He is reading at the moment.What are you doing?Im making cards.3. present the results confidently to other students4. learn to be a good listener and brave to ask questions in EnglishTeaching contents: Vocabulary of school buildings the present continuous tense “be +V-ing”Teaching aids: Blackboard, chalk, PPT, tapeType of the lesson: Vocabulary, speaking, grammarTeaching procedures:Step 1 Review(6 mins)a) Warm up:do the class activities in page 4“Lets chant.”(aim: to arouse students interest)b) Review the important sentences that we have learned in topic 1.Ask one group to answer oneby one.(aim: to make deep impression about the topic sentences) T: How do you usually go to school?S: I usually go to school on foot/by bus/by car T: How often do you play football?S: Three times a week./Everyday./NeverStep 2. Presentation (20 mins)a) Show some pictures of school buildings to learn new words(library, playground,lab, computer room, gym, classroom building, swimming pool, dormitory.) and teach students to read.(aim:using pictures to learn new words is a good way to help studens remember new words more easily and also make preparation of the following steps.)b)Lead in the topic sentence by saying “ Now you are in the classroom, so what are you doing?” and help students answer “I am having a class.”(aim: by setting a contextual situation to lead in the topic sentence lets students be familiar with this structure)c) Write the two sentences on the blackboard and read.(aim : to let students be more familiar with the structure)d) Use PPT to show some pictures and ask “what are you doing?”(aim : to learn the target sentence and speak out the sentences by themselves)T:What are you doing?S1:I am reading a book.S2:I am dancing.S3:I am swimming.e) Write the sentences on the blackboard and highlight the differences of the ing form of verbs.(aim: to give a deep impression on students by writing down the sentences and vocabulary)f) Ask S1 again “Are you reading a book?” and help him answer “Yes,I am.” Then ask S2 “Are you running?”, help her answer “No, I am not. I am dancing.”(aim : to learn the general question sentence )g)Listen to 1a and follow the tape.h)Students read 1a in pairs.(aim: to imitate the tape and practice speaking)i)Look at the picture 1 in 2a and ask students “ What is she doing?” ; do the same with the following pictures.(aim: It will be easy for them to change the personal pronoun after understanding fisrt person.)j)Finish 2a in the same way as 1a.Step 3. Practice (13mins)a) Ask student A to go dancing in the front of the classroom. At the same time, ask “What is she doing?”,and let one student answer “She is dancing.”Then asks, “Is she dancing?”“Yes, she is.”“Is she singing?”“No, she isnt.”(aim : to let students practice the third person and learn the forms of present progressive tense furtherly.)b) Group work. Three Students in a group ,one acts, one asks and one answer.Let students perform it in the front of the classroom. (aim:practice between students can reduce students psychological pressure and make them brave enough to speak out) c) Group work.(divide the whole class into four group according to the seat)A guessing game:use PPT to show some pictures,but just only a very small part of the picture,and ask the students to guess “What is she/he doing?”.The group which get more right answers will win the prize.(aim:to arouse students interest by competition and encourage students by giving the winner prize)For example:T: What is she diong ?S1: She is drawing.T: Is she drawing? (ask the others)Ss: Yes, she is./No. she isnt.Step 4. Production (6mins)Five students in a group and use PPT to show a picture in which many students are on the playground, ask students to discuss and describe the picture, using the present continuous tense. Ask one of the group member to report their result .Begin like this: (aim: to check out students whether they can use this structure masterly by their own ) On the playground,Mr. Li and Mr. Wang are playing table tennis now.
