Lesson Plan PresentationPeking College of Beijing 中北 Good morning, everyone. Im Z虹北 from Peking College of Beijing. Im very glad to share my lesson plan with you. The lesson Im going to talk about today is from Practical English Comprehensive Course. Book 1, Unit 3 Text A Stay Safe Online. Period 1-2, reading for writing. Id like to explain it from these seven aspects. Part 1 The analysis of the teaching material The topic of this lesson is Stay Safe Online. The reading material is a cause and effect essay, the author offers three tips of how to stay safe online and still enjoy the online experience. Part 2 The analysis of the learning condition Even though the topic Stay Safe Online is familiar to the students in my class, still some of them cant write a well-organized passage about their safe online experience. With the limited vocabulary, the students may lack of rich words to show their safe online experience. Fortunately, the reading passage offers a nice model for students to imitate. Part 3 The learning objectives First, language skills. By the end of the class, students will be able to read for the outline of the reading passage and write a short passage about their safe online experience according to the outline. This is also the learning focus of this class. Next, language knowledge. Students can use the following words and expressions: leisure, policy, identity, involve, related to, when it comes to, trick into, notuntil Then, affect. In this class, students will share online experience of classmates and understand that we need to be careful when we enjoy our online experience in our life. Finally, learning strategy. In this class, students will improve their ability of autonomous learning and cooperative learning. Part 4 The language focus. These are the language focus: words: leisure, policy, pretend, identity, favorite, detail, value; phrases: related to, when it comes to, trick into, on ones guard, give out; structure: not until My students may find it difficult to figure out the structure and they may lack of nice expressions in the writing. Therefore, lots of attention will be paid to the writing structure and nice expression in this class. These are the possible ways to solve the difficulty. First, ask the students to read the text and get the outline of the text, and then ask them to write down the possible tips of stay safe online, besides, I will give some sentence patterns for students to use on the blackboard. Part 5 Teaching methods and teaching aids To achieve the objectives, Ill adopt Task-based teaching method and communicative teaching method for reading and cause and effect approach for writing in this class. Ill use PPT documents and OHP as my teaching aids. Part 6 Teaching procedures Step 1 Warming-up To warm up, I will invite students who have prepared five English words related to the Internet before class to teach them to the class. After the teaching, I will check the teaching and learning. This aims to attract students attention and get them ready for class. Step 2 Pre-reading activitiesThrough warming-up activity above, students might know some words about internet. Thus, I will show the following questions to them for discussion: Do you often surf on the Internet? What do you usually do online? Have you entered a chat room? By talking about these questions, students get some information about stay safe online which will help them read better. In order to help students discuss these questions, Ill show them some background information.Step 3 While-readingNow its time to read. Students are asked to read the passage, decide the structure, answer the questions and finish the exercises on the book, and give opinions about his online experience. This is the process of input by reading.Step 4 Post-readingAfter the students finish reading, we will first check the answers and share the students opinions.Next, Im going to help students find out the structure by talking about the tips offered in the text, and why we should follow these tips and what will happen if not.Then, Ill ask the students to retell the passage by looking at the structure. By retelling, students not only understand the text better, but also summarize the structure of writing how to stay safe online. Its like this, which consists of three parts: beginning, body and ending.However, only learning the structure is not enough to write a nice passage. We also need to pay attention to the expressions. So Ill ask students to find out the useful expressions in this text and then learn together.Step 5 SummarySince we have talked so much about staying safe online, Ill summarize todays learning and make comments on the text.Step 6 HomeworkAfter doing the above work, its time for homework. In this part, students are required to read the text fluently after class, and write an article with no less than 6 sentences on the topic of “The Positive/Negative Effect of Computers”.
