guide its operations and development. the cultural ideas of a corporate are very important and can effectively avoid the market and industry risks. without cultural ideas, the corporation would lack of its soul and direction, to let alone, its development. in a knowledge-based economy era, the role of corporate culture is very important. this paper lays out the corporate cultures definition, content and characteristics first and then from the corporate culture of corporation, the author demonstrates cultural influence on the core competitiveness of the corporation, and this promotes the sustainable growth of the corporation and the function in the competition for its talents. the author of the paper combines several cases to prove the role of corporate culture in the corporation development. in todays society, as market competition intensifies, corporations face not only the visible strength competition of capital, technology and equipment, but also a deeper level of corporate culture competition. the author hopes that this paper can help those people who havent a clear understanding of corporate culture will pay more attention to corporate culture. key 摘要摘要一个民族的发展需要一种民族精神作为支撑,一个企业同样需要一种精神和文化理念来指导自己的运营与发展,给企业一个准确的“定位”,从而有效规避市场和行业风险。如果没有文化理念的支撑,那么企业就等于没有“灵魂”,就失去方向,更谈不上发展。在知识经济的时代,企业文化的作用非常重大。本文首先从企业文化的定义、内涵和特点等方面认识企业文化,接着从企业文化对企业核心竞争力影响、促使企业可持续成长以及企业文化在人才争夺战中的作用等几个方面,并结合实例来论证企业文化在企业发展中的作用。在当今社会中,随着市场竞争的加剧,企业面对的不仅仅是资金,技术,设备等有形实力的竞争,更体现在深层次上的企业文化的竞争,所以,本文旨在唤起人们对企业文化建设重要性的认识,从而更加重视企业文化建设。关键词企业;企业文化:作用; also needs accurate “positioning” which effectively evades industry risks. without the support of cultural ideas, all corporate operating activities will lack of its “soul” and it will lose its direction.today, in the aspect of corporation management, the people are paying more attention to the strength of non-material factors. they begin to put it to the first place. “corporate culture” has become the core of corporation management and it is basic to corporation development. through the research of many successful models in the large corporation, we will discover that this corporation can develop rapidly and successfully, it is because they have succeeded in creating a unique corporate culture.corporate culture has its similarities in different corporations: there is a fully reflection of the companys purpose or spiritual values; the workers are regarded as the greatest wealth. the human values, requirements and training are concerned by the managers. their corporation all has an environment of internal unity and external adoption. their practice tells us that paying more attention to the value of our natural resources is the fundamental reason for its success.any corporation development and success is a hard project. they must have the tension of interjecting ideas. this is an abstract and specific corporate culture. nietzsche, german philosopher, once said: “when the baby first stands up, you will find his standing up is not his body but his mind”. a corporation must rely on his “brain” - corporate culture. all management philosophy and business ideas of a corporation are contained in corporation concept. if the corporate culture is not good and scarce, it only shows that the corporate management and operation are located in early primitive capital accumulation. strictly speaking, it cannot be called an “corporation”. whether the concept of a corporation can be very good throughout the whole corporate management lies in the staffs quality. since people are the carriers of the spirit, the mental outlook of the staff directly reflects the operation of the corporation. with the development of knowledge economy and economic globalization, competition among corporation is reflected on the culture of competition, corporate culture plays an important role in business survival and development, and it becomes the cornerstone and key factor of competition ability. under such circumstances and new situation, the function and practice are important to corporate culture. create a people-oriented and innovation-based corporate culture can provide the most powerful and most enduring platform for strategic management. taking a panoramic view of the successful corporation, they all share their own deep corporate culture.american harvard business school has done a research on 207 companies through the 22 sectors, and summed up the important factors that affect the development of the united states in the past few decades. harvard researchers john prescott and james hackett summed up two conclusions after study the book of “corporate culture and performance”. firstly: the corporate culture plays a major role of the long-term performance of the corporation; secondly, the corporate culture is very likely to become the key in deciding the destiny of the corporation in the first ten years. the two conclusions have attracted the americans to pay more attention to the corporate culture, and they have found some examples in japan and other latin american countries. however, in the case of application of the corporate culture successfully in china, haier is the first one. harvard researchers have obtained all aspects of numbers and information of haier, to the sustained and rapid development and successful implementation, what interested them most is the corporate culture of management and unique philosophy of haier. harvard business school professor william cohen said: “in the past, just look at the book can see a companys performance, and now more attention has been paid to the companys culture and the resulting cohesion. this is the reason that a company can have a sustainable development. we should study those successful businesses. we should know what the good corporate culture impact on the company. this is very meaningful for the development of corporation.”but corporate culture is the fuzziest area of corporation management, and it is also the most challenging aspect which is reflected in the values, moral, communication methods and it is also reflected in the behavioral practices of the staff. this shows that corporate and corporate culture is closely related to each other. it decides the survival of the corporate. building corporate culture surely becomes a hot topic now and an essential factor of modern corporate management system. but how wide the corporate culture is? how much internal connection is there between corporate culture and its development? whats the role of corporate culture in enterprise development? this paper will launch the discussion as follows.22.the introduction to corporate culturea. the definition of corporate culturethere have no coherent definition of corporate culture by now, and they are mainly reflected as the following:the first definition is summary which regard the corporate culture as the combination of material culture and spiritual culture.the second definition is circle which contains three concentric circles. the outer circle is material culture; the middle circle is system and cultural; the inner circle is spiritual and culture. this reference treats the spiritual cultural as the core.the third definition is spiritual phenomenon which considers the corporate culture is the entire spiritual phenomenon that based on material of corporation. this reference improves spiritual culture to a higher place. the corporate culture is the “soul” of corporation. the fourth definition is the group consciousness which refers to the group consciousness and behaviors that formed through the long-term practice among the staff.generally speaking, corporate culture is the summation of common sense, values, professional ethics and code of conduct and guidelines of social practice among staff that formed under a certain social economic conditions. it is a unique cultural managing mode which formed by its developing process. it is the result of introjections of social culture and organizational managing culture. it is the spirit wealth that created through the process of management. corporate culture has the function of attraction and cohesion. it can unify the purpose, need and interests. it can be said that the corporate culture reflects the spirit, style and value standard of corporation.b. the three parts of corporate culture corporate culture belongs to the “sub-culture”. corporate culture is the culture tone, corporation spirit and management conception that coherence by a long-term business and practice process. it expresses the cultural atmosphere, the spirit of corporation management, and ethics behavior. we can understand from three levels of corporate culture. the outer layer is corporation material culture, including the production style, technology and equipment characteristics and so on. the middle layer is corporate culture systems, including business regulations, norms and the moral values and action rules that must followed by the staff. inside layer is corporate culture, including the business school, business strategy, value orientation, as well as the pursuing, purpose and sensibilities of the staff. among the three dimensions, material is the basis, system culture is the key, and spirit culture is the soul and the soul. haier group sets up a “three-tier” model of corporate culture. haier group corporate culture consists of three levels: the surface, middle and deep. the corporate culture on surface is visible. it can be seen from the sound or smell, that is the development, speed, product and service quality of the idea, etc. the middle layer is the corporation flag, song, wearing, product image and workers outlook of the corporation. deep layer refers to the spirit conception that is collected in the soul of the staff. for example, the ethics values, ideals and beliefs, rules of behavior, this is the so-called implicit part. c. the features of corporate culture 1. uniqueness the corporate culture is produced in different corporation. each corporation has its unique corporate culture, atmosphere and the spirit of corporation management. the corporations have their own values, so the corporate culture is different. each corporation has its own characteristics. 2. mixed culture competitive mode of modern corporation has gradually shifted from the vicious competition to a new type of cooperative competition. cultural diversity must be continuously integrated. this combination of diversified, cooperation and sharing cultures, make it possible to overcome limited market space and the social structure, and realize the advantages restructuring of resources, achieve “double win” or even “more win.” in the past two years, we have seen such example: a certain item, such as intelligent residential area construction project, because it is too large and involves many aspects, any corporation cannot finish it alone. so the whole project is divided into a number of sub-projects and invites public bidding. then the winners will be optimized and finish the project combination together. only the corporation that is good at keen. the influence of the culture is even stronger than the other factors such as managing tactic, managing system and organizing structure. the function of corporate culture is mainly expressed as follow:a. enhancing core competitiveness the recent studies point out that the competitive power of corporation is the ability to continue to sell products and services more effectively than other corporation (consumer, including producing consumer). and obtain the profit and overall quality (experts in the study of the competitive power in china). after a long period of the international research, the rand corporation found that the competitive power of corporation can be divided into three levels : the first level, including corporation products and quality control, business services, cost control, marketing, research and development capabilities; the second level is a systematic layer, including the elements platform of the management structure, external and internal environment, resources relations, the operation of corporation, the size, brand, and corporation property rights system; the third level is the core layer, including corporation conception, corporate culture focus on corporation value, corporation image identically outside, innovative abilities, individual characteristics of different corporation, financial soundness, long-term goals of excellent vision and development. the first level is the surface competition; the second level is the most crucial competitive power. from this conclusion, we can see that the corporate culture plays the important role in enhancing their competitive power. the content of corporate culture is simple and clear. the values conception has been widely accepted by the staff. under the guidance of such value conception, in the business practices, the main staff will form a strong sense of mission. and employees of corporation will form an identity to the corporation leaders and corporation image. this is the power for corporate culture to become the base of corporation development.1. function of promoting cost savingsamerican scientists david says that the cultural value embodies in the following three aspects: first, cultural reduce the personal information processing requirements in corporation and it allows individuals to better focus on their daily work. cultural values, codes and the corresponding symbol make them no need to bargain for the task in the corporation. an effective culture can reduce the cost of decision-making and to promote the specialization of their work. second, the cultural supplies the official control system, and reduces the cost of personal supervision in corporate culture controls the staff behaviors are based on the active compliance towards corporation, rather than passive supervision. if the corporation core values were believed firmly by the majority of employees, then undoubtedly it is more effective than formal control, and it will avoid some opportunistic behavior in it too. third, the culture promotes the cooperation and reduces the cost of bargaining. culture impacts individual preference of the corporation, and tends the employees to the common goal, which reduces the individuals negotiations and the bargaining cost in the corporation, and promotes more the development and generation of collaboration.2. function of prompting the staffbecause the ideas of the staff are the core of corporate culture, they decide the ways of thinking and behaviors of the staff. therefore, a good corporate culture can fully exploit the potential and stimulates the morale of the staff. meanwhile, as a spiritual force, the corporate culture is restriction and pillar of corporation. when corporation management tends to team management, it is a mutual understanding between the “common language” within teams, and “common language” among team members. when a good corporate culture is founded, it brings a group of wisdom,
