TheCompleteACPowerTestSolution
KeysightTechnologies,Inc.,ACpowersource/analyzersprovideacompleteACtestsolution.AsACsources,theycombinethecapabilitiesofapoweramplifierandanarbitrarywaveformgenerator.Thisallowsyoutosimulatenormalwaveformsandmanytypesofdistortedpowerwaveforms.Thebuiltinpoweranalyzercombinesthecapabilitiesofamultimeter,oscilloscope,harmonicanalyzerandpoweranalyzer.TheseinstrumentsmayalsobeusedtoproduceDCpower,eitheraloneorasaDCoffsettoanACwaveform.
SinceyourproductwillhavetooperateintherealworldofunpredictableACpower,youneedtodesignandverifyitscorrectoperationunderawiderangeofACpowerinputs.Brownouts,dropouts,sags,andotherirregularitiesarenotunusualinmanycommunitiestoday.KeysightACpowersource/analyzershavethefeaturesneededtoeasilyaccomplishthistestgoaleitherinanR&Denvironmentoronthemanufacturingtestfloor.Ifyouplantosellyourproductsinaworldwidemarket,youwillalsoneedtotestthematthelinevoltagesandfrequenciesforwhichtheywilleventuallyoperate.Thereisalsoadditionaltestingneededtomeetregulatoryrequirementsforsaleintosomecountries.
KeysightACpowersource/analyzersofferacompletesolutionforACpowertesting,helpingyoutosimplifythisimportanttask.Theseinstrumentscombinethefeaturesofapoweramplifierandarbitrarywaveformgeneratortogiveyoutheabilitytodoalloftheteststhatyouneed.Therearemanystandardpreprogrammedwaveforms,oryoucanusethetransientgenerationsystemtosimulatesophisticatedandrepeatableAClinedisturbances.DCpowercanalsobegenerated,eitherasaDCoffsetorasapureDCsignal.
PowerfulBuilt-inMeasurementCapabilities
KeysightACpowersource/analyzershaveextensive16-bitprecisionmeasurementcapabilitieswhichwouldnormallyrequireanumberofcomplexmeasurementinstruments,includingaDMM(digitalmultimeter),oscillo-scope,poweranalyzer,andharmonicanalyzer.Theprecisionmeasurementsinclude:
rms,DC,AC+DCvoltageandcurrent
Peakvoltageandcurrent
Real,apparent,andreactivepower
Harmonicanalysisofvoltageandcurrentwaveformsprovidingamplitudeandphaseuptothe50thharmonic
THD(totalharmonicdistortion)

UsingthemeasurementcapabilitiesofaKeysightACpowersource/analyzersimplifiesyourtestsetupsandhelpsyouobtainaccuratedataquickly.
DualpoweranalyzerOption020
Thepowerfulbuilt-inpowermeter/analyzerinKeysightACpowersource/analyzersprovideseverythingthatyouneedtomakeACmeasurementsattheACinputtoyourDUT.Formanytestscenarios,thisistheextentoftheACanalysisrequired.
Sometestscenarios,however,requireACmeasurementstobemadeatboththeACinputandtheACoutputoftheDUT.Option020providesanadditionalpoweranalyzer,completewithaprecisioncurrentshunt,whichcanbeconnectedanywhereyouneedit.ThissecondanalyzercanevenbeusedfortestswheretheACpowersource/analyzerisnotprovidingpower,thusexpandingtheusefulnessofthisinstrumenttomanymoretestconfigurations.Theadditionalanalyzerisequivalentinspecificationsandcapabilitiestothestandardanalyzer.
Usingthedualpoweranalyzeroptioninsteadofanadditionalpoweranalyzerinstrumentexternallyismorethanjustconvenient.Measurementsonallfourmeasurementchannels(ACsourceoutputvoltageandcurrent,anddualpoweranalyzervoltageandcurrentinputs)areinherentlysynchronizedwiththeACpowersource/analyzersoutputwaveform.Thisprecisionwouldbedifficulttoachieveusingseparatemeasurementinstruments.

Manyelectronicproductshavepower-savingorsleepmodes.Inthismode,thedevicedrawsonlyenoughpowertobeabletorecognizea“wake-up”signal,andthenexecuteasmooth“wake-up”.Thepowerdrawninthismodeisacriticalparameter,andtheabilitytoaccuratelymonitoritisimportant.Theaccessoryprecisioncurrentshuntthatissuppliedwithoption020ismountedinsuchawaytomakeiteasyforyoutoreplaceitwithaprecisionresistorofyourchoice.Bydoingthis,youcanconfigurethesystemtoaccuratelymonitorextremelylowcurrents.Thisprovidesaneasywayforyoutoprofilethecurrentdrawinallmodesofyourproduct’soperation.SinceKeysight6811B-6813BACpowersource/analyzersproduceDCpoweraswellasACpower,portablebatteryoperatedproductscanalsobetestedwiththisconfiguration.
UPS(uninterruptiblepowersource)testing
ThedualpoweranalyzeroptionprovidesmanyimportantbenefitsforUPStesting.SincethekeytocorrectUPSoperationishavingtheoutputreactproperlytochangesontheinput,beingabletomonitortheoutputrelativetotheinputsimplifiestesting.Forexample,commandsareavailabletoenablecalculationofUPStransfertime,andthephasedifferencebetweentheUPSinputandoutputvoltage.KeysightACpowersource/analyzersalsohaveprogrammableoutputimpedance,enablingtheUPSdesignertoverifyproductstabilityoverawiderangeofAClineimpedance.
Graphicaluserinterface(GUI)
Whenyouneedtorunavarietyoftests,studytheresultscarefully,andthenrunmoretestswithslightlyvariedconditions,writingcomputerprogramsusingtheextensiveSCPIcommandsetmayseemburdensome.ThisiswhenyoushoulddownloadthelatestcopyoftheKeysightACpowersource/analyzergraphicaluserinterfacefrom
TheACpowersource/analyzerGUImakesitquickandeasytosettheoutputofyourACpowersource/analyzer,beitfromastoredwaveformorwithawaveformthatyoucreateusingyourmouse.TheGUIalsoallowsyoutoseetheoutputoftheACpowersource/analyzeringraphicalform,savetheresults,ordumpthemdirectlyintoaMicrosoftExcelfile.

ThedirectExcellinkfeaturewasrecentlyaddedtomeetthecurrentneedsofR&Dengineers.Itmakesiteasytokeeptheresultsofmanytests,andmakesthemeasilyretrievable.Withit,thetestrecordsresultingfromchangingconditionscanbekeptinoneplaceandeasilycompared.
Accesstorawdataoftenhelpsinfullyunderstandingtestresults.Forexample,smalllocalpeaksmaynotbeevidentinprocesseddata.V,Iandphaseresultsfromharmonic
measurementsareparticularlysusceptibletonotshowingthecompletestoryinagraphicalrepresentation.
MicrosoftExceloffersawidevarietyofdatamanipulationandgraphicalcapabilitiesthatcanhelpanengineergainthefullestunderstandingfromthetestdata.

KeysightACpowersource/analyzersarewellsuitedfortestingequipmentintendedforuseintheavionicsindustrywhichoperateatnominally400Hz.OneofthespecialrequirementsthatmanymanufacturersinthisindustrymustconcernthemselveswithistestingtomeetRTCADO-160standards.
ThesestandardsinvolvebothACandDCimmunitytests.TheACpowersource/analyzerGUIincludesasectiondevotedtothesetests.Byusingthistool,youcanquicklystepthroughtherequiredset-upswithconfidence.
Extensiveprotectiontopreventloaddamage
Inadditiontoovercurrent,overvoltage,overpowerandovertemperatureprotection,the6800seriesoffersoutputdisconnectrelaysandremoteinhibitcapability(quicklydisablingtheoutputoftheACpowersource/analyzersviaaTTLsignal)toprotectthedeviceundertest.
