Introduce myself,My name is Yang Baolong，I work in Ha Ertao Primary school . I study on 2009.9 in ZhangWu TV university undergraduate course school English . During the period of school let me learn a lot of English professional knowledge . In this thank helped my teachers and classmates .,The China-English Translation of Public Signs and the Principles,Yang Baolong,Abstract,As a crucial communication material, the public sign exhibits its growing importance in the worldwide communication. Directing, prompting, restricting and compelling are their four most important functions; The frequent use of nouns, verbs, gerunds, phrases, abbreviations, combination of words and signs, present tenses and imperative structures marks their most outstanding stylistic characteristics, which make it a special text whose function is strong and communicative .Thus, its translation approaches should be based on the texts functions and the translators purpose. So my article will provides a theoretical frame work for dealing the problem by doing three things: Concluding the classification, character style of the public signs through analyzing some cases. Collecting and classifying representative cases of the mistaken translation, comparing the Chinese and English public sign. Come up with some principles for its C-E translation, namely, an A-B-C approach (Adapt-Borrow-Create approach) and the Skopostheorie.
