10、ight be a different than in other classes you have experienced your success will be directly related to how much time and effort you put into the course, and your willingness to try new things.you are expected to take responsibility for your own learning and be willing to walk through new ideas; to
11、work with your classmates and the instructor to create a positive learning environment; to study assigned readings prior to each class session;to participate in class discussions and learning opportunities; and to complete all assignments on time and with the highest quality possible. the role of th
12、e instructor is to act as a mentor of your learning and to guide students through experiences that allow you to complete assignments of the course. realizing that learning anything new can be stressful, the instructor will try to minimize this kind of stress as much as possible. in order to provide
13、an appropriate balance between teacher-guided and self-directed learning, the instructor will typically introduce new literatures and assignments by providing exercises that allow students to become proficient with the ideas, offering coaching support and facilitation when needed, and providing disc

17、ngs each week will include a case and articles from academic journals and books that present different theoretical lenses through which to view instructional strategies and methods. printed as well as web-based reading materials will be distributed in class and/or announced on class web. students sh
18、ould actively search and select appropriate literature for their assignments.今top of pagecourse outline details schedule will be provided in class and posted via the class website shortly after the start of spring 2002 semester. tentative course outline are: teacher-center teaching methods learner-c
19、enter learning strategy technology-supported instruction and learning9 top of pagerequirements (暫定) the course requirements consist of two assignments: individual as well as teambased written assignments and one midterm exam.individual & group written assignments students will be asked to write:
20、 an analytic memo, 3-5 pages in length, for one of the teaching strategies/methods presented in class and one team-based presentation with 57 page-memo. details to be announced work should be submitted in hard copy and word processor files (doc) all assignments must be double-spaced with 12-point fo
21、nt and adhere to the format prescribed by the american psychological association (apa,5th ed.; /). this includes a table of contents and a references list. also, proper literature citation in the body of the text should conform to apa format. instructions for completing the ass
22、ignments will be provided in class and posted via the class website. assignments must be submitted according to the due dates on the class website. late assignments must be pre-approved by the professor and will likely result in point reduction. the late policy is as follows: (i) late work will be a
23、ccepted, but only 讦 arrangements are made with the professor in advance(ii) unauthorized late assignments earn 0 point. for work 1 -3 days late, there will be a 20% penalty, (iii) for work 4-6 days late, there will be a 40% penalty, (iv) work later than 6 days will not be accepted.9 tod of page midt
24、erm examination students will take a midterm examination designed to measure understanding of the concepts and applicability of the course material. the exam will be distributed in class. a make-up exam will not be availableactive participation in class discussions each week students will be called
25、upon to respond to the assigned readings and cases, posing questions and reflections for the class to discuss.9 top of pagegrading criteriastudent grades will be determined based on the following:individual analytic memo30%group analytic presentation40%midterm exam30%9 top of pagegrading scale94-100
26、% =aextraordinarily high achievement and professional quality; unusually complete command of course content; represents an exceptionally high degree of originality and creativity.90-93%=a very thorough knowledge of course content; outstanding performance and professional work.87 89%=b+83 -86%=b80 -
27、82% =b-77-79% =c+very good achievement; thorough command of course material.good achievement; solid, acceptable performance.fair achievement, acceptable performance.not wholly satisfactory; marginal performance on some aspects of course requirements.73 -76%=cmarginal achievement; minimally acceptabl
28、e performance on course assignments.70 72% =c-unsatisfactory achievement, inadequate knowledge of course content.60 - 69% =dunacceptable achievement, substantially below acceptable standards.below 60% =fcompletely unacceptable; little or no command of course content.class attendance since this is a
29、reflective discussion oriented course, attendance and punctuality are extremely important. attendance will be noted each class session. if missing class is unavoidable, contact the instructor in advance by in-person phone call or fax explanation. you forfeit 20 points of your final course grade for
30、each unexcused absence. a lateness will cost you lopoints. excessive absence and tardiness may result in failure score of the course.academic integrity and student original workeach student is responsible for maintaining academic integrity and intellectual honesty in his or her academic work it is t
31、he policy of the school that each student be academically honest, which means that each student must: subm让 his or her own work, not that of another person not falsify data not engage in cheating (giving or receiving help during examinations, acquiring and/or transmitting test questions prior to an
32、in-class examination, or falsifying any records, including admissions material) not receive nor give aid on assigned work that requires independent effort properly credit the words or ideas of others according to accepted standards for professional publications (see, for example, the publication manual of the american psychological association.) not use term paper writing services or consult such servi
