1Scope

Thisstandardspecifiesthepropertiesofclinchstudsmadeofsteelwithpropertyclasses8.8and10.9,inproductgradeA,andwithmetricISOstandardthreadsofM5toM12.

Clinchstudscanbedesignedeitherwitharaisedengagementfeature(alsoreferredtoasa"rib"below)(typeA)orarecessedengagementfeature(typeB)beneaththehead.

Dependingonthesteelandaluminumsheetsused,thesheetmetalthicknessrangeisbetween0,75mmand2,5mmforclinchstudsoftypeA,andbetween1,0mmand7,0mmforclinchstudsoftypeB.

Thisstandardspecifiestherequirementsforthedesignofthejointanddescribestheprocessse-quenceforsettingclinchstuds,wherebytheclinchstudandthesettingtoolshouldconstituteamu-tuallyfine-tunedsystem.

3.Theclinchingstrokeistriggered.Therequiredpunchforceisrecordedintherespectiveac-ceptancereportonaproject-specificbasis.Therequiredretainingforceresultsfromthemaxi-mumpermissiblepartdeformation.

4.Whenthepinisextracted,theminimumtravelmustbetakenintoaccount.Theminimumtravelcorrespondstothestudlength.
