山东人学硕i ：学位论文 中文摘要 英语写作是英语学习者必须掌握的四项技能之一，是外语教学过程中不可或缺的 一环。同时也是学生们反映最难掌握，教师们感觉最难教授的一项技能。由于种种原 因，在中国，英语写作技能是听、说、读、写四项技能中最薄弱的环节。在英语写作 中，怎样才能使一篇文章自然流畅，写出既有意义又符合语法规则同时又符合英语表 达习惯的文章是对大部分的英语学习者的一个巨大挑战。许多学习英语多年的大学生 基本上掌握了最基本的英语写作技能，能够用所学的英语词汇和句型完成一般性的写 作任务，内容基本完整，用词基本符合语法规则，语法错误较少。但是，他们在英语 写作中暴露出来的一个主要问题是在连贯方面有所欠缺，一些句子和主题句或中心句 之间缺乏紧密的逻辑联系，段落之间或段落中各句子之间缺乏恰当的衔接。因为在行 文中缺乏必要的衔接手段的衔接或因为不能正确地运用衔接手段，使得文章意思前后 不够连贯，结构散乱，条理不明，句子生硬，语言单调累赘。这是许多大学生尤其是 基础相对较弱的高职高专大学生在英语写作中面临的一个主要问题，即如何正确运用 衔接手段，使文章衔接连贯。如何帮助学生克服这一问题是广大英语教师与研究者的 一个重要任务。 自从1 9 7 6 年韩礼德、哈桑发表 英语的衔接一书以来，衔接与连贯便成了语 篇分析的重要概念，受到越来越多的重视。各个流派的语言学家从各自的理论角度对 其做出了不同的解释，使得对衔接与连贯的研究达到了一定的广度与深度。韩礼德和 哈桑指出衔接是连贯的基础，衔接在语篇连贯中起着重要的作用，而连贯是形成语篇 的最重要的前提。不少学者把衔接理论用于外语教学，取得了不少成果。 虽然前人在把衔接理论应用于外语教学方面取得了一些成果，但是在英语写作 教学方面的应用还有很多的空白。许多在这一领域的实证性研究多集中在一些本科院 校，在那些院校中，学生的英语水平相对较高，其研究结果虽然有一定的普遍性，但 对高职高专类的院校来说，情况有所不同。在这类院校中，学生的起点相对较低，在 衔接连贯方面的问题更严重。而同时许多的高校英语教师对于学生的篇章意识没有给 予足够的重视，写作教学还停留在句子层面上。因此本研究将篇章意识引入到英语写 作教学中，通过分析学生习作中衔接手段的使用情况，衔接错误的具体情况，从衔接 山东大学硕1 二学位论文 与连贯的角度来探讨如何提高英语写作教学。 本研究以韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理论为理论依据，以济宁学院英语专业4 0 名一年 级学生所写的文章为语料，采用韩礼德和哈桑的译码统计方法，对英语作文中的衔接 手段使用情况进行了统计与分析，分析研究的重点是文章中的衔接错误：数量，特点， 性质，原因。并在分析语料的基础上，对今后的写作教学有针对性地提出几点建议。 本文首先论述了当前英语写作教学的现状及本研究的目的和意义，提出应该把 衔接理论应用于写作教学。然后分析了英语写作的性质，并对相关的应用衔接理论于 写作教学的研究做了文献综述。由于本研究以韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理论为理论框架， 在第三章对衔接理论做了详细的综述。文章的第四部分是本研究的设计与实施，介绍 了语料的收集方法与过程。第五章是对语料的统计与分析。以韩礼德和哈桑的衔接理 论为理论依据，采用韩礼德和哈桑的译码统计方法，对衔接手段的使用情况进行了统 计与分析，分析研究的重点是文章中的衔接错误：数量，特点，性质，原因。并在统 计与分析的基础上，对今后的写作教学提出了一系列的有针对性的建议，强调加强师 生的篇章意识和在写作中使用衔接手段的意识，克服汉语的负迁移对英语写作的影
