1、Bill Gates, the head of the worlds biggest computer software company Microsoft and one of the worlds wealthiest men, was born on October 28, 1955. 3、ry home. He has had this mission since he was a university student nineteen years ago. Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft in the 1970s, though Allen left the company in 1983. Gates oversaw the invention and marketing of the MS-DOS operating system, the Windows operating interface, the Internet E
4、xplorer browser, and a multitude of other popular computer products. During the 1990s rising Microsoft stock prices made Gates the worlds wealthiest man; his wealth has at times exceeded $75 billion, and employs more than 55,000 people in 85 countries and regions, making Gates a popular symbol of th
5、e ascendant computer geek of the late 20th century. Although he is so rich, Bill Gates never gives up. He is still very interested in his vision and he travels the globe, from Beijing to London, marking quick stops in cities to sell the new software products of his company. And now, Bill Gates compa

12、June 15, 2006, Microsoft announced that effective July 2008 Gates will transition out of a day-to-day role in the company to spend more time on his global health and education work at the Bill more than $2 billion to improve learning opportunities, including the Gates Library Initiative to bring com
13、puters, Internet Access and training to public libraries in low-income communities in the United States and Canada; more than $477 million to community projects in the Pacific Northwest; and more than $488 million to special projects and annual giving campaigns. Gates was married on Jan. 1, 1994, to

The son of a lawyer and a schoolteacher, Gates attended a public grade school and then the Lakeside School, a private college preparatory institution. It was at Lakeside that he f
16、irst became interested in the relatively new field of computer programming, met his friend and future business partner Paul Allen, and developed his first computer software program at the age of 13.,In 1968 the Lakeside School was still purchasing computer time on a machine owned by General Electric
17、, as computers were extremely expensive in the late 1960s. Gates and his friends from Lakeside became fascinated with the machines and formed the Lakeside Programmers Group to try to make money in the computer field. The Programmers Group primarily earned its founders free computing time on machines
18、 owned by a company in Seattle. Gates and Allen then formed a company that they called Traf-O-Data. They put together a small computer for measuring traffic flow and made about $20,000. The company remained in business until Gates and Allen graduated from high school. Although Gates was interested i
19、n computers, he enrolled at Harvard University with the intention of becoming a lawyer like his father. By the time he was a sophomore in 1975, however, Gates was more interested in computers and electronics than in his pre-law studies.,At the beginning, the Apple computer did not sell well because
20、seldom people knew much about it and many held a wait-and-see attitude towards it, but finally, after his great efforts in sales, the Apple computer became a best-seller.,Steve Jobs cared about details very much, and he also preferred to come up with good ideas. So sometimes he had different managem
21、ent ideas from the Board, but he was unwilling to give in to them, and he also failed to persuade the Board to accept his ideas.,In 1984, Jobs left Apple , but later he changed his mind, and he made up his mind to go back to the company. And in 1997 he regained the CEO(Chief Executive Officer) posit
22、ion, and remained until 2011. During those time, Apple launched the iMac, the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad, and it became the worlds most valuable listed company.,It was Steve Jobs who made computers personal and the Internet put in our pockets, and it was Steve Jobs who brought joy to millions of
