中国石油大学(华东)本科毕业设计(论文)1DevelopmentandanalysisofthelargespanFRPwovenwebstructureABSTRACTAninnovativelargespanstructuralsystem,namelytheFRPwovenwebstructureFRPWWS,isintroducedinthispaper.InanFRPWWS,thehighstrengthFRPstripsarewovenlikebamboostripsinaChinesebamboomattoformaplaneweb.Theouteredgeofthewebisanchoredonanouterringbeam,andaninnerringbeamisprovidedtoanchortheFRPstripsatthecenteroftheweb.Thestiffnessofthewebtoresistvariousloadsisderivedfromtheinitialprestressingduringtheweavingstageandtheadditionaltensioningasaresultoftheoutofplanemovementoftheinnerringbeam.AsaresultofthehighstrengthtoweightratioofFRP,thisnewstructuralformoffersanattractiveoptionfortheconstructionofspatialstructureswithspanslongerthanarepossiblewithconventionalstructuralmaterials.Inthispaper,thebasiclayoutandconstructionprocedureforasimpleFRPWWSisfirstpresented.Threebasicweavingpatternsarenextexplained.Severalvariationsofthebasicstructuralsystemarealsoproposed.AsimplemechanicalmodelispresentedforthedeformationofindividualFRPstrips.Resultsfromafiniteelementanalysisofanexamplestructurearealsogiven.TheresultsoftheseanalysesconfirmthefeasibilityoftheFRPWWS.1INTRODUCTIONFRPisanewkindofstructuralmaterial,whoseuseincivilengineeringhasbeenactivelyexploredinrecentyears.Duetoitsfavorablepropertieslike中国石油大学(华东)本科毕业设计(论文)2corrosionresistance,highstrength,lowweight,goodfatigueperformance,andlowmaintenancecost,itisconsideredtobeanidealmaterialforconstructinglongspanstructuresinthenewcentury.However,itsmechanicalpropertiesaredistinctlydifferentfromthoseoftraditionalstructuralmaterialsinsomeaspects,suchasitsanisotropy.DuetotheuniquepropertiesofFRP,itisnecessarytoexplorenewformsoflargespanstructuresforitsefficientuseandforachievingspanslargerthanarepossiblewithtraditionalmaterials.Forexample,Maedaetal.2002haveconceiveda5000meterspansuspensionbridgeusingFRP.TheFRPwovenwebstructure,anewlargespanstructuralsystem,ispresentedinthispaper.ThisnewsystemrepresentsanattemptaimedattheefficientutilizationoftheuniquecharacteristicsofFRPinalargespanroof.InanFRPWWS,thehighstrengthFRPstripsarewovenlikebamboostripsinaChinesebamboomattoformaplaneweb.Theouteredgeofthewebisanchoredonanouterringbeam,andaninnerringbeamisprovidedtoanchortheFRPstripsatthecenteroftheweb.AsmallscalemodelofasimpleFRPWWSisshowninFigure1.TheFRPstripsareinitiallyprestressedtoalimitedextenttokeepthemstraightduringweaving.Then,theFRPwebistensionedbyadisplacementoftheinnerringbeamintheoutofplanedirection,whichiseffectedeitherbyasetofprestressedtendonsorbysuspendingaheavymassfromtheinnerringbeam.Asaresult,atensionedFRPweb,whosegeometricstiffnessisabletoresistavarietyofloads,formsalargespanroofsystemwiththetworings.TheFRPWWSresemblesthecablenetstructureandthecablemembranestructuretheirmembersareflexibleandthegeometricstiffnessresultingfrom中国石油大学(华东)本科毕业设计(论文)3tensionisutilizedtoresistloads.However,theFRPWWShasitsuniqueadvantages1theFRPstripsareidealforsuperlargespanstructuresduetotheirlowselfweightandtheirsuperiormaterialpropertiesinthelengthwisedirection,whichareefficientlyutilized,whiletheweaknessofinferiorpropertiesinthetransversedirectionsisnotexposed2significantdampingcanbeexpectedtoarisefromfrictionatjointsbetweenFRPstrips,whichcanenhancetheresistanceofthestructuretowindandearthquakeloads3theregularweavingpatternleadstoanaestheticallypleasingsurfaceand4thecorrosionresistanceofFRPandtheeaseofinstallationbecauseofitslightweighttranslateintolowmaintenancecosts.Inthispaper,thebasiclayoutandconstructionprocedureforasimpleFRPWWSsystemispresentedindetail.Theweavingpatternsinplanearesummarizedintothreetypes.SomespatialFRPWWSformsforpracticalapplicationsarealsoproposed.AsimplemechanicalmodelforindividualFRPstripsinthewebispresented.ResultsfromthefiniteelementanalysisofasimpleFRPWWSarealsodescribed.2LAYOUTOFASIMPLEFRPWWSAsimpleFRPwovenwebstructureiscomposedofaFRPwovenweb,anouterringbeamandaninnerringbeamforanchorage,andanadditionalweightorasetofprestressedtendons,asshowninFigure1.ThewebiswovenwithFRPstrips,andCFRPstripsorotherhighperformancehybridFRPstripsaresuggested.CFRPstrips,whichhave中国石油大学(华东)本科毕业设计(论文)4beenwidelyusedtostrengthenconcretestructuresinrecentyears,aremanufacturedbypultrusioningeneral,withafibervolumeratioofabout65.ThepropertiesoftworepresentativeproductsmadeinChinaandSwitzerlandrespectivelyarelistedinTable1.Thestripscanbecurvedandcircumvolutedduetotheirsmallthickness.AtypicalCFRPstripwithpropertiessimilartothoseshowninTable1isabletoresistatensileforceof400kNormore,whiletheweightofa300mlongstripislessthan70kg.Incomparison,theselfweightofa300mlonghighstrengthsteelcablewhichcanresistthesameloadismorethan500kg.Thestripsarearrangedintoaplanesurfaceofasuitablepatternbysomepredefinedrules.Inthesimplestweavingpattern,eachstrippassesoveronecrossingstripandunderthenexttoformaweblikeawovenfabric.ApartofsuchwebisshowninFigure2Pongetal.2004.Inamoregeneralcase,thenumberofstripsmeetingatajointandtheanglesbetweenthesestripsarethebasicparametersofaweavingpatterntwostripsat90°toeachotherareshowninFig.3a,threestripsat60°showninFig.3b,andfourstripsat45°showninFig.3c.Atthejoints,stripscanbefullyinterconnectedbyadhesivebondingaftercompleteshapeformationorleftunbondedsothatslidingbetweenstripsisallowed.Inthelattercase,thestaticfrictionbetweenstripscancontributetothestiffnessunderstaticloadingwhiletheslidingfrictioncanconsumethekineticenergyofthestructureunderdynamicloading.3CONSTRUCTIONOFSIMPLEFRPWWS
