities when taking diplomas into consideration. 七、校园礼貌至关重要With the prevalence of different fashions and gradual change of people's traditional ideas, many people, especial
、ly young people on campus, tend to place more emphasis on personality and freedom than on manners or etiquette. They think manners are not necessary, and they don't want to get in the way to be polite. However, I think manners are of vital importance on campus. Firstly, keeping good manners is t
、o show a basic respect to others. Take table manners for example, one should, in most cases, start to eat only after others have sat down, although he may be terribly hungry. It is impolite to eat before others are seated. For another example, when talking with others, one should also pay attention
、to his manners. Don't argue, brag or exaggerate, give others a chance to speak. This is the basic respect to others. Secondly, good manners, as a tool of communication, can smooth the relationships between people. A soft THANK YOU or SORRY will make people feel closer to each other and even thaw
、 frosty relationships. Good manners are the virtue of people. As manners change, people should find out what the new manners are, comply with them, and our lives will become more peaceful and beautiful. 八、性教育With China's door open wider, and with AIDS and STDS threatening people more than before
、, it's urgent that we provide sex education, especially among college students on campus, and it is even necessary to start from middle school. Why? Obviously, there are several reasons for providing such education. First, from the physiological point of view, younger generations are generally m
、ore sexually precocious due to improved living standards and better nutrition. Second, from a psychological point of view, nowadays students are encouraged to be more liberal toward sex by more and more indecent content on the net, pirated VCD's or pornographic publications. Finally, it's na
、tural and necessary to dispel the mystery shrouding sex as students approach adolescence and especially adulthood. Otherwise, it will leave students ignorant or thirsty for sexual knowledge. Thus it produces side effects for society. As a result, now more than 50% of the AIDS suffers in China are ag
、ed between 20 and 29, partially due to the lack of sex education. To sum up, we should view sex education as a necessary component of the entire education program and give proper weight to it. Only in this way can students grow up physiologically and psychologically. And only in this way can we hope
、 to prevent the spread of STDS and AIDS in China. 九、关于大学生同居There is an increasing tendency for college students to cohabit outside campus. With this growing phenomenon, people have been holding heated discussions about the rights and responsibilities of love on campus. Why do more university student
、s choose cohabitation? There are two main reasons, a physical one and a mental one. With living conditions becoming better, students become mature when they are only 12 to 14 years old, and some even younger, while the average age for marrying nowadays is about 25. Thus there exists a long period be
、fore they get married, which gives the possibility for cohabitation. From a psychological viewpoint, reasons for cohabitation are curiosity, loneliness, misdirection in the search for excitement and misunderstanding of the values regarding love, which lead to cohabitation. Love on campus cannot be s
、imply said to be a fault, but how to show your love and to take responsibility for what you have done are the key issues of our concern. College students should take into consideration their behavior and its result, which should do no harm to either themselves or society. If they have a baby, what s
、hould they do? Have an abortion or give birth to it? For most college students, they don't even have the ability to support themselves, so how can they have the ability to meet the economic needs for cohabitation? From what has been discussed above, I think that cohabitation is a serious issue o
、n campus, and should receive special attention. 十、中国房地产应降温China's real estate temperature is running a bit high, with some investors pouring money into the sector blindly while paying little heed to future demand. The problem is particularly serious in parts of China where the real estate market
、 is only beginning to develop. Economists have said that there has been feverish investment in real estate-not only in large cities like Beijing and Shanghai-but also in some second-tier cities along China's east coast. These include Hangzhou, midway up the eastern coast, Harbin in the northeast
、, and Shijiazhuang-a three-hour drive northeast of Beijing. Excessive investment in real estate began when local investors found few other profitable uses for their hard-earned money. he government should issue a warning now. Even though the investors are in China for the long term and are not likel
、y to pull out, the market will cool down during the coming years, I'm sure. 十一、美女经济遭质疑The unfettered passion for beauty-centered activities in China has been widely questioned by law-makers, because it is considered likely to have a negative impact on women's development. Government departme
、nts should immediately codify the rampant beauty contests being held across the country. Beauty contests had remained a taboo in China for treating women like "unliving objects" until a string of international beauty contests came to China towards the end of 2003. The noticeable success of
、 the Miss World pageant in Sanya not only attracted similar international events but also spawned a considerable number of local beauty contests. It was predicted that the number of tourists to a city holding beauty contests would increase. Idolizing physical beauty has also lead to a surging demand
、 for cosmetic surgery among Chinese women. 十二、 毒品是对年轻人的第一大威胁Since drugs first became widely used, their usage has become more rampant. There are now various kinds of drugs. According to official reports, a large proportion of drug addicts are under 35. Today, it is not rare to see young people using
、 "ecstasy tablets". Evidently, drugs are the hidden danger to our youth. From the current situation, we can see that there are two major reasons for this. For one thing, young people in many places have limited access to knowledge about drugs. Some college students, who are thought to be m
、ore knowledgeable, don't consider cocaine to be a drug, let alone the youth in less developed areas. For another, the influences of peer pressure and the surroundings play an important part. Many students facing pressure from their parents, teachers and a more competitive society are likely to t
、ake drugs for comfort. Still, the efforts to fight against drugs have proved to be inadequate. Therefore, it's urgent for us to improve the education of the younger generation and prevent them from falling into the quagmire of drugs. Furthermore, parents and teachers should learn to improve thei
、r communication skills and provide emotional support for their children or students. 十三、西部服务计划Co-organized by the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Youth League and the ministries of education, finance and personnel, the program of volunteers serving the country's western areas started
、in 2003. It is estimated that, to date more than 30,000 students have been involved in the program. They have responded to the nation's "go-west" call to devote themselves to fields such as education, rural medical support, basic agricultural training and legal consulting in the areas
、of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and Tibetan Autonomous Region etc, which are located in the north-west of China. This program has been widely accepted as a reciprocally beneficial experience for both volunteers and locals. It benefits the locals in the west and pro
、vides an opportunity for college graduates to hone their skills in practical work at the same time. A growing number of college students cherish it as a prime textbook-to-practice opportunity even though it means many unexpected difficulties. Besides, working with the less developed ethnic minoritie
、s is an urgent mission for them. It will surely be a life-long unforgettable valuable experience to them. Organizers of the program guarantee returning volunteers priority access to help with job-hunting and further study opportunities after completing their one or two years tenure. 十四、 对工作的不满Nowada
、ys, with the quickening pace of modern life, many people are confronting greater competition and pressure at work. Instead of happiness, they find only dissatisfaction in their work. There are several reasons for this. To begin with, dissatisfaction with work is mainly because of heavy pressure from
、 work. Everybody knows that work should make life better and help people become happier, but high work pressure in the modern world means that work deviates from its original aim. A busy work schedule leaves people both physically and mentally exhausted. Besides, we experience no sense of happiness as we consider our jobs as a way to make money and nothing else. Our current jobs cannot bring us a sense of success and help us realize our value. Lastly, un
