英文原文英语原文SandmixerAbstract:Afoundrysandmixerformixinganddispensingsilicaorgreensandandtheiradditivesthroughtheenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismhavingapluralityofopeningsinthetopcommunicatingwithafirstfeederdisposedabovetheenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismandincludingapairofopeningsinthebottom.Thefirstfeederincludesanauger-typeconveyorandasandweircommunicatingwiththemostupstreamopeninginthefirstfeeder.Afirsthopperforcontainingsilicasandandasecondhopperforcontaininggreensandaredisposedoverthefirstfeeder.Aselectivevalveisdisposedatthebottomofeachofthefirstandsecondhopperspermittingtheflowofsandthroughonlyoneofthehoppersatanytimeorpreventingtheflowofanysandfromthehoppers.Themixermayincludeadditionalfeeders,someofwhicharedisposedaboveanddownstreamfromthefirstfeeder,andothersincludingpumpsareconnectedtoapluralityoffluidsthatarefedthroughaconstantspeedmixerwherethematerialsaremixedandthemixedmaterialsdeliveredatadischargeopening.Inventors:Frankie,DonaldM.(1599GullLa.,Mound,MN,55364)Claims:1.Inafoundrysandmixerformixinganddispensingsilicaorgreensandandtheiradditives,thecombinationcomprising:(a)asupportframepivotalaboutaverticalaxisandhavingaplatformextendingradiallytherefrom;(b)anenclosureincludinganenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismextendingabovesaidplatformandhavingapluralityofopeningsinthetopoftheenclosurecommunicatingwithsaidbeltconveyormechanism;(c)firstfeedermeansdisposedaboveandatthemostupstreamlocationofsaidenclosedlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanism,saidfirstfeedermeanshavingabottomandconvergingslopingsidescommunicatingnearthebottomwithanauger-typeconveyor,andhavingapairofopeningslongitudinallyseparatedinthebottomthereoffeedingsaidbeltconveyor;(d)asandweircommunicatingwiththemostupstreamopeningofsaidpairofopeningsinsaidfirstfeedermeans,saidsandweirdisposedabovesaidlongitudinalbeltconveyormechanismfordispersingsandonsaidbeltconveyormechanism;(e)afirsthopperforcontainingsilicasanddisposedovertheupstreamportionofsaidfirstfeedermeans;(f)asecondhopperforcontaininggreensanddisposeddownstreamfromsaidfirsthopperandoversaidfirstfeedermeans;(g)selectivevalvemeansdisposedatthebottomofeachofsaidfirstandsecondhopperspermittingtheflowofsandthroughonlyoneofsaidhoppersatanytimeorpreventingtheflowofanysandfromsaidhoppers;(h)andcontrolmeansoperablyconnectedtosaidselectivevalvemeansforselectingoneofsaidtwosandsorneithertobedispensedontosaidbeltconveyor.2.Thestructuresetforthinclaim1including:(i)apluralityofsecondfeedermeansdisposedabovesaidbeltconveyormechanismandatadownstreamlocationfromsaidfirstfeedermeans,eachofsaidpluralityofsecondfeedermeanshavingabottomandconvergingslopingsidescommunicatingnearthebottomwithanauger-typeconveyorandhavinganopeninginthebottomthereoffeedingsaidbeltconveyor;(j)aconstantspeedmixerdisposedonsaidplatformandarrangedtoreceivegranularandliquidmaterials,mixthematerialsanddeliverthemixedmaterialsatadischargeopening,saidbeltconveyorcommunicatingwithsaidmixer;(k)andapluralityofpumpmeansconnectedtoapluralityoffluidsandcommunicatingwithsaidmixer.Description:Thisinventionrelatestothefieldofmixersandmoreparticularlytothefieldoffoundrysandmixersformixingsilicaorgreensandandtheiradditives.BACKGROUNDOFTHEINVENTIONWhiletheartofmixingfoundrysandpersethroughamechanicalprocessisgenerallyknown,thereareattendantproblemsinattemptingtousethesameequipmentformixinggreensandanditsadditivesasgenerallymightbeusedinamixerusingsilicasandanditsadditives.Becauseoftheinherentdifferencesinthematerialstobemixedandpassedthroughthemachine,thepracticehasgenerallybeentouseseparatemachinesforeachofthedifferentfoundrysandmaterialsandprocesses.SUMMARYOFTHEINVENTIONTheembodimentsofthisimprovementinventionmakesitpossibletocombinethenecessaryequipmentintoasinglemachinetomixeithergreensandorsilicasandandtheiradditives.Variousmeanshavebeenattemptedtomixgreensandwhichrequirestheadditionofsuchothergranularanddryingredientsasfireclay,bentonite,seacoal,pitch,woodflourandthelike,alongwithanappropriatemixtureofwater.Ontheotherhand,silicasand,whichmayalsobeknownasano-bakesand,isgenerallymixedwithdrygranularmaterialssuchaschromiteandferricoxideandseveralliquidingredientswhichmayincludecertainchemicals.Becausecertaingreensandmoldsmaybebrokendownafteruseandreused,greensand,whenmixedwithsuchcomponents,providesadifferentflowpatternthanthatofsilicasand.Silicasandflowsthroughhoppersandequipmentmuchliketheflowofwaterwhereasgreensandhasadditionaladditivesandmixturesthatgenerallymakeitlumpywithattendantflowproblems.Variousmeanshavebeendevisedinthepasttomakeaslurryoftheadditivesandaddthemtothegreensandbutthemechanismdoesnotprovetobeusefulinworkingwithbothtypesofmoldingsand.OnesuchmechanismisthatdisclosedinU.S.Pat.No.3,070,858issuedtoJ.S.Beacon.Itisalsoknownthatcertainsilicasandorno-bakesandmixershavebeenavailablebutarenotoperabletorungreensandthroughthemandmixthegreensandinthemannergenerallyattributabletosilicasand.OnesuchdisclosureofamechanismofthistypeisfoundinU.S.Pat.No.3,682,448isuedtoKedzioretal.ThepresentinventionisanimprovementuponthemechanismdisclosedinmyearlierU.S.Pat.No.4,140,246entitledPROPORTIONALCONTROLSYSTEMFORFOUNDRYSANDMIXINGDEVICE.Itisthereforeageneralobjectofthepresentinventiontoprovideanimprovementinfoundrysandmixingequipment.Itisamorespecificobjectofthisinventiontoprovideafoundrysandmixerthatwillmixeithersilicasandorfoundrygreensandandtheiradditives.Itisyetanotherobjectofthisinventiontoprovideafoundrysandmixerinwhicheithersilicasandorfoundrygreensandiscontrolledbyavalvemechanismselectivelydepositingoneortheotheronabeltconveyorforpropermixing.Theseandotherobjectsandadvantagesoftheinventionwillmorefullyappearfromthefollowingdescription,madeinconnectionwiththeaccompanyingdrawings,whereinlikereferencecharactersrefertothesameorsimilarpartsthroughouttheseveralviews,andinwhich:FIG.1isaperspectiveviewoftheinvention;FIG.2isaschematicdiagramofthemixercontrolcircuit;FIGS.3Aand3Bareschematicdiagramsofthedrivecircuitsforallofthevariablespeedmotorsdrivingfeedersandpumpsintheinvention;FIG.4isadiagramofthecontrolpanelontheendofthemixer;andFIG.5isaschematicdiagramoftheselectivesandvalve.PREFERREDEMBODIMENTReferenceisnowmadetoFIG.1whereinthefoundrysandmixer10isdisclosed.Themixerissecuredtoabase11thathasaverticalaxisaboutwhichahousing12pivots,housing12havingacantileverbeam13extendingradiallytherefrom.Attheupstreamendofthemechanism,abracket14supportsoneendofanenclosedconveyormechanism15andtheotherendofconveyormechanism15issupportedbyachute16thatactsasasupportbracketthatisindirectlysecuredtobeam13.Abeltconveyor17isdisposedwithinthehousing15andissupportedformovementbyapluralityofhorizontaltransverselyorientedrollers20.Adirectcurrentdrivemotor21isconnectedtothedownstreamendrollertodrivethebeltconveyormechanism17.Disposedabovetheenclosedconveyor15isafirstfeeder22whichiselevatedslightlyabovetheconveyorenclosure15.Feeder22isinthenatureofacontainerhavingslopingsidesconvergingatthebottomwithanauger-typeconveyor23drivenbyavariablespeedmotor24.Feeder22hasitssidesextendingupwardlyatanangleofapproximately30degreeswithaverticalandithasbeenfoundthatifthesidesextendoutwardlysothattheanglewiththeverticalisapproximately45degrees,flowofthegreensandwillbeencumbered.Feeder22hastwoopeningsinthebottomthereof,thefirstterminatinginasandweir25whichisattheupstreamlocationwithrespecttothelongitudinaldimensionofthefeederandisdirectlybeneathasilicasandhopper26.Disposeddownstreamfromsaidweir25isatubularmember27thatcommunicatesbetweenanopening30inthebottomoffirstfeeder22andthetopoftheenclosedconveyormechanism15.Disposedacrosstheopening30isascarifier31inthenatureoftworightanglediametricallyorientedrodsthatareusedtobreakupanylumpsthatmaystillexistuponbeingconveyedtothatopeningbyaugerconveyor23.Silicasandhopper26isdisclosedasbeinggenerallyrectangularinshapehavingacommonside32whichactsasaseparatorwithanotherhopper33thatisusedtocontaingreensand.Thesidesofthehoppersslopedownwardlyinaconvergingmannerandareterminatedinapairofchutes34and35.Aselectivevalve36isdisposedacrosstheopeningsofchutes34and35sothatuponmovementtotheright(asseeninFIG.1)sandwillflowfromhopper26throughchute34intofirstfeeder22butblockflowofsandthroughchute35anduponmovementtotheleft,valvemeanswillpermitflowofgreensandfromhopper33throughchute35butblockthemovementofsilicasand.Inotherwords,eithersilicasandorgreensandisadmittedduringthetwoextrememovementsandwhilethevalveisinitscenterposition,sandisrestrictedfrommovementintoeitherchute34or35.Selectivevalve36iscontrolledbyanaircylinder37thathasapistonrod38connectedtovalve36throughalinkage40.Asolenoidactuatedvalve41isconnectedtoasourceofpressurizedair42throughapneumaticline43.Thesourceofairunderpressureisgenerally100psiforgoodoperatingconditions.Apairofpneumaticlines44and45connectsolenoidvalve41withaircylinder37andthesolenoidcoilsarecontrolledthroughanelectricalcircuitconnectedtothesolenoidvalve41.A110voltsourceisconnectedthroughacommonlead46tosolenoidvalve41andonecoilhasitsreturncurrentpaththroughaconductor47andoneterminalofasinglepoledoublethrowswitch50.Theswitchbladeisconnectedtotheotherterminalofthe110voltsourcethroughaconductor51.Anothercoilinthesolenoidvalve41isconnectedthroughtheelectricalcircuitbyaconductor52connectedtoanotherterminalofswitch50.AsdisclosedinFIG.5,whentheswitchbladeisconnectedwithconductor47,thesilicasandorno-bakesandispermittedtopassthroughvalvemechanism36andwhentheotherportionofthesolenoidvalveisactuatedthro
