lityisanecessaryfiction.Althoughsocitiesmustholdtheirindividualsaccountablefortheirownactions,people'sbehaviorislargelydeterminedbyforcesnotoftheirownmaking."Inthetitlestatement,thespeakerholdsthecontentionthattheconceptof'individualresponsibility'isnoexistencebutafiction.Moreover,thespeakersaysthatthebehaviorsofhumanbeingsarefundamentallydeterminedbytheenvironmentwhichoutoftheircontrol.Admittedly,one'sactionsaredeeplyinfluencedbylaws,societies,schoolsandfamiliesandotherexteriorforces;individualresponsibilityexistsandfunctionsasasignificantroletorulepeople'sbehaviorsaswell.Ononehand,thehighestsocialanimalashumanbeingis,anyindividualhashisspecificroleinacertainsociety.Andthisspecificrolegivesonesocialidentityandindividualresponsibilitythrougheducationinschoolsandinfluenceofethicalandmoralstandards.Thoughsometimesonewouldfeelthatthecertainresponsibilityisobligationfromthesocietyandorganizationsratherthanhis'individualresponsibility*atfirst,inmostcases,theaccountabilitywouldpresumablybecomeone'sowneventuallyfollowedbythefinalidentificationofhisspecificsocialidentity,andthendirectone'sbehaviorswithouttheforcefromtheexteriorworld.Forexample,asoldierwouldthinkitishisdutytoobeytheruleswithoutanyhesitation;asurgeonwouldconsiderhealingthepatientsashisaccountability;andahistorianwouldfeelitishisresponsibilitytodiscoverwhatisbehindthehistoricaldescriptions.Infact,differentcareersandrolesformdiverseindividualresponsibilities,whichresultinindividuals’voluntarybehaviors.Ontheotherhand,therearenotonlyspecificindividualresponsibilitiesindiverseareasbutalsosomefundamentalvaluesandaccountabilities,whichweallhumanbeingscherish.Fromthemomentonecanspeakorevenisborn,thesocietybeginstoinstillthemoralandethicalstandards,whichissocalledhumanityineveryone'smind.Theolderoneis,thedeeperinfluencethehumanitywouldbe.Whenoneisjustalittlechild,hewouldgodirectlytowhathelikeandclaimitThenwhenheisoldenough,hewouldrealizethatitisincorrectandashamed.Andbecauseoftheawarenessofwhatisrightandwrong,onewouldprobablyneverdoanymisdeedagain.Actually,humanityisjustthecommonindividualresponsibilitysharedbyallofus.However;everyonelivesinacertainsocietytherebyone'sbehaviorismoreorlessinfluencedbyforcesnotoftheirownmaking.Andtooperatenormally,everysocietyhasitslaws,thoughmanytimeshavedifferencesamongthem.Itistruethathumanityplaysanessentialroleinrulingindividuals1behaviors;yetlawsarenecessary.Underthecontroloflaws,peoplewhohavelittleindividualresponsibilitywouldprobablynotdaretodoanycrimeinfearoflawpunishment.Besideslaws,forexampleinschool,rulesarealsoanimportantfactoraswellasindividualresponsibility.Nowadays,inmostuniversities,astudentwhodoesnotpasssomece
