外文翻译题 目: 3d交互式虚拟模型的设计 系 : 学生姓名: 专 业: 班 级: 指导教师: 起止日期: 年月日quest3d documentation: frequently asked questionsin recent years, 3d computer graphics have taken the world by storm. hollywood movies show off fully animated monsters and entire alien planets. video games offer fantastic characters to play and vast interactive worlds to explore. commercial and scientific presentations are often made in 3d. even entire training programs can take place in a virtual reality. though 3d computer graphics have reached a mainstream status, actually creating them still requires much effort. only with proper, dedicated tools is it possible to produce convincing results in a timely manner. quest3d is the perfect software package for creating interactive 3d scenes. examples include product presentations, architectural visualisations, virtual trainings and computer games. quest3d features a unique style of programming. instead of having to write thousands of lines of complex code, developers make use of a large set of powerful building blocks. both flexible and easy to use, quest3d appeals to designers , programmers and artists alike. working with quest3d means developing in real-time: you are working directly on the end result. no time will be lost on compiling code or rendering images. quest3d has a stunning set of graphics features. large numbers of animated people, convincing vegetation, shadows, fire and smoke effects and realistic water can all be easily added to a scene. advanced features include physics simulation, pathfinding routines, database connectivity and networking support. this book is your guide to quest3d. it offers both theory and practical examples in the form of step by step tutorials. after reading this manual, you should be well on your way to creating almost any interactive 3d scene imaginable. welcome to the wonderful world of quest3d!what is quest3d?quest3d is a software package to develop real-time 3d applications. it is used to create architecture visualizations, computer based training programs, digital entertainment and many other real-time 3d based programs. what are the main features / capabilities of quest3d? quest3d uses a graphical approach to application authoring. you do not need have any programming skills to use it. it allows you to take your 3d models, textures and many other types of assets and turn them directly into an executable or web page. quest3d comes with a huge set of functions and features. hdr rendering, a dynamics engine, path finding, skinned meshes, hlsl shading, network synchronization, database connectivity and optional lua scripting are just some of the features. the good news is that no royalties have to be paid for any products you create. each development computer requires a single usage license and that is all you will have to pay. what are the system requirements of quest3d? software: quest3d runs on windows 98, 2000, xp and vista platforms with directx 9 installed. hardware: intel pentium iii or higher or amd athlon processor, 512mbytes ram, cd-rom drive, hardware accelerated directx compatible graphics card and 1024x768 display resolution. what graphics cards are supported quest3d supports all 3d cards that support directx 9 the performance and available feature set may vary per card. can i extend quest3d? you can write custom channels in quest3d with the free quest3d sdk, or write scripts in lua. what kind of modeling capability is included with quest3d?quest3d is not a modeling tool. this means that you will have to import your meshes and animations from other programs. what kind of models can i use with quest3d? there are three ways to get your models and animation into quest3d. first of all you can use our excellent .x importer. there are .x export plug-ins available for many 3d programs. the second method is to use okino polytrans which allows transfer of a broad range 3d formats directly into quest3d. polytrans is separate 3d format conversion software which should be purchased separately. when polytrans is installed, quest3d will automatically offer the many extra import options. the final method is to use the excellent quest3d export platform. this exporter is currently only available for 3d studio max but it offers the easiest way to export your scenes directly to quest3d. later, the quest3d export platform will also be made available for sketchup, maya and solidworks. for more information see: exporting what can be imported?quest3d imports polygon geometry, skinning (up to 4 weights per vertex), vertex colors, multiple texture coordinates, textures, animations, cameras and lights. when you use a .x exporter that exports two uv sets quest3d will import them. the quest3d export platform provides the easiest transfer of models which use multiple texture sets such as light maps and color maps. light maps can be generated by many almost any lighting software and then transferred to quest3d. supported texture formats are tga, bmp, dds, jpg and png. supported sound formats are wav and mp3. who uses quest3d?
