摘要 功能对等理论在英汉习语翻译中的应用 摘要 习语是人类文化宝库中一颗璀璨的钻石。从整体上讲，习语既语 言简洁，又寓意深刻，既形象生动，又韵味隽永。然而，各个国家文 化、历史、语言的差异阻碍了人们对习语的正确理解。因此，如何合 理地把英语习语翻译成汉语，绝非易事。到目前为止，我国英汉习语 翻译的现状还停留在一个较低的水准：学者们虽然对此做了很多研 究，但大部分仍集中于语言层面上；从文化角度来探讨英汉习语的翻 译越来越受到学者们的重视，但仍然不够全面或深入；习语的翻译仍 然是在传统策略的指导下进行的，很少有人能关注到英汉习语在各个 层次上的差异；习语自身的特点和功能也常常被忽视。 在这种情况下，英汉习语翻译就更为值得关注。作者试探性地提 出把尤金奈达的“功能对等”理论引入英汉习语翻译中来，因为习 语翻译本身就是“在接受语中寻找和原习语信息尽可能贴近、自然的 对等话语，首先是意义上的对等，其次才是风格上的对等”。本文首 先回顾了国内外对等理论研究的发展和理论依据，并对英语习语的定 义、特点和功能作了共时和历时的描述。其次，作者论述了“功能对 等 理论在英汉习语翻译中的可能性和必要性。在此基础上，作者以 “功能对等”理论为指导，一 i d i o m se x p r e s s i n gt
