瓦尔登湖读后感英文版瓦尔登湖读后感英文版HenryDavidThoreau(1817-1862),theauthorofWalden,wasborninConcord,Massachusetts.Whenhewasachild,healwayswenttothewoodsandfieldwithhisoldbrother.Sohelovesthenatureverymuch.Inthemiddleof19thcentury,Americaneconomiesdevelopedsorapidlythatmostpeoplepursuitthemateriallifeandignorethespirituallife.ButThoreauwantstoliveasimplelife.AlsofortheTranscendentalistMovementwascenteredinConcordandEmersonhadagreatinfluenceonhim.AllthesemadeThoreaugotobuildacabinontheshoreofWaldenPondandlivealonetoclosetothenaturein1845.Later,hewrotethefamousbook,Walden,whichmainlytalksabouthislifeandthoughtsduringhelivedaloneinthewoodsnearWaldenPond.WhenWaldenwaspublishedin1854,itwasnotwellacceptedbypeople.Insteaditwasregardedas"wickedandheathenish".ItwaspublishedonlyonetimeuntilThoreaudiedofdisease.Butmanyyearslaterespeciallyintwentiethcentury,itwasgraduallyknownandappreciatedbylotsofreadersallovertheworld.ThisisabookwhichtellsinspringThoreaustartsbuildingacabininthewoods,thinkingaboutlife,readingsomebooks,andlisteningtothesoundofnature.Inautumn,hecultivatesbeans,observesWaldenPond.Inwinter,theWaldenPondfreeze,lotsofanimalsaccompanieswithhim.As?spring'scoming,theWalden?andotherpondsmelt.EverythinginnatureisawakeandrebornincludingThoreau.Aftertwoyears,?Thoreauleaves.Thoreaufirstwritesthatmostpeoplepursuittheirnecessarythingsoflifesuchasfashionableclothes,housesandequipmentTheypursuitthesethingswhileThoreaugotothewoodstobuildingacabinwhichonlycosts$28.12,eatingsimplefoodand?needinglittlefurniture.So?oneofchaptersinhisbook,〃HigherLaw",emphasizesmoreonthespiritualaspectinsteadofthesatisfactionofmaterial.Furthermore;heurgespeopletoreadmoreclassicliteraturesuchasHomer’sIliadandOdysseyand?othergreatwriters’masterpiece.Healsowritesthatthoughhe?livesaloneinthewoods,heiscloseto?natureandmakeshimselfasapartofnature.He?livesalone,butsometimeshealso?talkswithhisvisitorswhoarehonest,sincere,thinkableandlovingtheirlife.Thoreaualsomentionsthatthenoise?inthetownandthewhistleoftraindisturbthequitelifeofthetown.However,inthewoods?lifeisquite.When?he?livesinthewoods,hecanlistentoanimals*soundssuchasbird'ssinging,owl8irsquo;shooting,cockerel’scrowingetc.He?liveswithanimalsfriendly.Healsodescribesthe?WaldenPond.Thewater,blueandgreen,clearandpure,freezesinwinterandmeltsinspring.WhenIwasreadingWalden?!feltthat?Iwaslisteningtoawiseman’stalking.Thewordsandphrasesaboutthenature?especiallytheWaldenPondarebeautifuland?fascinating.Thesentencesarefullofwisdomandphilosophy.Readingthis?bookremindsmeofthosepeoplewhoworkhardtoearnmoney,wastelots?ofmoneytobuyluxuryandexpensivethings,wastetimetoentertainthemselves.Inmy?point?ofview,theymayeasilylosethemselves,andthoughtheirbodiesarefull,theirmindsarehungry.Thereallifeisto?makeevery?complicatethingto?besimpleand?enrichourheart?andsoul.Inaword,justsimplicity、simplicityandsimplicity!Oneof?Thoreau,sthoughtsaboutsolitudeattractsmedeeplyforI’mthepersonwholikestobealone.TherearesomereasonsforwhyIliketobealone:FirstlyIthinkthatlivingwithothersis?easygoingtohaveaconflictwhatever?you?arebestfriends.SecondlyjustasThoreau?saying‘amanthinkingorworkingalwaysaloneandlethimbewherehewill’。I?alwaysspentmostoftimetostudy,andIliketomakemyselfbusyallthetime,soIhavelittletimetostaywithothers.Inadditionto,whatFm?thinkingandinterestedinisquitedifferentfromothers.Ilikestudyingatlibraryandreadingbooksbutdon'tlikepursuitfashionableandnewtrendthingsforitmakesmefeeltiredandbored.SoIalwayslivealoneandpeoplewhoaroundmethinkImustbelonely.Actuallyit'snottrue.Theydon'tunderstandmeatalLWhenI'mstudying,learningorreading,Idon'tthinkotherthings,justimmersingintheoceanofknowledge.Myheartisquitecalm.AndiflearnnewknowledgeIgotafeelingofhappiness,satisfactionandfulfillment.SoIwassosurprisedthatwhatThoreausaidwasexactlysametowhatIthoughtIwassogladtofindapersonwhohasthesameideawithme.WhenThoreaulivedaloneinthewoods,peopledidnotunderstandhim,evenEmersonthoughtwhathedidwaswrong.Andnow,peoplewhoaroundmethinkmylifeisnotgood.ButIthinkThoreau’slifewassuccessful,meaningfulandhappy,sodoLBecauseIthinkthatthesuccessandhappinessoflifeallcomefromexactlyvalue.Everyonedeeplydesiresofthemselveslife.Whenyouknowwhatthevalueofyourselfis,meanwhileyoucanenjoyyourlifeaccordingtothevalueeverytime.Youwillfindthateverydayyouhavefullofenergyandenthusiasmtodoanything,hearthesuresoundfromyourheart,andoftenfeelintenseachievement,themostimportantisthatyourheartispeaceandcalm.Lastbutnotleast,IenvyThoreausomuchforhelivesinsuchabeautifulandcomfortablenatureenvironment.Hecanbreathethefreshair,livewithwildanimalfriendly;appreciatethesceneryofWaldenPondetc.Whileinmodernsociety,peoplepursuittheirownintereststohuntandkillanimals,cutdowntreesandpollutetheriversandsoon.Asaresult,thenumberofwildlifeisdecreasing,theareaoflakeisshrinking,andthewaterisnotpureanymore.Theenvironmentproblemssuchasglobewarming,climatechangeandairandwaterpollutionhavebeenbecomingincreasinglyserious.Readingthisbookmakesmebeawareofprotectingtheenvironmenttorealizetheharmonybetweenhumanandnature.Theconceptofresponsibilityisanecessaryfiction.Althoughsocitiesmustholdtheirindividualsaccountablefortheirownactions,people'sbehaviorislargelydeterminedbyforcesnotoftheirownmaking."Inthetitlestatement,thespeakerholdsthecontentionthattheconceptof'individualresponsibility'isnoexistencebutafiction.Moreover,thespeakersaysthatthebehaviorsofhumanbeingsarefundamentallydeterminedbytheenvironmentwhichoutoftheircontrol.Admittedly,one'sactionsaredeeplyinfluencedbylaws,societies,schoolsandfamiliesandotherexteriorforces;individualresponsibilityexistsandfunctionsasasignificantroletorulepeople'sbehaviorsaswell.Ononehand,thehighestsocialanimalashumanbeingis,anyindividualhashisspecificroleinacertainsociety.Andthisspecificrolegivesonesocialidentityandindividualresponsibilitythrougheducationinschoolsandinfluenceofethicalandmoralstandards.Thoughsometimesonewouldfeelthatthecertainresponsibilityisobligationfromthesocietyandorganizationsratherthanhis'individualresponsibility*atfirst,inmostcases,theaccountabilitywouldpresumablybecomeone'sowneventuallyfollowedbythefinalidentificationofhisspecificsocialidentity,andthendirectone'sbehaviorswithouttheforcefromtheexteriorworld.Forexample,asoldierwouldthinkitishisdutytoobeytheruleswithoutanyhesitation;asurgeonwouldconsiderhealingthepatientsashisaccountability;andahistorianwouldfeelitishisresponsibilitytodiscoverwhatisbehindthehistoricaldescriptions.Infact,differentcareersandrolesformdiverseindividualresponsibilities,whichresultinindividuals’voluntarybehaviors.Ontheotherhand,therearenotonlyspecificindividualresponsibilitiesindiverseareasbutalsosomefundamentalvaluesandaccountabilities,whichweallhumanbeingscherish.Fromthemomentonecanspeakorevenisborn,thesocietybeginstoinstillthemoralandethicalstandards,whichissocalledhumanityineveryone'smind.Theolderoneis,thedeeperinfluencethehumanitywouldbe.Whenoneisjustalittlechild,hewouldgodirectlytowhathelikeandclaimitThenwhenheisoldenough,hewouldrealizethatitisincorrectandashamed.Andbecauseoftheawarenessofwhatisrightandwrong,onewouldprobablyneverdoanymisdeedagain.Actually,humanityisjustthecommonindividualresponsibilitysharedbyallofus.However;everyonelivesinacertainsocietytherebyone'sbehaviorismoreorlessinfluencedbyforcesnotoftheirownmaking.Andtooperatenormally,everysocietyhasitslaws,thoughmanytimeshavedifferencesamongthem.Itistruethathumanityplaysanessentialroleinrulingindividuals1behaviors;yetlawsarenecessary.Underthecontroloflaws,peoplewhohavelittleindividualresponsibilitywouldprobablynotdaretodoanycrimeinfearoflawpunishment.Besideslaws,forexampleinschool,rulesarealsoanimportantfactoraswellasindividualresponsibility.Nowadays,inmostuniversities,astudentwhodoesnotpasssomece
