After reading the whole unit, the students are asked to write a reply giving advice to either of the letters on Page24.(技能目标:) 2. To strengthen students written ability by speaking first, encourage them to take notes while listening or reading and write an outline before their writing.(情感目标: ) 3. To help solve students psychological problems by discussing how to cope with stress and pressure and how to set realistic, obtainable goals of their life and study. 4.Students learn how to cooperate by working together on the project.Important and difficult points(重点和难点): Writing an advice letter.Teaching methods(教学法): Discussion method, cooperative learning method, task-based teaching approach, inductive learning method and evaluation method.Teaching tools(教具): Blackboard, projector and PPTTeaching procedures(教学过程):Step1 Free talk: ThanksgivingStep2 Revision:StatementIs it true?Advice1. The most successful students have no worries in examsNo1. be realistic about your abilities2. be content to do your best3. keep your life in proportion4. set your own goals2. Only students who work day and night will succeed if I dont have a university diplomaNo1. make an agenda and give yourself time to relax2. work hard but also work smart 3. I wont be successful in the future if I dont go to a key universityNo1. not everyone can go to a famous university2 .post-graduate study possible3. work hard at whatever course you study4. It is never too late to learn more.4.Ill never get a good job if I dont have a university diplomaNo1 prepare and make a plan for your future2 work hard and do all jobs efficiently 3 learn about professional attitudes and behaviour and interpersonal skills4 be positiveStep3 Discussion:1. Are you content with your life at the moment? Why or why not?2. What is your most serious worry as a student? What do you do to relax when you are under pressure?3. Do you think you are studying efficiently? How can one be an efficient learner?4. What are your parents hopes for you? Do you feel pressure from them?Step4 Language study:语法:复习强调的表达法(Revise the use of structures for emphasis)1. 运用助动词do (不改变句子结构,多用于肯定句中,只强调谓语动词)In fact, these students do suffer stress just like those with average or below average scores.This worry does affect many Chinese students and their parents. 2. 运用强调句型it is / wasthat / who (改变句子结构,可强调句中除谓语外的任何部分)It is just this kind of remark that produces pressure in anybody who is already anxious.It was Zhang Guoqings life story that made me think positively again.功能:1. 发表建议(Giving advice) If they had only been more confident, and followed some good advice, these deaths might have been avoided. Above all, dont become rigid in your approach work hard but also work smart. I personally advise you to keep trying. 2. 进行劝说 ( Persuading ) There is no reason for you to be too rigid in your study plan. Do strike a balance between work and rest. Set your own goals and dont try to fulfill other peoples expectations. Remember, it is never too late to learn more! 3. 表达鼓励(Expressing encouragement) Youre not going to let me down, are you? Im sure youll do better next time. Oh, come on! You can do it! Youre doing well / fine. 4. 表达安慰 ( Comforting ) I know how it feels. I can imagine. Oh, thats too bad. You must be very upset. I do hope everything will turn out all right.Step5 Writing task: Read Letter1 on Page24 and list the answers to the questions :A. what problem(s) does Yang Ming have?B. what suggestions would you give him?Read Letter2 on Page24 and list the answers to the questions :A. what problem(s) does Wei Lingyu have?B. what suggestions would you give her?Step6 Evaluation time/ Presentation:The best groups are asked to give their presentation.Step8 Homework assignment:Individually finish the reply giving advice to either of the letters on Page24.教后反思:本节课采用的是重过程的写作教学模式:先进行了大量的语言输入训练,对本话题进行充分讨论;还归纳复习了建议信的几种常用句型,表达法;再进行小组合作写出本次作文的要点和关键词汇、句子;然后教师选择几个较好的小组进行成果展示、汇报,共享信息,共同提
