外研版高考英语一轮复习选修73Module3知能演练(含答案)+描写老师的作文:我们的班主任老师 阅读理解A(2018成都高三诊断)Flaubert had it that “one way of tolerating existence is to lose oneself in literature as in an unending party”. It turns out that reading doesnt only help us to tolerate existence, but actually lengthens it.A recent study by Yale University researchers, published online in the journal Social Science & Medicine, concluded that “book readers experienced a 20 percent reduction in the risk of death over the 12 years of followup compared to nonreaders”The data was obtained from the study sponsored by the National Institute on Aging. The study looked at 3,635 subjects, all older than 50, whom the researchers divided into three groups:those who didnt read books, those who read up to 3.5 hours a week and those who read more than 3.5 hours a week. The findings were remarkable:on average, book readers survived almost two years longer than those who didnt crack open a book. The more the subjects read, the longer they lived, but as little as 30 minutes a day was still beneficial in terms of survival.Accounting for factors such as education level, income and health status, the study found that those who read more than 3.5 hours weekly were 23 percent less likely to die during that 12year period. Those who read up to 3.5 hoursan average of a half hour a daywere 17 percent less likely.“In other words, just like a healthy diet and exercise, books appear to promote a significant survival advantage,” the authors concluded. Why or how thats_the_case remains unclear;the research showed only an association between book reading and longevity, not a causal relationship. But the findings are not so surprising. Other recent research showed that reading novels appears to increase both brain connectivity and sympathy.【解题导语】研究发现,阅读和长寿有一定的联系,阅读者的平均寿命比不读书的人长将近两岁。1Why does the author mention Flauberts words in the first paragraph?ATo stress the value of reading.BTo compare reading with a party.CTo introduce the study on reading.DTo support the findings of the study.C解析:推理判断题。 2From the text, what can we learn about the study?ANo similar study on reading has been carried out.BThe process of the study lasted more than ten years.CIt shows readers live two years longer than nonreaders.DIt shows time spent on reading increases ones love for it.B解析:细节理解题。 3What do the underlined words “thats the case” probably mean?AReading books enables people to live longer.BReading is similar to a healthy diet and exercise.CReading books is closely associated with longevity.DReading increases brain connectivity and sympathy.A解析:词义猜测题。根据上文中的“books appear to promote a significant survival advantage”及上文所述的研究结论“读书可以延长寿命”和该句“Why or how thats_the_case . not a causal relationship.” 4Where can we most probably read this text?Ahttps://lifeandstyle/family.Bhttps://books/comingsoon.Chttps://news/toyourhealth. B(2018河南实验中学模拟)The police in Taiwan are unable to judge whether to treat it as an extremely clever act of stealing or an even cleverer cheat. Either way, it could be the perfect crime, because the criminals are birdshoming pigeons! The crime begins with a telephone message to the owner of a stolen car: If you want the car back, pay up. Then, the car owner is directed to a park, told where to find a bird cage and how to attach money to the neck of the pigeon inside. Carrying the money in a tiny bag, the pigeon flies off. There have been at least four such pigeon pickups in Changwa. What at first seemed like the work of a clever stayathome car thief, however, may in fact be the work of an even lazier and more inventive criminal mindone that avoids not only collecting money but also going out to steal the car in the first place. Police officer Chen says that the criminal probably has pulled a double trick: He gets money for things he cannot possibly return. Instead of stealing cars, he lets someone else do it and then waits for the carowner to place an ad in the newspaper asking for help. The theory is supported by the fact that, so far, none of the stolen cars have been returned. Also, the amount of money demandedunder 3,000 Taiwan dollarsseems too little for a car worth many times more.Demands for pigeondelivered money stopped as soon as the press reported the story. And even if they start again, Chen holds little hope of catching the criminal. “We have more important things to do,” he said.【解题导语】本文介绍了一种新型的犯罪行为。 5After the carowner received a phone call, he_Awent to a certain pigeon and put some money in the bag it carriedBgave the money to the thief and had his car back in a parkCsent some money to the thief by mailDtold the press about itA解析:细节理解题。根据第二段中的“Then, the car owner is directed to a park, told where to find a bird cage and how to attach money to the neck of the pigeon inside.” 故选A项。6The writer mentions the fact that “none of the stolen cars have been returned” to show_Ahow easily people get fooled by criminalsBwhat Chen thinks might be correctCthe thief is extremely cleverDthe money paid is too littleB解析:推理判断题。根据文章第三段中的“He gets money for things he cannot possibly return.” 7The underlined word “they” in the last paragraph refers to_AcriminalsBpigeonsCthe stolen cars Ddemands for moneyD解析:词义猜测题。 由此可知they就是指代上文提到的Demands for pigeondelivered money。故选D项。8We may infer that the criminal knows how to reach the carowners because_Ahe reads the ads in the newspaperBhe lives in the same neighborhoodChe has seen the carowners in the parkDhe has trained the pigeons to follow themA解析:细节理解题。根据文章第三段最后一句“.waits for the carowner to place an ad in the newspaper asking for help.” 故选A项。 完形填空(2018甘肃诊断)As a child, Jane was fond of animals.
