But increasingly a victim of its own image and conventional ways, golf has lost five million players in the last decades, according to the National Golf Foundation, with 20 percentage of the existing 25 million golfers tending to quit in the next few years. People under 35 have especially rejected the game, saying it takes too long to play, too difficult to learn and has too many tiresome rules. Many of golfs leaders are so convinced the sport is in danger of following the baby boomer generation (born between the years 1946 and 1964) into the grave that they start an alternative movement leading to unconventional forms of golf with new equipment, new rules and revolutionary changes to courses. Among the unconventional types of golf is an entrylevel version in which the holes are 15 inches wide, about four times the width of a standard one. A 15inchhole event was held here at the Reynolds Plantation resort on Monday. It featured the top professional golfers Sergio Garcia and Justin Rose. “A 15inchhole could help junior golfers, beginning golfers and older golfers score better, play faster and like golf more,” said Garcia. Rose said he was planning to use an expanded hole to reintroduce the game to his fiveyearold son, who rejected the game recently after he had grown tired of failing at it. Golf still ranks among the USs top 10 recreational sports activities, and given its tradition, it is no surprise that all golfers dont agree with the alternative movement. “I dont want to reform the game and cheapen it,” said Curtis Strange, a twotime United States Open Champion and an analyst for ESPN. “I dont like any of that staff. And, its not going to happen, either. Its all talk.” But Ted Bishop, the president of the PGA of America, argues that it is those purists worry that has held the sport back for 20 years. “I went to a golf clubs 125th anniversary dinner not long ago, and the absolute majority of the people in the room were over 55,” said Bishop. “We should be asking, on that clubs 150th anniversary, whos going to attend?” 1According to the passage, golf_A. is unpopular among the young people B. has 20, 000,000 golf players now C. has caused too much trouble to people D. is developing rapidly over the years2The golf leaders in favor of an alternative movement_ A. hope to attract more elder golf players B. feel worried about the games future C. experience rejection from all the golfers D. decide to improve security on the golf course3What do we learn about the golf event held on Monday?A. It was set up especially for young children. B. It proved to be more difficult to play than usual.C. It used holes much wider than the standard ones. D. It was a practical experiment of the traditional golf.4Which of the following can describe Ted Bishops attitude towards reforming golf?A. Opposite. B. Indifferent. C. Critical. D. Supportive. 根据文章第一段的句子“People under 35 have especially rejected the game,”可知,35岁以下的人们尤其不喜欢高尔夫这项运动,故选A。 根据文章第三段的句子“the holes are 15 inches wide, about four times the width of a standard one.” _1_Being angry doesnt really solve much, but what people do when they feel angry is important. The goal is to calm down and try to solve what is bothering you. This is hard for some kids and adults, too.Instead of calming down, some kids might keep getting more and more upset until they explode like a volcano!_2_Their anger might be so strong that they lose control of their temper. They may act in ways unacceptable and hurtful.People may say that someone has trouble controlling their temper._3_Some kids might get so angry that they scream at their parents, break something,or even worse, hit their brothers or sisters._4_However,its not OK for a kid to do any of those things.Kids dont want to act in this way,but sometimes angry feelings can be hard to manage. So what to do?Well, the good news is that kids dont just have to keep making the same mistakes over and over again._5_Imagine your temper as a puppy(小狗) inside you that needs some training. The puppy is not badit will
