Sometimes they try to remember a solution from the last time they had a similar problem. They often accept the opinions or ideas of other people. Other times they begin to act without thinking; they try to find a solution by trial and error. However, when all these methods fail, the person with a problem has to start analyzing. There are six stages in analyzing a problem.First the person must recognize that there is a problem. For example, Sams bicycle is broken, and he cannot ride it to class as he usually does. Sam must see that there is a problem with his bicycle.Next the thinker must define the problem. Before Sam can repair his bicycle, he must find the reason why it does not work. For instance, he must determine if the problem is with the gears, the brakes, or the frame. He must make his problem more specific. Now the person must look for information that will make the problem clearer and lead to possible solutions. For instance, suppose Sam decided that his bike does not work because there is something wrong with the gear wheels. At this time, he can look in his bicycle repair book and read about gears. He can talk to his friends at the bike shop. He can look at his gears carefully. After studying the problem, the person should have several suggestions for a possible solution. Take Sam as an illustration. His suggestions might be: put oil on the gear wheels; buy new gear wheels and replace the old ones; tighten or loosen the gear wheels.Eventually one suggestion seems to be the solution to the problem. Sometimes the final idea comes very suddenly because the thinker suddenly sees something new or sees something in a new way. Sam, for example, suddenly sees that there is a piece of chewing gum (口香糖) between the gear wheels. He immediately realizes the solution to his problem: he must clean the gear wheels. Finally the solution is tested. Sam cleans the gear wheels and finds that afterwards his bicycle works perfectly. In short, he has solved the problem.1、 By referring to Sams broken bicycle, the author intends to_. Today a gentleman will probably look out of the window or hide behind his newspaper. Either way, the lady will have to stand until someone gets off.You cant entirely blame men for this change in manners. The days are gone when women could be treated as the weaker sex. A whole generation of women has grown up demanding equality with men; not just equality in jobs or education, but in social attitudes. Hold a door open for some women and youre likely to get an angry lecture on treating women as inferiors, unable to open doors for themselves. Take a girl out for a meal and shell probably insist on paying her share of the bill. Its no wonder, then, that men have given up some of the gestures of politeness and consideration which they used to show towards women. On the other hand, mans politeness is perhaps slowly being replaced by true consideration for the needs and feelings of women, so that men can see women as equal human beings.1、Why are some women likely to get angry is a man holds the door open for them? ( )A、Because men often offend women in this manner. B、Because they think they are looked down upon. C、Because the man should not hold the door open. D、Because they are treated too politely.2、What is replacing mens gestures of politeness? ( )A、More graceful politeness towards women. B、More impolite gestures of social behavior to women C、More equal treatment to women in every respect. D、More consideration for womens needs and feelings.3、What do gentlemen now do when a lady gets on a crowded bus or train? ( )A、They will stand up reluctantly. B、They will get off the bus C、They will offer her their seats after a while. D、They will pretend not to see her.4、What can we learn from this passage? ( )A、Men are beginning to treat women as equal human beings. B、Women have achieved equality with men. C、Women ought to make gestures of politeness towards men. D、Men ought to make gestures of politeness towards women.5、Which of the following statements is true? ( )A、Men have become less and less polite to women. B、The women could not open doors for themselves. C、Mens attitudes towards women are reasonable D、The women are thought of as the weaker sex.正确!收藏该题收起题目3、 There has been a great deal of research into the art of negotiation, and, in particular, into what makes a “good negotiator”. One point most researchers seem to agree on is that good negotiators try to create a harmonious atmosphere at the start of a negotiation. They make an effort to establish a good rapport with their opposite member, so that there will be a willingness on both sides to make concessions, if this should prove necessary. Good negotiators generally wish to reach an agreement which meets the interests of both sides. They therefore tend to take a long-term view, ensuring that the agreement will improve, at least not harm, their relationship with the other party. On the other hand, a poor negotiator tends to look for immediate gains, forgetting that the real benefits of a deal may come much later. Skillful negotiators are flexible. They do not “lock themselves” into a position so that they will lose face if they have to compromise. They have a range of objectives, thus allowing themselves to make concessions, for example, “I aim to buy this machine for 2 000” and not “I must buy it for 2 000”. Poor negotiators have limited objectives, and may not even work out a “fall-back position”. Successful negotiators do not want a negotiation to break down. If problems arise, they suggest ways of resolving them. The best negotiators are persuasive, eloquent people, who select a few key arguments and repeat them. Finally, it is essential to be a good listener and to check frequently that everything has been understood by both parties.1、If we understand that the some real benefits of a deal may come much later ( )A、we will try to change the relationship with the other party B、we will try much harder to improve the agreement C、we will pay more attention to the benefits on both sides D、we will take a long term view in the negotiation2、Many poor negotiators may not make any concession for themselves in that ( ).A、they have no clear objectives B、they are afraid of losing face C、they are not flexible D、they are not skillful3、The best title for the passage is ( ).A、Benefits on Both Sides B、Skills of Communication C、How to Be a Good Negotiator D、Art of Negotiation4、Good negotiators are usually very persuasive and eloquent in order to ( ).A、have better communication with their partners B、make sure that everything is understood C、work out ways to resolve problems D、avoid the breakdown of the negotiation5、Negotiators good rapport can make it easy for negotiators ( ).A、to create a positive environment B、to increase negotiators status C、to make necessary concession D、to make them fully understood收藏该题4、 The garbage does not simply disappear. It may go on to a transfer station. Since it is difficult and expensive to dispose at landfill sites and incinerators. People are encouraged to recycle and compost (堆肥) their garbage. Garbage is picked up and taken and will be carefully buried or burned. The problem with these methods of garbage disposal is that they cost money, take up land and cause pollution. One solution to the problem of solid waste disposal is composting. Some things that can be composted such as fruits and vegetable peels. People can compost these food products by placing them in an outdoor container where they decompose( 分解 ) into a substance called compost. Compost, which contains plant nutrients, can be spread in the garden to help other plants grow. Another solution to the problem of solid waste disposal is recycling. Some things can be recycled, such as glass jars, tin cans, office paper and newspapers. People can recycle used products by putting them in the blue box. The recycled goods are melt down to be used for products. Recycling and composting are two ways of reducing the amount of solid waste. These methods show people a new way of handling garbage: many things people throw away can be used again正确!收藏该题展开该题5、 The poor little girl was tired and hungry in the forest. Sometimes it may just be a comforting and harmless belief, while at the other extreme it can be very destructive. I once met a brilliant young engineer who worked in a chemical plant. Because of her knowledge and experience, she should have been promoted to Production Manager. Instead, the job went to a man who was totally unsuited for the post. Everyone knew that he only got it because he was politically acceptable to his superiors. This injustice demoralized the young engineer and many of her colleagues. It also meant that the factory was much less efficient than it could have been. All the same, we should not be pessimistic. More and more, the modern world depends on having people who are in the job because they are good enough, not just because their face fits. There is a story of a factory owner who sent for an engineer to see to a machine, which would not go. He examined it, then took out a hammer and tapped it, once. The machine started up immediately. When he presented his bill, the owner protested, This cant be right! $100 just for tapping a machine with a hammer? The engineer wrote out a new bill: For tapping a machine, $1; for knowing where to tap it, $99.正确!收藏该题展开该题2、There was a time when, if a lady got onto a crowded bus or train, a gentleman would immediately stand up and offer her his seat.
