OldenburgCraig is the youngest of five children, so you can only imagine his tormented youth. His faith has been strengthened through major survival stories including a flipped Chevy Blazer in the middle of the Colorado Rocky Mountains and a rolled ATV on the middle of his body. He started playing guitar in 12 th grade in order to support the youth ministry at his church and was so accomplished he could lead youth in tunes such as Oh Suzanna and other favorites from the 1800s. He was so excited to be in ministry with youth that he led a youth bike trip from Mackinaw (the top of Michigan ) to Grand Rapids , Michigan it was an incredible trip, especially when Craig fell from a cliff and tore the muscle membrane in his left thigh. He has been dropped while rock climbing in Colorado , been electrocuted by a wet/dry vac, and had his toes crushed while putting up his first framed wall at his wilderness cabin. He is married to his wife, Mary, and they have one new baby daughter who is kept far away from Craig for safety reasons. Seriously and professionally, Craig has served as a teacher, youth minister, camp director and college professor. Besides serving an internship at Camp Luther, Wisconsin, he served a total of 14 years in outdoors ministry as a program director, site director, and then eight years as executive director of Lutheran Valley Retreat inColorado. Craig has also been the Outdoor Christian Education instructor for several Concordia Universities since 1995. He just finished his first book, Experiencing Safely, for facilitators of all kinds, and has facilitated groups & teams around the United States since 1987. Personally, Craig has been married to Mary for over 25 ravenously wonderful years. Mary and he adopted Whitney Marisa Oldenburg, born December 30, 2008. Educationally, Craig has been trained as an elementary school teacher and certified as a Director of Christian education through Concordia University Chicago, received his master in Family Life Ministry from Concordia University in Seward , NE , and completed a Doctorate of Ministry through George Fox University in Portland , OR.
