Lasso under the name Process Supervisor.It then sat dormant for awhile.Mouser independently(and without being aware of PL)developed Process Tamer.We then both developed for awhile.He has ALOT of other utilities,so moved on to them with good reason.I stuck with my Process Lasso and continued enhancing it for the last several years.Its quite different from PT,so some users will prefer PT,and others PL.Naturally,I tend to speak to the ones that like Process Lasso best；).As for thebugsmentioned above.again,they are very minor and wont be seen by many people.If those are the worst bugs,I did pretty good.I appreciate having thoseannoyancespointed out though,I will work on them immediately.I apologize if Isounded defensive before.Process Lasso offers alot of features.You can explore them yourself.Some may find the software too technical,and Ican understand that.However,do remember that simply installing it will at least save you from some worst case scenarios,and improve mind that the GUI only uses alot of CPU when it is open and visible.When it is minimized to the system tray,its use goes to essential zero.I designed it like this because Irun it on my own systems and dont want aCPU hog resident in the background.For even less resource use,you can just have the core engine run and start the GUI whenever you need it(the systray icon will then show up,though may be auto-hid by Windows Vista/7,as they tend to do before the user changes the setting for that icon.Ok,back awake.did Iever sleep?Hmm.；p.69：NO,that is absolutely not true.there are NO nefarious internet connections in this software,thats for sure.That person was confused.The ONLY internet connection ever made is very simple one time activation and very simple update check once aweek,if enabled.If you got that from another download site on the net from years ago,a long time ago asingle person said they had this problem.Later,I spoke with them and they conceded it was their own firewall issue.I did have one report many days ago that somehow the updater checked for updates even when disabled,though never reproduced it and thoroughly reviewed the code.I think it was due to aregistry cleaner wiping out his oldupdate checksetting.OR user error,as Ididnt hear back；p.This is 2of 200,000+users whove tried the product(if not more).I added anew safety in v3.84.3,just to make absolutely sure it never checks for updates if you dont want it to.Besides that,update checks benign,and can be verified with anetwork sniffer.No crazy nefarious stuff like that here.TheDNS addresses that cant be reverse resolvedare just due to the way my web host allocates their IP addresses,and how the nameserver is set up.It is connecting only to ,and ONLY on those two rare times Imentioned.Those of you running said,mystandardfull/Pro edition is portable.This one that requires activation does need some registry storage for the activation key.As for storage in appdata,you can store the INI and LOG on the same as the build that actually saysProcess Lasso Pro.The INI configuration file is the same for all builds.It contains ALL features,even those unsupported by the active build.Even the free build supports ALL features for alimited time.So,hope that clears it up.No subterfuge.Its aminor configuration error,where Ididnt addProto the About box AFTER activation,as Ishould.1.If we stop Process Lasso Core Engine,what does it mean?Thecore engine(processgovernor.exe)is what actuallydoes the work.It applies ALL automated process rules,including ProBalance,default priorities,default affinities,disallowed processes.everything.So,you can use the GUI(processlasso.exe)to create/edit process and settings,then close it completely when not needed.This minimizes resource usage.The core engine is silent though(not even asystem tray icon),but it does write all its actions to alog you can view later with the GUI.2.What is the difference between stopping the Core Engine and shutting down Process Lasso?When shutting down Process Lasso,you are asked if you also want to stop the core engine.So,shutting down allows you to either close only the GUI,or both the GUI and core engine.3.Is Gaming Mode recommended?For Gaming and similar tasks it can be useful,but YMMV.This puts your PC in ahigh performance power scheme and tweaks ProBalance settings to help give the foreground process as much attention as it can.Now,it also does atemporary foreground boost,but only to Above Normal priority class.For this reason,I recommend simply trying it out.It may work great to avoid micro-lags,but that isnt guaranteed as interoperability issues with the priority class change could theoretically exist in rare cases.If it doesnt work,it wont cause any big problems.For the vast majority for which it does work,it is just another little optimization to improve their PC gaming experience；).4.Does Process Lasso tame the Memory Usage of the various processes or does it tame the CPU Usage of the various processes?Its ProBalance doesnt tame anything,it just reprioritizes the importance of the processes(the threads of them)in the view of the Windows CPU scheduler.This allows it to give CPU cycles to preferred threads in periods of high CPU contention.Virtual memory usage is NEVER changed/tweaked/adjusted.Now,for Vista and Windows 7,the SuperFectch priority of memory pages can be partially derived from the process priority class.Therefore,in an indirect way Isuppose it might also aid that.lol.Thatd be ahuge market-sleeze type claim there,and Iwont make that one；).Hope you can
