You cannot manage time, you can only manage activities.2. Pinpoint your goal.“What precisely, do I want to accomplish?”3. Do the work in the order of importance. List the important & urgent jobs, do the urgent first and immediately follow by the important ones before they become urgent.4. Motivate yourself, by rewarding yourself for the job done.5. Establish datelines or timelines. Say, “Ill answer the letter before lunch,” instead of, “Ill answer it later.”6. Be decisive and follow with action.7. Say, “NO.” There is no need to make pointless commitments.8. Keep phone conversation simple, short and to the point.9. Write down ideas and appointments immediately as theyre made.10. Stop interruption, free yourself.11. Listen by checking your 5Ws & H12. Look for shortcuts. Instead of A, B, C & D, do it A, B & D13. Anticipate extra needs, ready extras, have them ready, (a big job can be slowed by lack of a small pin).14. Do it now! Dont fool yourself with waiting for the best time. The Best plan tomorrow is never better than a good action today.15. Use travel & waiting fully.16. Maximise your leisure time. (Select movies, programs, magazines, etc carefully.)17. Be active.18. Start earlier.19. Respect your time and the time of others.20. Knowledge without action is just that - knowledge, it is just like money under the mattress, waiting for you to put it to use.We might have read many books, listened to recordings, attended many seminars, we do have more knowledge on how to be and do better, but yet we produce results at a level way below our potential. This is because much of the knowledge we have learned just stays in our mind till we make a conscious effort and put our knowledge into action.Just the awareness of the power of action is not enough, for you to put knowledge to action you must decide what you want to change. The power to change any areas of your life will be in the application of the knowledge you have in you.It is not a question of how much you know, but what use you make of what you know. Not a question of what you have acquired and how you had been trained, but of what you are and what you can do.“Are you in earnest? Boldness has Genius, Power and Magic in it.”Goethe行动就是力量许多人错误相信知识就是力量,这完全是不正确的;所以许多有者感到穷末路,愁苦一生。 知识只是潜伏的力量,真的力量来至知而行。学以致用才会发挥它的力量,知识没有化为行动还是于知识。这好比金钱放在床垫而没有去应用我们可能阅读过许多书本听过录带,参加过不少研讨会,丰富的知识告诉们怎样做得更好。但是,业绩只在一般水平,未达理想,这是因为许多丰富的知识所学习到的都停留在我们的脑袋里而没有尽力的把所学到的知识化为行动去发挥。了解知识化为行动是不够的,你还要决定把灌输的知识化为行动去改变些什么。这股力量去改变你的人将取决于你所拥有的知识,不在于你懂得多少,而是你能实践多少你所懂得。不在乎你拥有多少和所接受的训练,而是你本质和能力。A SIMPLER LIFEBecome a SpecialistMany clients come to me wanting to learn how to manage their time more effectively. The vast “mountain” of tasks they are trying to accomplish each day is overwhelming. Some areangry. Some are extremely stressed. Some are simply incapacitated by the daunting challenge. All of them ask the same question:”How can I manage all of this?”I would like to suggest a different perspective. Instead of trying to think of “how” to manage it, try thinking first of “what” it is youre trying to manage. Move from being ageneralist to becoming a specialist.The first step is to take inventory of what you are trying to accomplish each day. Start by asking yourself these questions:-What do I really want to do? We often think, “If I dont do this, it wont get done.” That motivation comes from a sense of obligation and guilt rather than desire. This can(and often does) lead to feelings of resentment. Learn to say “no” to things you dont really want to do. Specialists have a real passion for what they do.-What am I expecting of myself? You get only 24 hours each day like everyone else. Give yourself a break! Look at what youre try to fit in to each day. Is it reasonable?Specialists have a keen sense of what they can accomplish and the time it takes to accomplish it. They dont “overbook” their schedule.-What do I do best? If you cant cook very well, stop trying to be the chef. Youll just get “burned” and no one will like what you “cook” anyway. Specialists are talentedin a narrow field. By limiting yourself to doing what you do really well, youll get even better at it.-What will I delegate? Managers are often guilty of having their “fingers” in everything. This only drains time and energy away from those tasks that only you can do. If youcant trust others to accomplish things, youve got other issues to deal with. Specialists are very good at what they do because its all they do. Brain surgeons dont treatin-grown toenails.The next step is to do it. Answering the above questions will help you define your specialty area. Start small by eliminating a few tasks that dont fit into your specialty area. Once you begin, youll find it easier to continue to narrow your focus by automatically screening out those tasks that dont fit. You must be willing to give up the idea of being “all things to all people.” Its much better to be proficient at a few things than to be mediocre at many
