Chinese people cares for what they eat. No matter what their financial status are, rich or poor, people at different levels try to eat good food. Food plays such an important role in peoples daily life and social activities that there emerge different food customs for festivals, religions, weddings, funerals and for birthday parties, etc. In social activities, friends and relatives like to gather around table. When something happens, such as someone giving birth to a baby or moving to a new house, friends and relatives would give some presents. As a return, the host would like to treat them to a sumptuous dinner. People also do business at table. It is usually the case that a business is done while the two parties enjoy the delicious dishes.,1.What are the differences in Chinese eating habits and western eating habits? The main difference between Chinese and western eating habits is that unlike the west, where every one has their own plate of food, in china the dishes are placed on the table and every one shares. 2.What are Chinese eating habits? A typical meal starts with some cold dishes, like boiled peanuts and smashed cucumber with garlic. There are followed by the main courses, hot meat and vegetable dishes. Finally soup is brought out, which is followed by the staple food, which is usually rice or noodles or sometimes dumplings.,four major regions: the northern plains, including Beijing; the fertile east, watered by the Yangtze River; the south, famous for the Cantonese cooking of the Guangdong Province; and the fecund west of Szechwan and Hunan Provinces.,Etiquettes, for Eating Western-style Food西餐进餐礼仪,Western-style food refers to the food or dinner cooked according to the customs of western countries. Western-style food is originated in Europe and the European cooking methods were conveyed by an ItalianMartin Polo to China. When eating western-style food, you can talk with others freely and lightly. But, when you talk with others, dont chew the food in your mouth. Generally speaking, clean your lips with napkins before talking or drinking. When eating western-style food, you can not hold the plate when eating; can not stab the food while eating the large piece of food. You should cut the food into small pieces and then put them into your mouth.,When eating western-style food, the way of eating is similar to the way of eating Cantonese food. That isdrink soup first and then eat the dishes. When drinking the soup, and hold the spoon with right hand, the spoon should face the outer side to ladle out the soup, and then put it into the mouth. Dont make any sound while drinking the soup. When eating western-style food, the bones and thorns should not be put into the mouth when you meet the dishes which have them. The food which already eaten into the mouth can not be spit out. So you should know the food you eat .,when eating western-style food. For the food which you are not so sure or the food which you dont like, then youd better not put them into your mouth. When eating western-style food, if you leave the table without finishing the dinner, you should put the knife and fork crossed beside the plate, let the edge of the knife faces inside.
