,只用whether 不用if 的情况 1.在主语/表语/同位语从句中。 The question is whether the film is worth seeing. The news whether our team has won the match is unknown. Whether we shall attend the meeting hasnt been decided yet.,表语从句,同位语从句,主语从句,在主语从句中,只有用it作形式主语时,whether和if都能引导主语从句,否则,也只能用whether。例如： It hasnt been decided whether/(if)we shall attend the meeting.,C)在介词之后。(介词往往可以省略)例如： It all depends (on) whether they will support us. D)后面直接跟动词不定式时。 He doesnt know whether to stay or not.,E)后面紧接or not 时。 We didnt know whether or not she was ready. F)引导让步状语从句,只能用whether。 Whether you like it or not, you must do it well.,2. Whether / if Whether引导的名词性从句可作主语、宾语、表语或同位语； 在discuss,decide等动词后 在介词后 在不定式前 We discuss whether we should close the shop. We havent settled the question of whether I should go to Oxford. She doesnt know whether to get married to Frank or not.,3. whether与if都可以引导宾语从句，常可互换。但下面情况不能互换。 （1）宾语从句是否定句时，只用if，不用whether. e.g. I wonder if it doesnt rain. （2）用if 会引起误解，就要用whether. e.g. Please let me know
