3.2Class
Water-dispersedsyntheticpolymersthatyieldatouch-drylubricantfilm/lubricantlayerafterappli-cationanddryinganddonotcontainhazardoussubstances.Thecoatingagentmustbesilicone-free.
3.3Requirementsforthelubricantapplicationprocess
Itmustbeensuredthatnoresiduesofchromicacid,chromicsolutions,orotheracidresiduescanenterintothelubricantcoatingbath.
Inordertoavoidtheriskofcondensation,thepartsmustbepackageddryandonlyafterreachingambient(room)temperature.
Checktheefficiencyofthelubricantcoatingwithrespecttothecoefficientsoffrictionofthethrea-dedelementsincoordinationwiththereceivingplant.
NOTE:Ifthreadedfastenersthathavealreadybeencoatedwithlubricantarecoatedonceagain,thiscanyielddifferentcoefficientsoffrictionthanforthefirstcoating.
3.4Notesonthelubricantapplicationprocess
Thechosenprocessmustguaranteereliableandevenwettingofthesurfacewithlubricant.Priortoapplicationofthelubricant,thepartstobecoatedmustbedryandslightlyheated(objecttemper-atureapprox.40°Cto50°C,notexceeding75°C).Thetemperatureofthecoatingagentmustnotfallbelow20°Cduringcoating(optimum:25°Cto35°C,notexceeding45°C).
Thecoatingagentisusuallysuppliedasaconcentrate.Themixingratioofcoatingagentconcen-trateand,preferably,demineralizedwatermustbechoseninsuchawayastoachieveandmain-tainthedesiredcoefficientsoffrictionovertheoveralllayerstructure.
Thebathconcentrationmustbecheckedbydeterminingthedryresidueorusingarefractometer,anddocumented.
Thebath(pHvalue)mustbecheckedbasedonthespecificationsofthecoatingagentmanufactur-er(frequency:atleastoncepershift/day,takingintoaccountthespecifiedlimits).
Coatedthreadedpartsarepreferablydriedinatunnel-typesystem,butacentrifugalsystemisalsopossible.Dryingmustbeperformedataspeedsuitedtothepartsspectrumandwiththe

applicationofheat.Theprecisesettingparameters(rotationalspeed,temperature,fillingquantity)mustbedeterminedanddocumentedbythecoatingcompanyincollaborationwiththecoating
agentmanufacturer.Themaximumpermissibletemperatureforthecoatingsystemmustbeob-served,e.g.,max.90°CforCr(VI)-freepassivationtreatments.
3.5Re-lubrication
Thereasonforre-lubricationmaybethreadedfastenersthatcannotbe(reliably)coated.Rework-ingofimproperlylubricatedpartsthatdonotachievetherequiredcoefficientsoffrictionasper

fortherespectiveusecaseispermissiblewithareleasebasedontherespectiveusecase(deviationpermit).
Thepartstobecoatedmustbefreeofoilandgrease,andthesolventmustbeevaporatedbeforefurtherprocessing.Cleanliness,avoidanceofcontaminants,uniformwetting,andeffectivenessofthelubricantcoatingmustalsobeobserved.Theprocessesofpre-heatinganddryingareomittedinthisprocedure.
Thereleasebasedontherespectiveusecaseismandatorybecausethecommonlyusedre-lubri-cationsolutions(sprays)maycontainhazardoussubstances(propellants)aswellassubstancesimpairingpaintwettingability.TherespectivesafetydatasheetbytheEuropeanCommunitymustbeconsidered.
