科技英语语篇中模糊限制语的元功能摘要精确和客观是科技英语的两大重要特点。但是在科技英语语篇中，我们能发现大量的模糊限制语。它们的使用不仅未减弱科技英语的准确性，反而在某种程度上有助于提高表达的有效性。自从美国语言学家拉科夫于1 9 7 2 年提出并研究模糊限制语以来，中外众多学者从不同角度对这一语言现象进行了分析研究，但对于其在科技英语语篇中的具体功能研究尚有很大研究空间。以系统和功能为基点的系统功能语法在二十世纪后半期对语言学界产生了巨大冲击，并被广泛运用于各种文学语篇的分析。作为该语法体系的一大核心内容，元功能思想经历了不断发展完善的过程，大体可以分为概念功能、人际功能和语篇功能。本文从系统功能语法中的元功能的角度来具体分析模糊限制语在科技英语语篇中充任的三种元功能，与此同时也探讨了三种元功能的实现方式。此外我们还利用了相关的一些理论作为补充。研究发现，所有的模糊限制语都实现了两种或三种元功能，科技英语的作者利用模糊限制语表达了他们对事物认知的程度以及对读者和语篇的态度。本文还试图比较分析中外科技工作者在用英语写作时使用模糊限制语的差异，研究表明，对于中方作者来说，正确的使用模糊限制语是比较棘手并需要予以关注的问题，科技英语教学中必须首先使人们认识到模糊限制语的重要作用，以帮助中国科技工作者增强跨文化书面交际能力。关键词：模糊限制语科技英语语篇概念功能人际功能语篇功能m
