the
classroom—to

SyracuseUniversity’s

Fast
Forward
Syracuse,
a
roadmap
for
the
future
anda
guide
to
helpensure
the
successof
Syracuse
Universityin
the
context
of
a
changingand
challenginghigher
educationenvironment,
has
threemajor
components,
developed
concurrently:the
AcademicStrategic
Plan,
the
Campus
Framework,
andtheOperational
ExcellenceProgram.
The
Campus
Framework
isintended
to
guide
the
future
of
the
physicalcampus,
and
provides
a
structure
for
rejuvenation,
ensuringthat
eachbuilding
and
open
spacereinforceslearning,
socialdevelopment,
andvibrancy.An
Advisory
Group
provideddirection
to
the
Campus
Framework
consultantsthroughoutthe
planningprocess.The
scopeof
work
consistedof
threedistinctstages:Analysis,
Scenarios,
and
ImplementationStrategies.Duringthe
Analysis
stage,
the
consultant
teamestablisheda
dialogue
with
University
stakeholders
andreviewed
existing
background
information
aboutthecampus
and
itssurroundingcontext.
The
consultant
teamalso
soughtinputfrom
membersof
thecampus
community
through
online
surveys,including
the
MyCampussurvey,
whichhadmorethan3,000
participants.
DuringtheScenarios
stage,
the
consultant
team
refined
theguiding
planningand
design
principles
anddeveloped
a
rangeof
strategiesto
addressthe
studentexperience,residential
life,
academic
and
research
environments,
mobility,
and
campuscharacter.
Finally,
duringtheImplementationStrategiesstage,
the
teamestablisheda
roadmap
to
achieve
the
goals
set
forthin
the
CampusFramework.TheFramework
was
guidedby
the
University
mission
andthe
themesin
the
AcademicStrategicPlan:
