2019中考英语阅读理解优练(8)及答案【能力选练】 A(2019中考教育类选练)Here is a story: A man sees a butterfly(蝴蝶). The butterfly tries to get out of its chrysalis(蛹). Feeling sorry for it, the man decides to help. He cuts the chrysalis and the butterfly comes out easily. Surprisingly enough, the butterfly is unable to fly. If the butterfly doesnt struggle(挣扎;奋斗) to leave the chrysalis, it cant fly! The struggle develops the energy in the butterfly which makes it fly. Similarly, the challenges of life bring out the best in young people and make the fly. When people are young, meeting and overcoming challenges will make them strong and ready to face life. When we look at successful people, we see that the most successful of them are people who have had to struggle. One famous businessman, who now owns many big supermarkets, used to carry clothes on his back and sell them from door to door when he was young. Another successful man is Dennis. His father died when he was only twenty. His fathers death forced him to mature fast. He had to bring up a family of nine people. He took up the challenges and overcame them. Today his brothers and sisters are leading successful lives. Sometimes challenges do not appear to us because we keep away from them. So some parents and teachers actively encourage young people to face challenges. They might organize some activities for young people which provide them with challenges, like rock-climbing, camping, volunteer work and so on. However, just passing exams will not prepare a person for life. We must meet and overcome challenges. The young people of today will become the leaders of tomorrow. For countries to continue to become successful, it is important that the young people learn to meet challenges and overcome them.1. His cousin gave the same answer, so he got two gifts, too.The boat started off. The passengers began to open their gifts. Tom and his cousin did the same. They found that one of the two gifts was a small bottle of drinking water, the other was a seasick tablet(晕船药). Tom had a look at a “yes”-passengers gift. His was a nice chocolate. I also helped to clean up the tables when it was very busy. One night, just before Christmas, I found a large black wallet on the floor near one of the tables. I guessed I should check it to find out who was the owner, but I was very busy at the time. And I imagined that if there was something valuable(有价值的) in the wallet, the owner would be back. Sure enough, an hour later a man came up to the counter and asked if anyone had found a wallet. I asked him to describe the lost wallet, and after he described it exactly, I gave him the wallet. He expressed his thanks when I handed it to him. He asked me if I had opened it, and when I told him “no”. At once he opened it and showed that it had nearly $ 800 in cash(现金). He took out a twenty-dollar bill and handed it to me and I was amazed at this. “A reward(酬劳) for your honesty,” he said and then turned and walked away. Thinking about it later, I began wondering whether I would have been honest if I had known what was in the wallet! I thought that if I had no way to find the owner and no one returned to get it, I might keep it. But it also came into my mind that I actually saved someones Christmas plans by finding and returning the wallet. The good feeling it gave me was worth more than anything could buy. 根据以上短文内容,然后从每题所给的四个选项中选择最佳选项。1. Which of the following is true?A. The owner of the wallet found a twenty-dollar bill gone. B. The writer wasnt surprised when the man gave her a reward. C. Nothing in the wallet was missing. D. The man was very, very excited when he got his wallet back. 2. The writer returned the wallet to the owner because _. A. she thought Christmas was coming B. the owner came back too soonC. she didnt know there was so much money in itD. as an honest person, she didnt care much about money3. Which of the following is NOT true? A. The writer accepted a reward of $ 20. B. The writer regretted(后悔) that she had returned the wallet. C. The writer didnt return the wallet until the owner came back. D. The writer fell very happy after she returned the wallet. 【答案及解析】1. 选C。由于作者并未打开钱包,更没有从中取出什么,所以说Nothing in the wallet was missing。2. 选B。根据文章最后一段中的Thinking about it later, I began wondering whether I would have been honest if I had known what was in the wallet! I thought that if I had no way to find the owner and no one returned to get it, I might keep it可排除选项C和D。比较选项A和B,再结合文章大意,选B为佳(from )3. 选B。此题可用排除法来做:根据第1段最后两句He took out a twenty-dollar bill and handed it to me and I was amazed at this. “A reward for your honesty,” he said and then turned and walked away可知选项A与文章内容相符;选项B的意思是“作者直到失主返回来才将钱包还给他”,这显然与文章内容相符;根据第2段最后一句话The good feeling it gave me was worth more than anything could buy可知,选项D也与文章内容相符。【能力选练】 D(2019中考保健与健康类选练)A large number of people in the world eat fast foodWhenever you go into a fast food restaurant, you can see lots of people enjoying their meals thereHow do you know in which country people like fast food best? The English people are the worlds biggest fans of fast food, while the French are the least interested in quick meals, according to a survey done last yearThe survey of thirteen countries shows 45 of the English people say they cant give up fast food because its delicious. Do you often feel after a failure that you are good for nothing? Then be careful, you are one of them who have bad relationship with failure. And this is the only reason why people often keep themselves away from their success. The power of failure is that it helps us to learn fro our mistakes and missteps and we must consider a failure as an opportunity to grow rather than giving up.Lets discover the reasons why successful people believe that opportunity lies in every failure.Disappointment or failure shows that you are tryingThe best way to gauge(衡量)your progress at something is to see how many times you failed. In case you havent failed yet, chances are that you havent tried hard yet.Look at all successful men and women throughout our history, they all had one thing in common. Thats to say they failed not once but several times before they achieved success. Lets take an example of Thomas Edison: he failed a lot of times to find right filament(灯丝)for his light bulb. Henry Ford had a stronger relationship with failure, which inspired him to quote this unforgettable saying “failure is the opportunity to begin again, more intelligently.”Achievement lies in looking at failure as an opportunityJust like every successful person had one thing in common, similarly all unsuccessful persons throughout our history had one thing in common - their inability to use failure as an opportunity and a tool. If you feel your one failure is your ultimate (终极的)failure, and that feeling of sinking down is known as an ultimate failure, y
