摘要 语用学，作为语言学的一个分支，正迅速发展。它的发展并不是独立进行的， 是伴随着跨文化交际、社会学和翻译等的发展不断更新的。在跨学科研究的大潮下， 学者将语用学与其它学科相结合，用其原理来解释单一学科自身不能解决的问题。预 设属于语用学，但它原本起源于哲学领域。自被提出之日起，预设就引发了学者们热 烈的讨论，诸如f r e g e ( 18 9 2 ) 、r u s s e l l ( 1 9 0 5 ) 和s t r a w s o n ( 1 9 5 0 ) 。2 0 世纪6 0 到7 0 年 代，关于哲学上预设真值的争论走向尾声，语用预设理论发展蓬勃。 本文将预设理论运用于翻译实践中，并强调预设翻译在译者追求忠实与功能对等 的过程中扮演着重要角色。全文共分六个部分。 引言部分，作简要历史回顾，阐明本文的意义，勾勒文章结构。第一章介绍预设 在哲学领域和语言学领域里的研究状况。哲学家认为预设是一种现象，即一个名词总 是指向客观实体。语言学家从多个层面，例如词汇和句法，扩展了预设的领域。然而， 与这种单一的方法相比，从语用的角度研究预设更为综合，符合实际交际中的使用情 况。语用预设正是本文的中心议题。第二章探讨了预设在翻译的两个过程中的重要性。 在第一个过程中，即译者理解阶段，由预设引发的精简性降低了原作的可读性。预设
