2、ction1.1 research motiveswith the development of chinas reform and opening up, china associates more and more with the world. therefore the importance of proper pronunciation and intonation is becoming more and more important. however, there exist a lot of problems in pronunciation teaching, such as
3、 pronouncing, link stress, and intonation. besides, most of teachers and students lack of the awareness and methods of improving their pronunciation and intonation, which results many problems in pronunciation teaching. so it is urgent to change the situation and find better ways to improve pronunci
4、ation teaching.1.2 literature reviewin order to have a reasonable analysis about the issues discussed, the thesis first do a study on what has been researched in this area over the past 20 years. there are many relevant studies of foreign scholars. these books and articles explore english pronunciat
5、ion, and they are helpful to a detailed analysis on obstacles and countermeasures of english pronunciation teaching in primary school.in the 1970s, the phonics teaching was influenced by the communicative teaching approach, and began to focus on the cultivation of communication ability. the communic
6、ative teaching approach views that the prior purpose of language is communication. celce murciapronunciation teaching is the most authorized one. in pronunciation teaching written by celce murcia, he argues that in certain situation and time, the pronunciation that could be understood by the listene
7、rs means the understanding of phonics. since then, people gradually realize that the final purpose of phonics teaching is to achieve the free communication. in the process of english teaching, except doing phonics exercise, the teachers should also guide students to do language communication activit
8、ies according to their prior pronunciation knowledge.as for the factors in pronunciation teaching, in the article “the influence of mother language on second language acquisition, allan james points out that the influences of native language structure on second language structure is mainly reflected
9、 in the pronunciation, because to learn a new pronunciation system means learning new pronunciation and listening modes which are physical aspects of language behaviors. in comparison with cognition aspects in the language behaviors, pronunciation and listening modes refuse to make changes and adjus
10、tment.in the article "factors in second language pronunciation acquisition", smit, dalton puffer thinks that while the learners are in the second language pronunciation acquisition process, they are limited by their mother language systems and the influences from personal or social factors
11、. prior factor for pronunciation study is the attitude and motivation. learners are influenced by the self-confidence and learning interests and targets. their attitudes towards pronunciation study are different accordingly. learners5 attitudes towards english pronunciation have positive correlation
12、 with their inner motivation and self-confidence degree, while have negative relation with anxiety degree.in the research of “on age factor in pronunciation study",asher garcia explores the optimal age in pronunciation study, according to the early key period assumption. second language acquisi
13、tion has its key period, and once this period is passed, the learners would not acquire native target language pronunciation any more. this article also finds that the pronunciation ability of the learners and the age of learners are related negatively.at home, in "english pronunciation teachin
14、g and its teaching reform ideologies二 yang bing points out that most chinese students fail to completely and accurately master basic english pronunciation. they lack of rhythm and pronunciation changes, and they also lack of english pronunciation knowledge.in "china's english pronunciation
15、teaching situation and strategies", li zhang mentions that the chinese students9 english pronunciation exercise time is limited, and english teachers spend most time on exercises of grammar, vocabulary and reading, which are related to english exams, and they seldom concern for the pronunciatio
16、n. in "primary school english pronunciation teaching empirical study二 zheng hua argues that in the primary school stage, even though the teachers carry out pronunciation teaching, they generally focus on single pronunciation and word teaching, and seldom explain pronunciation knowledge to their
17、 students systematically. the primary school english teachers pay little attention to the attitudes and motivations of students' pronunciation study, as a result, students imitate with passiveness and negativeness in pronunciation study, and thus could not enthusiastically learn pronunciation.in
18、 “ investigation and thoughts on gansu national regional primary school english teaching; ma zhongrong argues that the main problem in rural primary school english teaching is short of english teachers. in “on problems and strategies for rural primary school english teaching”,lv jicr argues that man
19、y rural english teachers have no professional training. their pronunciation levels are fairly limited, which results student's poor pronunciation. besides, due to the rigid pronunciation teaching methods and the shortage of pronunciation teaching equipment, the pronunciation teaching in primary
20、school faces a lot of difficulties.all in all, the scholars both in china and english-speaking countries devote themselves a lot to the studies about phonetics and phonetics teaching, but there are still limitations in the previous studies. to improve this, more holistic and systematic studies of ph
21、onetics teaching are really needed.l3 existing problemsat present, most of the studies focus on listening, reading and writing teaching, few of them on the obstacles of english pronunciation teaching. accordingly, it is essential to do some deep researches on obstacles and countermeasures of english
22、 pronunciation teaching in primary school. this thesis will focuses on obstacles and countermeasures of english pronunciation teaching in primary schooll4 research focuseson the bases of reading a lots of literatures and researching predecessor9 thesis, this thesis will explore the obstacles and cou
23、ntermeasures of english pronunciation in primary school it will be divided into three aspects. chapter one analyzes the status quo and causes of primary school english pronunciation teaching. chapter two mainly introduces the methods to eliminate the obstacles of english pronunciation teaching.chapt
