1、The Seventh Period从容说课This is the seventh period ofthis unit, the end of this unit.After finishinglearning thisunit , students should know how well they did and how they can improve themselves.They shouldlearnhow to evaluatethemselves.Therefore,inthisperiod , thereisa partforstudentstosumup what the

6、fessor of physics.She was born in Poland in 1867.In 1891 she went to study in Paris University because at that time women werenot admitted to universities in Poland.When she was studying in Paris, she lived a poor life,but she worked very hard.In 1895 she married Pierre Curie,and then they worked to

7、gether on theresearch into radioactive matter.They discovered two kinds of radioactive matter polonium andradium.In 1904 she and her husband received a Nobel Prize for Physics.After Mr Curie died in1906, she went on with her research.She received a second Nobel Prize for Chemistry in 1911,so she bec

8、ame the first scientist in the world to win two Nobel Prizes.T: Excellent.Anybody else?S2: Let me try.AlbertEinsteinismy hero.Hewas born on March 14,1879 inUlm, Wurttemberg ,Germany.Einsteincontributedmore thananyotherscientistsinceSirIsaacNewtontoourunderstandingof physicalreality.Einsteinworked at

9、 the patentofficein Bern , Switzerlandfrom1902to1909.Duringthisperiodhe completedan astonishingrangeoftheoreticalphysicspublications, written in his spare time, without the benefit of close contact with scientificliteratureor colleagues.Themost wellknown of these works isEinstein s 1905 paper propos

10、ing“ the special theory of relativity.” Later in 1905 Einstein showed how mass and energy wereequivalentexpressingitin thefamous equation2equationbecame a cornerstone inthe: E=mc.Thisdevelopmentof nuclearenergy.EinsteinreceivedtheNobelPrizein1921 but not for relativity,rather for his 1905 work on th
