关键词:a,英语; b,农村; c教育; abstractenglish is a new course in rural elementary school. it is important to make rural students speak english, and it is even more important to develop students initiative to learn english. but, since there are still excellent students and poor students in class, how to cultivate the excellent students and help the poor students is a big concern that us teachers should care about. as far as i can see, we may think about this question form the following three aspects. firstly, having a comprehensive understanding of students, and visiting their home if it is necessary. secondly, stimulating students passion in learning english. thirdly, encouraging students comprehensively and designing different degree of homework. in order to prepare more elites for the middle school, we conclusion5bibliography6iii1 introductionpaying attention to every student to have them develop in a balanced way has become the core idea of the reform of the new course. therefore, the idea“cultivating the excellent students as well as helping the poor students” aims at improving students basic qualities, respecting students initiatives, and exploding students potential capabilities. whats more, the purpose of the book join in is to let all the students learn and use english to communicate in an enthusiastic and creative way, which requires us teachers focus on the individual and teach students in accordance of their aptitude. now im going to discuss my own perspectives on how to cultivate the excellent students and help the poor students in the course of english teaching. 2 having a comprehensive understanding of students, and visiting their home if it is necessary.its of great importance to have a comprehensive understanding of students or to visit their home since english is a new subject in rural schools. however, the time for students to learn english is limited in that there are only two classes a week for students in grade three according to the teaching schedule. students need to study english after class, thus the environment of schools and homes become a crucial factor. the best groups of english communication can be made up of several students or parents and children. if parents can learn english like their children do, they will be able to encourage them and make progress altogether. for example, there is a parent who works in tianhe airport. he always takes his child to the airport and encourages him to speak to the foreigners. although his child can merely have some basic talks with foreigners such as“hello. how are you?” “nice to meet you.” “ thank you”, the child gradually falls in love with english, and has improved a lot in english speaking. in addition, he finds confidence in speaking english. another example is about a visit to my students home. a stay-at-home childs grandmother told me that her grandson would get up with saying “good morning”, and went to bed with saying “good night”. i was so pleased and proud for my teaching method worked, and felt glad that my student could taste the sweetness of learning english. what makes me happier is an aunt of my student told me its truly useful to learn english for one year for the student even spoke english with a waiter in a kfc. “can i have a hamburger ?” “here you are.” “thank you.”this is their communication content. indeed, putting knowledge into practice is a reward and reaction of english teaching. both children and parents enjoy this process. family teaching becomes really important if parents want their children learning english and can be free from getting bogged down in the textbook. in conclusion, having a comprehensive understanding of students plays a crucial role in english teaching.3 stimulating students passion in learning english.in the process of english learning, teaching methods are also important. it should be a major concern to teachers about how to attract students to cooperate with them and how to cultivate students initiative and curiosity. as what the president of harvard university, rudenstine, said at the world famous university president bbs, “if there is no pure curiosity and thirst for knowledge as the driving force, it is impossible to generate those great human and social value of inventions”, i once used a kind of method to stimulate my students curiosity . i knew that children all loved stories, thus when i was teaching unit 1 numbers part 6 of grade 4which was about a snail to those students in grade four, i presented a box to them and asked them to guess what was in it. all the students tried hard to think about it. some students guessed there was some little staff, because we played this game last class. some guessed there was some food. some thought it was a type of stationery. only a naughty student said it was a snail. “why is it a snail?” i asked. “i have read this lesson yesterday, so i am sure it must be a snail.” a poor student could preview the new lesson, and his self-consciousness told us that he was a student who had made some progress. i was in recognition of his action and praised him in class. so other students had to learn from him .in addition, it is also a lot of fun to read and speak english in the spire time. well, the effect of ashers tpr was pretty good. students joined the class visually, aurally as well as corporally. as a result, everyone enjoyed himself. even the boy who was a little fat in grade four also moved and turned his overweight body, and imitated toby to do the tiger jump, ten nine and so on. especially when he did the zero, from squatting to jumping, i found that every student was so innocent and active, and i also saw the great pleasant and excitement after they had learnt english. i was deeply affected by them and shared the happiness of childhood with them.4 encouraging students comprehensively and design different degree of homework.zhang zhongcai said, “listening without speaking and reading without writing cant learn a language well. if there is only the input of the language -through listening and reading, without the output of the language through speaking, writing and applying the language, we also cant learn a language well.” it is quite vital to listen, speak, read and write in learning english. as for writing, i am very strict with students. i recommend every student write well each letter, word and sentence. if some poor students dont write well, they should rewrite and add “go on!” distzgen once said, “repetition is the mother of study.” therefore, letting students write words repeatedly is also a effective way of study, especially for those who dont have a good memory. however, encouraging poor students to learn english is not so difficult. learning english is just like making friends. two friends meet each other everyday, so they become more intimate, thus getting more and more familiar with each other. in class, i ask poor students to share their opinions quite frequently and pay attention to their every word and deeds all the time so that they can feel their self-existence. since an action that is even paid no attention may make students criticized by teacher, poor students self-consciousness is improved a lot by their self-respect. a praising word, such as “good, super”, can inspire them to listen to the teacher carefully. when assigning homework, i would sometimes assign at different levels. for example, when teaching starter unit of grade five, poor students homework is to write the eleventh question while top students homework is to imitate tobys sentence and to write themselves according to their own preference. as a result, top students develop good studying habits and explore all by themselves. so, teachers inspire students to learn from each other, encourage each other and supervise each other, thus putting the program that one student helps the other student into practice. if poor students cant fulfil the sentence which their parents also dont know, top students will tutor them forwardly. furthermore, in the fertile land of classroom, children develop and improve their advantages as much as they like. for instance, those who have standard pronunciation are responsible for teaching words and reading lessons; those who write well are responsible for poor students homework; and those who like performing are responsible for making programs. in summary, it is a necessary part of teaching to cultivate the excellent students and helping the poor students. consequently, english teachers should take it int
