Different class activity designs should embody their own characters, whats more, which should reflect teachers teaching ideas and can arouse students interest to learn English well. Therefore, in order to improve class activity design better and find out problems in teaching designing written by pre-service teachers. This thesis, by corpus and quantitative description, investigates and researches teaching designing written by 30 pre-service teachers (they are grade 08 English majors in Shi Hezi University) from the following four questions: 1) what activities have been designed by the subjects in their class teaching designing? 2) what are the efficiency features of teaching designing related to the teaching objectives? 3) how are the description of activities including the clarity of targets, resource provided, the way of targets finished, time of targets finished and targets checking? 4) how are the achievement of objectives in their class teaching designing? Then this thesis offers some advice according to those questions in order to improve the level of teaching designing, promote teachers professional development and elevate in overall the technology of teaching designing of middle school and the quality of teaching.Key words: teaching designing; middle school; pre-service teachers摘 要课堂活动设计是中学英语教学的主阵地,不同的课堂活动设计体现了其自身的特点,同时,反映了教师的教学理念,对课堂教学效益产生直接的影响以及激发学生的兴趣以此来学好英语这门课程。因此,为了更好的完善课堂活动设计,找出职前教师在教学设计中所存在的问题,本文采用语料库和定量描述的方法从四个方面对30位职前教师(他们均是石河子大学08级英语专业的学生)的教学设计进行调查研究,它们是:1)职前教师的教学设计中通常会采取哪些活动? 2)关于教学目标有什么有效性的特征在职前教师的教学设计中? 3)针对活动的描述,设计者是否对目标的清晰度,资源的提供,任务完成方式,任务完成时间和任务的检查这五方面做出了详细的描述? 4)设计者是否在自己设计的教学过程中对自己所设置的目标有很好的完成?通过对本课题的研究,明确目前职前教师在教学设计中存在的问题,并提出相应的建议以此来提高教学设计的水平,促进教师专业发展,整体地进一步提升中学英语课堂教学设计的技术和教育教学的质量。关键词:教学设计;中学英语;教师ContentsI. IntroductionA Research settingIn the 17th century, due to the industrial revolution in England, Economy, especially industry and commerce, had been booming through a long term in history. All these have made contributions to the widely transmitting of cultures of English speaking countries, especially in the field of language.With the informationization of social life and economic globalization, the importance of English has become increasingly prominent. English as the most important carrier of information and an international language has been widely used in each field of human life and it has played a very important role in the progress of science and technology, international economic and cultural communication. Whats more, English is of importance on peoples accomplishment. English Curriculum Standard of 2011 put forward that students by the learning of English, can form the ability of preliminarily using comprehensive language, promote the mental development and improve the comprehensive humanistic quality. So it is a demand for high quality talented person to learn English well.Therefore, it is clear that English teaching is very important in our country whose mother language is not English. However, what is important in English teaching? It is no doubt that it is teaching designing. 何克抗 thinks teaching designing is a systematic process that puts learning theory and teaching theory principles into teaching target, teaching design, teaching methods and teaching evaluation. As the basic aspects of teaching, teaching designing is the overall framework for implementation of the program. The whole process of teaching English of teaching designing is the English teacher before teaching, make on how best to teach students the basic knowledge, develop the basic ability to guide students to learn the correct way to develop the overall design of a good emotional attitude and values. In general, it includes the design of the teaching objectives, teaching imported before class design, and implementation of the process design, teaching reflection design(杜晓菲,2012). English teachers, by a good teaching designing, make sure students sustainable development and let students master the way of learning foreign language which can make students have the good learning attitude and lay the foundation for lifelong learning. In order to achieve it, teachers should make a good class activity design to arouse students interest. However, from researching, it is clear that there are many problems in teaching designing. 谢剑卫(2011)said in the teaching and practice, he thought that some problems still exist in actual English teaching, such as the ability to understand and handle teaching content; teachers teaching ideals and teaching methods; the ability of teaching activity design; teachers professional quality; the understanding degree of teachers to students; students differences. All these can affect the efficiency of classroom designing.B. Research Purposes The purpose of this thesis is to solve four questions in teaching designing written by pre-service teachers. The first question is they have the similar activities in teaching designing. By comparative research, hope all the teachers can enrich the variety of teaching designing to make class activity more colorful. The second question is about efficiency of teaching objectives. By comparative research, making sure all the teachers can improve teaching designings efficiency and help them finish teaching objective and teaching task well. At the same time, it can help students understand science, learn scientific method and learn skills. The third question is that teachers can not describe teaching activity well. This research let teachers know the questions about the description of teaching activity and offer some methods to solve these questions in order to improve the quality of teaching designing. The forth question is about achievement of teaching objective. By the research, it is clear that most subjects have problems in realizing their teaching objective. That is, they have designed teaching objectives, but they dont realize them in their teaching process. Through the research, it is clear that there are some problems in teaching designing written by pre-service teachers, and about these questions, this thesis will put forward relevant suggestions in order to improve the level of teaching designing and teachers professional development. Besides, it also can improve middle school English classroom teaching designings technology and the quality of educational teaching.Teachers, pre-service teachers, will carefully study the teaching theories, and practice them in the English classroom teaching. Finally they should find out a set of suitable pattern for the students to learn English, improve the teaching efficiency, arouse and maintain students interest in English study, cultivate the students learning ability and implement quality education. And teachers should regard the English class as a platform to help the student develop into a comprehensive man.In significance, the present research:1)identify the problems with the teachers Teaching Designing, esp in respect to the description of teaching objectives, achievement of objectives; 2) help the researchers to find out the tendency in Teaching Designing researches; 3)help the teachers professional development.II. Literature ReviewThrough collecting the literature (previous studies) about teaching designing, its found that researches are mainly concerned about efficiency of Teaching Designing (TD, in the following passages, Teaching Designing will be abbreviated TD), practicing principles of Teaching Designing, strategies of Teaching Designing etc. Hence, the following part will state the researches about Teaching Designing including: definitions of Teaching Designing, researches on Teaching Designing including: teaching theory and their influence on Teaching Designing, practice of Teaching Designing and elements of Teaching Designing, and researches on Class Activity Designing.A. Definitions of Teaching Designing Theoretically speaking, TD is the primary procedure in which teachers (instruction practationers) applies their teaching beliefs and teaching theories to design the objectives, transmit the information, arrange the instructional steps before the teaching practice. So, TD is thought to play a prominent role in teaching. While concerning the denotations of TD, there are a variety of definitions. 陈亮(2008)says teaching designing is an activity which make teaching activity more vitality, development and effectiveness. 薛煊 (2009)says teaching designing is a practical education application subject gradually formed and developed in the 1960s which plays an important role in instructional technology.王清(2010)cites 乌美娜 thinks that teaching designing is a systematic method to analyze the teaching problems and to determine the teaching objective, and also is a process that set up to solve problems in teaching strategy plan and implementation plan, to evaluate trial results and to modify the plan. 何克抗 thinks teaching designing is a systematic process that puts learning theory and teaching theory principles into teaching target, teaching design, teaching methods and teaching evaluation. Jia Nie who is a contemporary instructional designer published Instructional Design Principles, in 1985, says: “teaching designing is a systematic planning teaching system process.” Meryl published The New Instructional Design Declaration in 1996, says:“ teaching designing is a kind of technology to develop learning experience and learning environment and these learning experience and environment benefit students to obtain specific knowledge and skills.” Dick and Carey published The Teacher Standard Guidelines in 1996, think teaching designing is a systematic process to design, develop, implement and evaluate teaching. Sears in 1998 published Instructional Design Decisions, says :“teaching designing is a process to solve the problems through the systematic analysis of the studys conditions.” Smith in 2001 published Instructional Design, says :“teaching designing is a systematic process to put the principles of learning and teaching into teaching materials and teaching activities.To sum up, there are many different opinions about the definition of teaching designing, but generally it divides into three type: the first one is teaching designing plans teaching progress systematic; the second one is progress which create and develop learning experience and learning environment; the third one is teaching designing is a science about designing.B. Researches on teaching designing Nothing can exist by itself in the world. Everything can exist by connecting with other things besides teaching designing. From collecting literature review, it is clear that there are many researches on teaching designing I will expound that from three aspects. 1. Teaching theory and their influence on Teaching DesigningSince the 1980s, teaching designing theory had introduced into China, which is in a stage that is introduced and absorbed foreign research results. Nearly 20 years of practicing have showed that, due to the lake of a large number of teaching designing theory supporting, the current teaching designing has problems such as a logical starting point is displacement and explanatory power is not enough. So it is difficult to solve specific problems in teaching by only providing teaching designing. So it is important to find a teaching designing which is suitable to our education about English (周红,2003). The next part will state teaching theory and their influence on TD.王楠 and 王星 (2003,47-51)put forward the application of Social Constructive Theory into teaching designing to make an attempt to demonstrate the possibility and necessity of applying the constructivism theory and its principles to the teaching of English majors. 韩芳(2007,173-190)proposes the application of Cognitive Load Theory into teaching designing to minimize unnecessary cognitive load in the teaching task in order to greatly improve the learners learning power. 孙华(2009,116-118)thinks that Chaos (混沌) is a kind of theories that integrates social science and natural science. At the end of 1970s Chaos theory(混沌理论) was permeated in the field of teaching and imposed important direction on English teaching design English teaching activity is a dynamo in process design and it should be mastered and used under the guidance of butterfly effect fractals and strange attractors to expand new horizon for English teaching. 熊英(2010,53-55)points out Structuralism Theory into college English teaching designing, which offers an effective reference for structuring and guiding the new college English teaching in class, especially the four-link teaching designing of college English class including innovating and interesting, exploring cooperatively and extending, showing and appraising, can develop the students independent learning ability and English comprehensive applied ability, so as to enhance the teaching quality in class of college English effectively. 段阳阳(2011)presents MI theory (the Theory of Multiple Intelligence) into college English teaching. MI theory can change teachers traditional teaching ideas and evaluation, sets up the right philosophy of students, and supplies various teaching strategies with theoretical foundation. 钱慧(2012,51-53)think that Constructive Theory should be used into senior school English teaching. Based on the researches above, it can be conclude that: 1)TD is not only a research field related to practice but also an important activity motivated by theories; 2) TD researches have been conducted by using different methods, such as falsified approach, as well as empirical approach; 3) TD has been inquired in the perspective of cognition. 2. Practice of Teaching Designing.In new curriculum reform. The New Curriculum Standard requires that English course should change teaching patterns which pay too much attention to grammar and vocabularies, and neglect the cultivation of practical ability to use language. It emphasizes the course should cater to students interest in study. About the question-how to practice TD, there are many researches done in the view of practice.周红(2003,10)holds the belief that English teaching designing for primary school should be guided by the concept of cooperative learning and the paper tries to combine theory with practice ,and not only makes predicable, applicable systematic design, but also arrange on the structure and instructional stages of collaborative classroom English instruction in primary school. 王宁玲,戴忠信 and 刘洋(2005,55-57)put forward English teaching design and network supporting system realization based on compound teaching mode which is compatible with traditional teaching mode, modern multimedia and network teaching mode. 张舍茹(2009,101-105)presents the inquiry-learning-oriented design for English teaching whose purpose is to deconstruct the traditional teacher-oriented model, and to constitute the students-oriented and teacher-guiding model so that students potential can be tapped and put into full play. 王欢 and 陈冰冰 (2010,94-99) point out a moodle-based blended instructional design of college English. Blended teaching advocates integrating the advantages of traditional classroom teaching and modern network teaching, and then adopting various teaching patterns in the teaching designing. 韩芳(2010.583-584)proposes English teaching designing based on the concept of learning community which is a new form of teaching organizing guided by Constructive teaching theory.According to The New Curriculum Standard, many teachers try their best to make a good teaching designing. But what is a good teaching designing? From the discussion above, it is clear that a good teaching designing not only helps teachers to finish their teaching objective and teaching task, but also can arouse students interest to learn English well.
