Skyworks和EmberZigBee前端模块参考设计Ember公司的EM250是单片ZigBee解决方案,集成了2.4GHz,IEEE802.15.4兼容的收发器以及16位XAP2b微处理器,128KB闪存和5KBSRAM存储器与基于ZigBee应用的外设.收发器允许和IEEE802.11g与蓝牙共存,接收灵敏度为-99dBm,输出功率为+3dBm,主要用于建筑物自动化和控制,家庭自动化控制,家庭娱乐控制以及财产跟踪等.本文介绍了EM250的主要特性,方框图和应用电路图与所用材料清单.此外还介绍了采用EM250和Skyworks公司的SKY65335和SKY65337的ZigBee前端模块参考设计的电路图和材料清单(BOM).

TheEM250isasingle-chipsolutionthatintegratesa2.4GHz,IEEE802.15.4-complianttransceiverwitha16-bitXAP2bmicroprocessor.ItcontainsintegratedFlashandRAMmemoryandperipheralsofusetodesignersofZigBee-basedapplications.

ThetransceiverutilizesanefficientarchitecturethatexceedsthedynamicrangerequirementsimposedbytheIEEE802.15.4-2003standardbyover15dB.Theintegratedreceivechannelfilteringallowsforco-existencewithothercommunicationstandardsinthe2.4GHzspectrumsuchasIEEE802.11gandBluetooth.Theintegratedregulator,VCO,loopfilter,andpoweramplifierkeeptheexternalcomponentcountlow.Anoptional

highperformanceradiomode(boostmode)issoftwareselectabletoboostdynamicrangebyafurther3dB.

TheXAP2bmicroprocessorisapower-optimizedcoreintegratedintheEM250.Itsupportstwodifferentmodesofoperation—SystemModeandApplicationMode.TheEmberZNetstackrunsinSystemModewithfullaccesstoallareasofthechip.ApplicationcoderunsinApplicationModewithlimitedaccesstotheEM250resources;thisallowsfortheschedulingofeventsbytheapplicationdeveloperwhilepreventingmodificationofrestrictedareasofmemoryandregisters.Thisarchitectureresultsinincreasedstabilityandreliabilityofdeployedsolutions.

TheEM250has128kBofembeddedFlashmemoryand5kBofintegratedRAMfordataandprogramstorage.

TheEM250softwarestackemploysaneffectivewear-levelingalgorithminordertooptimizethelifetimeoftheembeddedFlash.

TomaintainthestricttimingrequirementsimposedbyZigBeeandtheIEEE802.15.4-2003standard,theEM250integratesanumberofMACfunctionsintothehardware.TheMAChardwarehandlesautomaticACKtransmissionandreception,automaticbackoffdelay,andclearchannelassessmentfortransmission,aswellasautomaticfilteringofreceivedpackets.Inaddition,theEM250allowsfortrueMACleveldebuggingbyintegratingthePacketTraceInterface.

Tosupportuser-definedapplications,anumberofperipheralssuchasGPIO,UART,SPI,I2C,ADC,andgeneralpurposetimersareintegrated.Also,anintegratedvoltageregulator,power-on-resetcircuitry,sleeptimer,andlow-powersleepmodesareavailable.Thedeepsleepmodedrawslessthan1μA,allowingproductstoachievelongbatterylife.

Finally,theEM250utilizesthenon-intrusiveSIFmoduleforpowerfulsoftwaredebuggingandprogrammingoftheXAP2bmicrocontroller.
